May 29 2023: still in love with the car. In 6 months my confidence level of driving such a huge SUV has increased many folds in the congested roads of Bangalore. No complains so far . First free service is due now. Dec 24 2022: Just got to Hyderabad from Bangalore doing 615kms door to door. Completed the entire journey in 10 hours with 2.5 hrs of breaks. So basically completed 615 kms jn 7.5 hours. The handling , acceleration , braking and manoeuvring at high speeds is WOW! It is a beast on the road. Instils so much confidence at high speeds. Since I had family travelling with 4 adults and 2 kids I did not exceed 160 km/hr. Nov 2022: 14 days into owning the Jeep Meridian MT 4x2 Limited Option. Here are the observations: 1. Great Suspension. Glides over breakers. In a city like Bangalore is a blessing 2. So easy to handle and manouver. I am a Volks Polo owner as well and this huge car manouvers as easily as sedan/hatch. No problems at all driving in a congested city such as Bangalore. 3. No body roll for such a huge SUV. 4. Amazing safety features 5. The interiors look so plush. Every time i step into the car i get that wow factor. 6. The music system is A class. 7. The surround camera resolution and quality is top notch. Parking is so easy for such a big SUV. 8. Turning radius is good. 9. People often check out the car while it is on the road. The exterior looks and road presence is stunning. 10. Mileage is something i am keeping an eye. Currently it shows 7.5 but i have driven mostly in the super congested traffic at peak hours. This is improving and should dramatically improve when i take it on the highways and post first service. 11. Third row surely will be a bit cramped for a full grown adult but is perfect for small people and kids. 12. Braking even at high speeds is great. 13. AC is very good! 14. I am in love with the auto features such as auto wipers, lights, etc. 15. The gear box could have a bit more sturdy but it is Ok. I am used to the Volkswagen solidness and sturdiness. 16. Finally the whole experience from PPS Jeep in Bangalore from test drive to delivery to post sales is simply wow! Congratulations to the team there. At this price point of 35-40 lacs looks like it is a great value for money car. I will keep updating over time.
I test drove it and found the initial pickup to be lacking unless you press the pedal hard. The throttle response is just not there below the 2k RPM. On an inclination therefore it felt sluggish. The driving aspect was thus a let down IMO, maybe cuz of the vehicle weight n turbo lag combined (i’ll still ignore the slow shifting auto gearbox). What’s your take on it? Do you enjoy driving it? To me the lag was killing the driving experience. I’m used to naturally aspirated engines, i feel that could be the reason too.
@@AshishSharma-he6lf a bit of lag yes but that’s with most cars being introduced …I was very particular about this but am ok with the level of lag on the Meridian compared to the other cars I test drove . But once you cross the 100kmph on the highway it shifts to another league altogether …I just came back from Wayanad and it was a pleasure to drive at 180kmph as well . The stability control and confidence at 180kmph is priceless.
@@RohitKumarForeverthanks for getting back. Did you try XUV700? I found its initial pickup to be better. I understand your point about Meridian, but my concern is that me being in city the usage mostly is well below 100km/h, the low n mid range performance therefore becomes important for driving pleasure. It will be on fairly less occasions that i’ll be touching highway figures. Sure the XUV isn’t as premium an offering but there are hardly any alternate i could think of, that has goodness of both the worlds.
Got my meridian on June 27th. Considered Fortuner and Kia Carnival before zeroing on Meridian. I feel its a value of money product in this price range. XUV 700 is also good but I have been driving a XUV 500 for 8 years and wanted to test a different brand, plus in my view though 700 is feature rich it lacks the luxurious feeling that a meridian offers.
Congratulations on the purchase. Buddy I’m also planning to buy. How is the AC performance of the car? Is it chilled and keeps occupants comfortable in sweltering heat. Your inputs will be useful
@@abhisheksaxena6778 Ford’s business strategy was different and flawed. They aimed for selling more products with a lot of localized models and it didn’t work with tough competition. But Jeep’s strategy is different. Aimed at premium segments, their volumes will always be low but will remain consistent. So don’t see any problem with Jeep in India. And with renegade launch also planned, their numbers will increase too.
@@SohailKhan-eh1ck off course bro Hyundai makes better car than Maruti. I have 2013 elantra also it had all the features and even today the quality is really very good
I’ve been hearing complaints about using the same engine of compass in the Meridian and how it is underpowered. These comments are coming from people who never took the test drive. I drove the car and wow! You feel like you’re driving a mini tank. The vehicle is just 110 kgs heavier than compass and almost 220 kgs lighter than xuv700 due to the usage of high strength steel. And the low end torque seems to be better tuned than compass so that you don’t feel the initial turbo lag. Most importantly it gives a worry free fuel mileage in the long run. Booked immediately after the first test drive!
@@tanmaysinha7002 how is it better in every way? First of all, it’s body on frame. That itself doesn’t make it suitable for everyday city drives due to body roll. And it’s 2 segments below Meridian
@@bangcupid007 meridian technically sits in the xuv and safari segment( quality levels are better but the amount they are charging is just too much) , Scorpio is a fortuner kind of vehicle which everybody won't like , its more of a adventure vehicle .. it remains to be seen how good it is in terms of bodyroll and all , but in off roading it is surely better than meridian
I was searching for a car having proper 7 seat capability to accommodate 6-7 adults. Now days except Safari and Benz GLS, are the only cars having enough space for 3rd row adult seating. After spending so much money its hard for me to go for these cars where 3rd row is for kids only. I know you will say just look for safety, features, comfort and drivability but space is also equally important when you say 7 seater SUV. If this is the case then don't say 7seater SUV, just call them as 5+2kids SUV.
I agree with your point on Jeep offering the same quality, build and safety globally. I drive a Jeep Compass Model S Petrol (2022). Many owners including me have noticed that it has rattling issues (noises) from door panels or infotainment area while driving (doesn't depend on speed). Also the AC cooling is quite ineffective compared to much cheaper cars. 1. Rattling issues persist despite service centers attempt to fix it. It is tough to believe that this is an issue globally. 2. A/C cooling remains ineffective even after servicing. Did you notice this in Meridian also?
Even i drive same car model s petrol and i was facing rattling noise from centre console and doors, i went to jeep service centre and they were unable to fix it and than i asked mechanic to use lubricant spray in all the doors and gaps in centre console and it’s been one year i never faced such stupid rattling noise, tbh it used to irritate me a lot but thankgod its gone
Pity I bought the Jeep Compass last year. Jeep Meridian looks like a unique mix of largeness and luxury. Jeep has another potential winner at their hands.
No Sir. Meridian is nothing but a slightly over stretched Compass for which Jeep expects you to pay a lot more. The 3rd row seats are a joke. We have a Compass. Meridian has no merit. There are far better existing and upcoming options.
Test drove fortuner and Meridian on 2 consecutive days, Booked Meridian the same day of test drive.. and it doesn’t mean the other car is bad , but you will like Meridian for sure..😊
@@itsmepaahinath9789 only hyundai kia and suzuki have double standards , we cant say about jeep until it enters the budget segments ... 20 lakh se upar to har company safe car de rahi hai waise bhi
VW group vehicles have a start difference in fit, finish and materials between international variants and Indian variants . But Indian variants are also decent . The jeep gives you exactly the vehicle from abroad .
I had test driven meridian and compass both before purchasing, they are great products so great that they can even perform better than some cars from segment above but I was worried a lot about their service as both their test drive vehicles were in pretty bad shape and I got reviews from a owner that their service and part availability is not that good? Can someone suggest is it true ?
i am first buyer form punjab merdian 4x4 limited . this suv excellent than fortner which i had before 4x4 fortner had body roll in hole fortner loses stability and jeep engine and 9 speed gear excellent i can say futuristic family car
@@tanmaysinha7002 you don't say..looks like you really hate jeeps for some reason..you leaving comments all over the place..test drove both fortuner and meridian.. meridian is leaps and bounds ahead in terms of premium interiors, materials used, ride quality..toyota has 90s interiors with a bouncy ride (expected with BoF) in a 50l suv ..go figure.. they are riding on there reliability card only..have booked meridian and no regrets..just coz they have a powerful engine and a toyota badge I didnt want to waste money on an overpriced piece of junk..
@@desertracer278 i just said its not in the fortuner segment bro , eg no matter how good a polo is , can you compare it to harrier? meridian is an extended monocoque fwd compass with option awd while fortuner is complete different ladder on frame rear wheel driven 4*4 vehicle , both have their on pros and cons but are entirely different... infact if you see logically and technically, scorpio N is more of a fortuner competitor than meridian , whereas meridian is in xuv 700 segment , but since quality levels and dynamics are much better it is priced high ( actually a bit too high , should have been atleast 5 lakh cheaper to justify the price )
@@desertracer278 i am not at all a toyota fan , in fact i regard it as the worst compamy operating in india .. i hate it when toyota fans are like reliability's is everything we dont need anything else , the interiors, quality levels , price justification , comfort is just so damn bad in fortuner
@@desertracer278 if i had been in your place i would have gone for xuv 700 or alturas g4 ( again a very very capable LOF suv) coz for me vfm proposition matters a lot , if the meridian had better 3rd row seats and 190 to 200 bhp engine it would have been worth the price for sure
I owned Jeep compass(S) 2021 Diesel automatic & believe me i sold it after using it for 7 months. Jeep engine is very underpowered, you can feel the lag on highway & even in city it feels very heavy to drive. Same engine which is in Jeep is very well tuned in TATA HARRIER. So i recommend to get the test drive properly before buying it.
As being a owner of meridian I can clearly say that If you buy this car you will not be disappointed the speakers are awesome and wherever you take this car it will just go easily and in the end It is worth it
@@alpha.anshuman bro It all depends on you 8 lakhs is a huge price but If you want a car with great resell value excellence level of comfort and more importantly build quality than you should choose meridian over alcazar. But bro buying a car is easy but maintaining it is such a thing. If you compare the service price of a jeep with a Toyota, Hyundai then there is a huge difference bro. In the end it's all up to you brother..
Great vedio as always rachit sir || ya jeep is great product but the new scorpio 🦂 N is tough competitor for jeep . We need comparison vedio on Scorpio N vs jeep meridian 😍 💯
Apart from the engine, I feel it's the perfect luxury SUV for the Indian market at the price point it's at. I still feel engine could throw out more power, upwards of 185bhp & better torque around 400Nm. More power is required in such a huge car, otherwise whats the point.
fortuner with more premium interior, more features, more stability at high speed, better ride and with good mileage for 5 lakhs less the only thing is 3rd row has less space
Hello Please tell me, should I buy 2nd hand gypsy for traveling and Off-roading? Or new Thar? Also when new ginny will launch? What if I buy 2nd hand gypsy get any issue? Parts, service? Can we consider thar or gypsy as daily car?
Great video, I'm considering buying one, but wanted to check do you know why Jeep took away Petrol engine driven vehicles from India? Is there a possibility that they may exit altogether like Ford?
Lots of significant features missing when compared with the 2022 Skoda Kodiaq. Only 170 litre boot as compared to 270 litre on the Kodiaq. No electronic seat adjustment for co-driver. 3rd zone climate cannot be digitally controlled. Foot gesture 5th door open feature missing. One touch window operation only available for driver as compared to Kodiaq, which has this feature for all windows.
Bro Your 2 points are absolutely wrong. The first one the meridian comes with a one touch window feature for all windows and there is electronic seat adjustment for co- driver as well being a meridian owner when someone says wrong information It just doesn't feels good.
How is the ac cooling of meridian? I mean in summer is it capable of throwing the good cooling? I can ac vents in third row, wht about the second row. Many thnx
