If I'm ever a part of the 1%, I can throw away my money on this. And if you own a cell phone and do anything online....Big brother is already watching you.
@@williamhaynes7089 Try going through a toll booth without paying. You will find out pretty quickly WHY you don't want ANY License Tag. I do not want to be tracked by ANYBODY at any time whatsoever. No, I do not wear a Faraday Cage for a hat. Cell phone radiation is not healthy for anyone. 5G is high energy and 6G is even higher. Might as well stick one's head in a microwave on low defrost... IF I got a digital tag, I would fix it so it did not track me and the tag would read PRIVATE. Even Snowden talked about people being tracked. Phones are the most common means today. But that tag is going to track you too. I want neither.
I like the idea of it. Now if it can be used in color that would be better . Flashing red and yellow STOLEN on your plate would be easier to spot in the event your car was stolen
I own one my only downfalls are 1. Right now my location isn’t working. 2. If I move out of state (which I am) it’s only good until it expires unless that state gets the approval.
I just bought one today, I purchased the battery powered plate option there was a promo code DAD30 for 30% off for fathers day. Yes it is a bit pricey but as people buy them they will come down in price, So you can thank me and the other tech junkies that are buying these now, because they will only go down in price I HOPE ....... It's only money right. I will be filming an installation video for my YT channel after I receive the new digital plate in the mail.
i don’t see why everyone is scared of the gov having the ability of tracking their phone or car or really anything. like actually unless you’re someone like osama or pablo escabar why would they single you out, and a better question is what are they going to do with the information. i honestly find people that think like this to be entitled because they think that for some reason the gov wants to track them specifically
LoL. I’ll say what we used 10 years ago could and would not just track but also save all data. We could use that information to build random information like how long it’s takes you to walk to the store every week on Thursdays at 4pm and you also usually call your mom to talk about your creepy ass boss. If we wanted we could shut down the entire area (not in America) Nowadays they can basically tell if you’re a lier because of voice deflection and maybe your fit is still connected or on and the use of the fancy cameras we all have now. But with all that scary ass gov stuff I have one of these plates!!!! Hahahaha Because to fight it is impossible.
For me, I do not need a 'hall monitor'. Tracking only serves to destroy your freedoms. Tracking people is CONTROLLING people. Despite what the courts and politicians say, we DO have the absolute right to privacy everywhere and at all times. In fact, all rights are absolute. China uses a social scoring system. Tracking people is part of that system. Information obtained IS used against you.
Some people just think they're somebody's and that everyone actually cares about their existence lol you think the government got time to sort through 300 million peoples personal info? Nah they smart and just wait for you to do the hard work for them by doing something sketchy like Google searching how tos on bombs and other crap, which I'm sure is already on RU-vid and bet you the creator of that video is fine
It’s just a paranoid country Republicans push paranoia and fear that’s how they try to win elections like they’ve been saying for years old we’re gonna take your guns from you the Republicans have been saying that since fucking the mid-1900s and look everybody still got their guns and rats the only people that lose their guns and rights or people that commit felonies and lose your rights because you did something wrong I don’t know why everybody is so paranoid about things like this but you’re right they track everybody daily they don’t realize it even your car can be tracked all these newer cars the GPS system is built into every part of the car practically but nobody thinks about that they always think about micro chips being tracking people or tracking your phone get over yourselves welcome to the future the more you worry about that BS the shittier your life going to be I go with the flow
What's so bad about regular license plates? Ummm... Nothing!! Yet, us humans are bored and never satisfied. So let's pay a lot more, risk our personal information, and clutter our lives with more time consuming stuff..??
The Internet of things is penetrating all fields of our daily life. A digital plate could bring advantages but at the same time, there may be cost and privacy considerations.
I just paid my rplate off and now only pay 75 a year, currently have 2. 1 thing with gps tracking is you get cheaper insurance and 2 you can find your car if its stolen, it even has park mode so if it moves you get a text notification
Everyone’s been doing that for years and it’s easy to do always hide your vin number too and remove the wrap on your car when it is wrapped tinted windows no one can see in but you can see out works too windshield etc the laws and everything we don’t have to follow it’s all bullshit bc mfs think they are superior then you LA is a fucking video game all this shit is just simulation bullshit the only way we can break laws in video games cause of all white people laws
We already have a form of that in states with toll roads and yearly tag fees. That's nothing new. Still, this is too much money for to little of a service. I'll pass.
My main issue is, what happens when you're out of cell range? I'm regularly out in the desert or up in the mountains, where coverage is spotty at best... And since 3G was phased out, my entire town has been without cell coverage at all! AT&T and Verizon won't even lie to us, they check their maps and just go... huh.
Sure does seem like every Tesla comes with one :-) honestly I don't know why the maker of this plate does not get with car manufacturers and just have them built in.
@@crazysquirrel9425 your already tracked by posting on any social media like here on RU-vid lol Have a bank account tracked Have a cell tracked Have a job tracked Social security tracked Lol who cares if they tracked you only criminals should worry about this tracking stuff
@@Gokuz257 I do not consider this place SM. It is more like a bulletin board. Gotta have money for a bank account. Haven't had a cell phone in years. Job? You mean I gotta WORK? At some point, EVERYONE will be considered a criminal. Actually everyone already IS since the government watches everything. Trail of breadcrumbs comes to mind.
Well being that I’ve had one for almost 2 years I am now getting ready to going to my 3rd. plate. It certainly has its flaws. Hopefully soon to figure it out
@@crazysquirrel9425 that is not possible…. It works like a kindle. It doesn’t necessarily need power to operate once the screen has made it’s changed at all always stay like that I don’t know how to explain it exactly but I’ll tell you I’ve had one sitting on my garage wall for two years with no power and still works/still on and visible with no problems.
@@belaidout How many electronic devices are that trustworthy? Why have one sitting in your garage if they are THAT great of a thing? I do not want one period. In fact I don't want my vehicle marked with anything at all.
@@crazysquirrel9425 Well considering nothing in life is perfect things do tend to break and tend to malfunction. the beauty of it is they honor that and they send you a new one for free. Does Apple do that? nope you have to pay a deductible does android users have that same luxury? no nothing in life is guaranteed. I’m sure right now you’re probably talking to me on a smart phone which is obviously trackable too by the government and everybody else so what’s the difference between having a digital plate or a cell phone in your pocket? I have two of these on both of my vehicles and if I had the luxury of putting one on my motorcycle I would but unfortunately they don’t offer that. but maybe I’m totally miss reading you altogether maybe you’re the type of person that likes to use flip phones and changes your Sim card probably weekly. Probably also assuming the government has some weird conspiracy over everything but what do I know 🤦🏻♂️ i’m just a guy commenting on a license plate that is cool 😎
Why do we have to pay monthly fee? For amber alerts and other stuff? Our phone does that already. Stolen? Most vehicles have built in trackers. I like this new tech. But we should have the option to opt out for the cellular service. Pairing with your phone and the plate via Bluetooth or wifi to do a yearly registration should do the job and free. (The pairing to register). Do you pay to pair your Bluetooth headset to listen to music? A one time purchase of the digital plate should be the standard and option for cellular service. To me this is an officially approved scam getting consumers to pay the extra service you don't need for a digital licence plate. I had this idea long time ago but did not imagine that some company approved by DMV to include add on service fees on a licence plate. Good looks yes. Extra monthy fee. F that sht.
$17 a month, 3 years, free installation right now. Just ordered one. Havent seen any car with one. Will look so cool. $17 bucks is nothing. Great deal right now
Yeah, I made the mistake of buying a "Reviver" plate about 1 year ago for a classic (1956) car. It never worked as advertised, and for the last 3 months, it didn't work at all. It was battery powered. Worse yet, when the renewal was cancelled by Reviver, I contacted them. They had no customer service to speak of, and the guy that answered the phone was at home (I could hear a baby crying and a dog barking in the background) - his answer was for me to either sell it or throw it away. I paid over $1300 for this worthless piece of garbage. It's totally useless. Spend the money on the car - not the license.
@@shreddder999 If your TV is connected to a TV service (DirecTV , HULU, or Comcast) or internet it is being monitored. Unless you are just receiving signals from an old style antenna.
@@Sweet_Jazz DirecTV is unidirectional. Whenever you have to troubleshoot, you as the user have to navigate menus and crud and tell them what readings are coming from the software. They can't see anything at their end. If it can't be figured out by what you're seeing and telling them they always send a technician out.
Rather wait for an #RPLATE alternative where dedicated cell subscription for the screen isn't required and 2 displays are fully integrated into vehicle's body. Where plates are assigned to vehicle instead of driver, rather plate info be downloaded to vehicle and stay with the vehicle from external device (e.g. DMV agent's device). Where plates are assigned to driver, vehicle would then automatically display appropriate plate based on user's credentials via smart car ignition system (e.g. #NFC ignition system scans driver's license to display appropriate driver-assigned plate info).
@@cesarabelr You have to pay $899 for the device, $79 dollars a month for a subscription fee, and also tack on your yearly DMV fees. Not practical for anyone except the super rich. I'll take an aluminum plate that is color and can last me 20+ years over one of those anyday.
@@crazysquirrel9425 Then yeah, you'll be in trouble. I'd probably not recommend these to people in those situations because folks on the road are crazy and unpredictable
$500 plate with a subscription plan, how is someone supposed to save money if we are going to electrify and add connectivity to more devices. More people are tired and hating subscriptions whether its monthly or yearly. Again, how is one supposed to save money if more things require a subscription.
I will add that i have one and the service i have received has been HORRIBLE. I sold my car, needed to transfer it to another car and it took 2 months, many many calls and basically they do not care about a positive customer experience. They also charged me 200.00 to transfer the plate to my new car.!!!!!!! I only did it because I like the product but, i wish i never did this. They are the worst if you need to transfer your plate to another car so, if you change cars every 2 years be ready to deal with his madness, they offered to give me 2 months free! Wooooah 40.00 dlls for all this drama???
Say something the government doesn't like? Participate in a trucker convoy in Ottawa for example? In addition to them shutting down your banking, the license plate now becomes your scarlet letter.
What a nonsense review this was. So most of the reasons for not getting it were to assume the company that you're getting it from is a liar. I have been running a digital license plate on my car for years. Makes registration very simple, and I've never put a front plate on my car. As far as tracking me is concerned, my phone tracks me, every app on my phone tracks me, my car tracks me, seriously? If that's your concern go buy a 1975 Pinto. As far as your DMV nonsense. It's just that, utter nonsense. The DMV does not have to do anything other than what they already do to give you a license plate. All this is is a digital representation of the state plate that the state has given to you, nothing whatsoever for them to do so learn something before griping about it.
Well one thing I don't like about those license plate she's basically they can be easily hacked basically the numbers and letters should be changed on those plates as easy as basically defacing them. So if a hacker tries to break in to obtain the license plate number off that digital license plate that number can be faced in a hurry. And that's exactly what I'm afraid of. And it's not just everybody who sees them like that it's also a law enforcement because with a hard license plate you cannot deface those because you do deface those basically in some areas it's a felony to do that. Basically I'm talking about is you could actually break the law defacing license plates. Because they're really not supposed to be defaced at all.
You're definitely being overly paranoid. He's yours going to you and only you. No one else can download anything. It all has to link up and it is a controlled situation through the Department of Motor Vehicles as well. It's a two-step process. There's heavy security involved.
you forgot the most essential reason, they have to drill a hole to the car for installation which resides just behind the plate. this was the deal breaker for me, im already compromising the high price but drilling a hole the size of a quarter a new car is not ideal at all.
Even so a hole that’ll never ever see the light of day (since apparently it’ll be covered up by the plate harness). But alas nothing you said is true. It simply uses the same holes already drilled for conventional metal plates, and taps the same power as a conventional license plate light would use.
Well that's just ridiculous. The hole is not that big, and has a plug that covers it and it goes behind the plate and is sealed with silicone so I'm not sure what you're so worried about. You know, fun fact, the factory put four holes in the same general vicinity.
@@crazysquirrel9425 AHAH it has an internal battery, HAHAHAHA try again...lol, if you dont believe me hold the button and rest it and it will show how much power it has
really? the video showed that they use the same holes already in place for your license plate. like my car already has holes for it so i dont see the big deal.
if a thief steals your car with this plate, theyll take it off asap. duh. who in their right mind would WANT to spend that much on their license plate?
@@budh420 I don't want to pay ANYTHING to exercise my rights. Since when are my rights up for sale? Any time you pay to exercise a right, it is no longer a right but a government granted privilege.
Well the thing is we’re gonna go to digital license plate in the next two years if you like it or not what’s gonna happen you don’t replace it you don’t get to drive your car no more because your old license plate is gonna be worthless it’s either you’re going to go to jail you’re going to get a suspended drivers license for not updating your tag but there’s also key downfalls to those tags they’ll be able to track anywhere you are in the whole 9 yards but this is going to happen if you like it or not so there’s gonna be a lot of people going to jail for driving on a tag that doesn’t exist anymore once digital tags come out you will be doing it you know the states all enforces the law enforcement will enforce it and like I said there’s nothing you were going to be able to do about it
Yet another thing for Big Brother to watch over your shoulder. Also take into mind if somebody like Mr Mango Man decides to be president-for-life and decides your votes are a little too blue for his liking
Any traffic violation, like speeding can be tracked and citations can automatically be issued by a computer. If one is driving to a join a protest, the government can track that.
Hello, interesting material 👍 My name is Stefan, I'm from Romania and I present mini news about technology, yesterday I did an article about digital license plates from, in which states are digital license plates valid. I would like to make a video and I need footages for a few seconds, can I take some footages from you? I will write a text, from whom I took the footages.
Give it time and the price will come down. Working around its patents, when competitors hit the market the sky high price will drop like a boulder. Hopefully soon, this is an awesome gadget, especially for expensive cars with sound systems.
Nope not for me . Too expensive. Not worth it at all. And talking about tracking u where ever u are. It like my wife asking me where I been all day.and like all tech there eventually break down. Who know for how long u have a car. And what the Warranty most people have there cars for more then 7 years
Meh...fuck this.....I'll stick with good old fashioned plates. They work fine and have for 100 years. This is just crap. Plus you need a cell plan? Get bent.
