I agree 100% iRacing is better but it's no comparison to GT7 when paired with the PSVR2. The immersiveness does more for sharpening my skills then any flat screen ever could no matter how good the sim models are. I only bought the PSVR2 because Sony announced that PC compatibility would be coming later this year. Hopefully they hold to their word. Once I can use PSVR2 with iRacing I'll get all new stuff and go all in.
@@matthewdickerman3142 yea junky VR. It's not nearly as optimized as Gran Turismo. PSVR2 is a few steps better than my quest visually. Especially when looking into the horizon. I can probably see nearly twice as far in my PSVR2 than in the quest 3. And I'm not about to spend $3,000 on the headset to match what the PSVR2 can do. I'll just wait patiently for PC compatibility. Once PSVR2 has PC compatibility it'll be the best headset for the buck on the market. Already is if you ask me really. The cable doesn't bother me at all. Plus the eye tracking is unmatched. That's why the visual quality is also unmatched. Optimization goes a long way.

IRacing in VR is great once you get it dialed in and are actually driving.. it’s just SO much more clunky to get going and ultimately for me just an expensive dated hassle. GT7 in VR just WORKS every time and is consistently a great experience. 4090 Q3 < PS5 VR
Simply put, if you're a gamer dad, go for PSVR2 GT7. Put on the headset and go, you won't have much time for fiddling and messing around to get the right settings.
How are you finding running a league, myself and a friend tried to do the same but found it very difficult to get everyone on at the same time, commitments and time zones etc. And that wasn't VR only so what you are doing sounds great
I went all in for ps5, got a wheel, pedals and a chair. I absolutely love racing in GT7 in VR. Some races I'll finish and genuinely feel like I just drove a race car. It really is incredible
The amount of different brands and cars in GT7 is great for not just the collecting part but also seeing the detail of every single car. PD has done an amazing job with the detail on interiors and handling with these machines, and being able to experience them in VR is fantastic. Funny story: My dad was in the market for a used car for my sister and was actually considering buying the VW Scirocco. This was about a year ago when the VR released and i had bought the headset. He thought it was a really cool way to actually get a hands on experience with the car that he was considering to buy irl. He drove a bunch of different cars in GT7 that are on the used market here in Norway, but he still hasn't decided what car to get though, due to the economy being so f'ed here in Norway at the moment.
New to the VR world plus creating a simple NYC apartment friendly racing sim. Since I already own a PS5, I opted for the PSVR2 with adapter (yes I was one of the fortunate ones), however I'm still waiting shipment of my racing sim hardware. I've gone with the Fanatec CSL GT for Playstation as my starter and a Playseat Challenge X for the foldable cockpit so I can stowaway when done (the wife would not approve a static rig) I've had a gaming pc for sometime now; 4090 liquid x overclocked & 13th gen I7 overclocked to 5.5mhz. I've tried the PSVR2 with GT7 with the regular PS Sense controller and that's when I encountered the dreaded motion sickness. I was 1.5hrs into GT7 when my head felt heavy and I became nauseous, I tried pushing thru but it just got worse. It took hours to feel better but tbh it felt like an eternity. Next day pushed 2hrs but the sickness last longer. A real turn off tbh. Looked online for remedies but "ginger" really, others say shorter stints can help with my sea legs. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
I have never gotten sick myself, but you should not push harder if you start feeling sick. You should be doing the complete opposite. As soon as you start feeling sick, you should stop immediately. Stay under your threshold of getting sick and keep at that amount. Then push a little more over time.
playstation and iracing are both a subscription based platform to play online. GT7 costs $60, iracing has pretty good free content especially for someone starting out. the question should really be, are you looking to have casual fun, or a competitive punishing sim experience. also, unlike GT7, iracing gives you up to $10 of iracing credit if you race in participation races. so pay for two tracks, get your participation races and get more tracks over time. At the end of the day you are paying a subscription for either one you choose, it's just up to you to decide what type of experience you want.
I think there is definitely casual fun to be had in iRacing even though it's looked at as this serious sim racing game. You can take it just as casual as GT7. It's just more strict against drivers who intentionally wreck others or those who are clueless about racing etiquette, but those are good things to just make racing better.

Yessir, and even if you don’t have much, a PS4 would also work for GT7, I was using a ps4 for almost a year before buying a ps5 to make sure I was into it.
For controller players, motion control on Dual Sense feels and performs great. It's even recommended on the official GT7 driving guide "Beyond The Apex", first article "getting used to your controller". Enjoy.
I like having a great time when I race. Getting screamed at and all the crying, is and never was part of my plan. GT7 in V.R. is pure racing joy for me.

I don't use any extra accessories except for a headband which makes the headset more comfortable to wear for extended periods of time and also helps reduce marks on the forehead. LoL
PS5 also has ACC & F1... I'm in the battle right now choosing between a gaming PC or a PS5 and I'm leaning towards PS5... I wouldn't want to cheap out on a PC and I'm not trying to spend that much right now...
I got an iRacing PC + VR setup for £950, so around the same price as PS5 + VR2. But don't ask me how much I've spent on iRacing itself 😂 it's by far the best though when it comes to organised competitive racing across any discipline you could want.
Nice vid, and what you say is correct. Especially about price and PSVR2, Personally I think PSVR2 is worth it just for GT7. Otherwise its a $2000 or more gaming PC and a Quest 3 another $500 and iRacing price on top. Personally I have GT7 and iRacing. if I dont have much time I will hop in to GT7 and race pretty much instantly. If I have more time I will do at least 30 min practice on a track in iRacing, so I can get a decent qualifying time. then then a 20 min race so its realistically an hour. Both are great and as to price for either, its still probably less than the cost of tyres, fuel and tracks cost of a real track day.
Problem with iRacing is that it looks identical to what it did in 2009-10 which is the last time i played it. Very dated game. They make so much money from it, but they don't seem to use it for too many improvements. I guess why not milk it if people keep paying. I do wish there were some PC racing games that had anywhere near the single player depth that GT has offered over the years.
The only reason to chose gt7 over any other sim. Olympic E racing platform. The competition has gotten real hot since the first time this game was used at olympics. All the good drivers from all the other sims are in GT7. Trying to get their shot at fame.
I prefer GT7 to Iracing. And I have both. Sometimes I just want a quick race no fuss no hassle. I can wait minutes after a race and be in another with GT7. I stopped PC sim racing because I found Iracing boring. Years later GT7 got me back into Sim Racing. PC Sim Racing can be a nightmare to setup and keeping it running. PS is literally as plug and play as you can get.
It is such a shame that just GT7 is the one optimized on PS5...For me, ACC is a better game but no PSVR2 support, such a shame. I've done some tricks to use the headset, like wome other guy proposed as an alternative, increasing FOV, managing the camera position, etc, and you can see that it does improve the feeling but it is still a game that has no optimization for VR on PS5...I am hesitant to buy GT7, because of the mechanics/physics are not on par with ACC. I played GT Sport and basically all of the GT games...always more arcady tan AC and ACC... hopefully we will have another AC game before the next conaole generation arrives AND i hope vr compatibility....will see
My opinion. GT7 is the better *_teacher_* and will get you up to speed quicker than anything else on the market. Its called _"The Real Driving Simulator"_ for a reason. I dont think anything will ever beat iRacing for pure simracing. I personally thing RFactor 2 trumps everything in terms of realism. I just wish the overall presentation and interface were more polished. ACC is aother good one.
I’m going to date my self by saying this, but I have been playing since Grand Turismo 1. GT7 is a simcade not a true simulator with features like catch up which is not realistic. This makes Grand Turismo friendlier for casuals. I prefer iRacing.
I play GT7 in VR as well. It is endless replay value. You can buy new cars and trick them out and run different events and the possibilities are endless. I plan on getting a motion rig and updating my steering wheel and pedals so I have the option of Iracing or GT7. The subscription and nickel and diming in Iracing is a turn off. I wish that Poliphany would update and get more tracks. If they had the same tracks as Iracing they would eat Iracing's lunch
I just sold ps5 as so bored of gt7. Got to A+ but find it dull. Got an rtx 4070ti and ryzen 7 5700x pc and going Iracing in vr. I wanna ram max Verstappen😂
@@thecasualracinggamer only quest 2 as was in store for 220 euros and I find it way sharper than psvr2 and no grainy image. Will get quest 3 eventually when bank account recovered 😂

Doesn't make sense, LOL. You sure no account on your Playstation has it. If one account has it, it can be used for other accounts on the system. If you look at GT7 in the Playstation store, it even says PS Plus required for online play.
Yes but the choice of racing cars in GT7 is very limited. First, we drove the 458 GT3 and then painted it into a 488 GT3. Now we paint it into a 296 GT3🤣
