The reason there are so few mods is due to the extremely low production numbers. Hyundai only built around 123,000. The paint on the spoiler is due to the dealer. They were painted and installed separately at the dealership. I bought my 2013 3.8 Grand Touring new in 3/13. I have 62,000 miles with no issues and no regrets.
Yes I do! Don’t get me wrong with the video I love my car I just wanted to give some perspective of the issues of these types cars. I just recommend that you look for a genesis coupe that has regular maintenance and oil changes done and if ur budget allows a lower mileage one as well!
I’m looking at. 2.0 t premium with around 80k miles and it doesn’t have any accidents and it’s around 10-11k im not to sure about cars I’m still under 20 so I’m not to informed but is it good for the price?
You’re in the exact same bit I’m in, I’m 19 looking at one almost identical, I’m on the east coast of NC that price seems pretty fair for the market I’m at, if that’s a dealer too that’s definitely valid. The market is hard to tell now a days
For anyone who is curious about buying a Genesis Coupe, don't buy one. I have a stock 2016 Genesis Coupe 3.8. I plan to save up money, sell my car someday, and purchase a 2019-2021 BMW M240i xDrive. If I get enough money, I will skip that and get the new G87 M2. 348 horsepower was nice to experience, but I'm ready for the next level. There is no point adding a Remnant Performance turbo kit. Everyone blows up their cars. Even people with built engines have destroyed them. It's pointless. If I had a 2013-2014 BK2 Genesis Coupe 2.0, I would consider keeping the car and having it built in the future to make 700whp. As of right now, I see no point in keeping the 3.8, and I've owned the car since 2017 or 2018. My family helped me get the car when I was still in school. My mitsubishi mirage kept breaking down every other week. Again, it's nice for my first "fast" car, but the newer cars are simply faster and have better engines. Even the Genesis G70 has a better and more powerful engine. That engine should have been in the Genesis Coupe. If you're in high school and looking for a first car, Genesis Coupes are fine. Just make sure it is a 2013-2014 Genesis Coupe 2.0 and not the 3.8. Don't ask why. If you have the money, skip all Hyundai and Genesis cars and get something better.
U make some valid points but I don’t think people shouldn’t get the car just because people are blowing engines. The majority of the time the engines blow due to low oil and lack of maintenance. Idk much about the turbo kits and stuff but I do know that the engines have to be built up to handle a certain amount of power, even the 2.0s. Does this platform make the most hp out of a stock engine? probably not. But it is still a good car to mod and drive around especially if you can find one that’s been taking care of/ not ran through and at a good price. For me I do not plan to go crazy besides FBO due to it being my daily Btw m2 and m240i 👌🏾I hope u get it soon.
Yo I’m considering buying a 2014 2.0T with 170,000km for 13,800$ cad. It’s been serviced regularly but the mileage is pretty high, does anyone have any advice on whether I should buy it or not and if I should look for a lower mileage one.
it's good that it has reg maintenance but for that amount of money, I would keep looking to see if you can find one with lower miles. I would recommend you look at this link and go into the new buyer's guide section. tinyurl.com/2zcawarn
You’re gonna have to do a timing chain if you haven’t already which is over 1k cad so if you haven’t already I wouldn’t there are better options in cad rn
I've had my 2016 Gen Coupe GT for 4 years still love it to this day, 0 regrets buying it. I've had no issues with reliability (knock on wood), I have done oil changes every 4-5k kms and brake pads once that's it for maintenance so far since owning. I like the fact that these aren't on every street like Mustangs/Camaro's. they stand out a bit with some decent wheels on them.
Here's the entire video to save you time; new car buyer bought a pre-owned car. He is basically saying you should purchase a new 2024-2025 model vehicle and is surprised there is wear and tear on a 2016. (9 model year old car.)
Got the exact car a few months ago and I think looking for 86/BRZ builds bypasses the lack of finding Genesis build inspirations since they have a similar body
Real reasons not to: timing chain failure/issues, its a gdi motor= garbage, they tend to blow up around 100k+ miles when you tune them, the manual version has issues with gear lockout and grinding, every exterior seal leaks, interior isn’t the best quality, tends to wear quickly. The 2.0t is a worse option, that 2.0 in them is also in the Hyundai sonata and they blow up all the time just stock, they also have timing chain issues even worse than the 3.8, they have potential to make good power but again it’s a terribly designed motor, they also tend to burn tons of oil later on.
Kia/hyundai cars are built very badly in general(ask me how I know) they have a very long history of their motors blowing up and their cars catching fire, I honestly have no idea how they’re still in business. My local Kia dealership has replaced up to 130 motors in their cars just in one month under warranty because of premature failure. The Genesis coupe is a cool concept but owning one is a nightmare waiting to happen.
@@panicow6005 regular oil changes doesn’t stop timing chain rattle and engine failure, there’s a reason there’s a class action lawsuit against Hyundai/kia forcing them to warranty motors because so many blow up prematurely
3.8 BK2 is a great car, love my 2016, don’t use it much these days, in the next months will export it from Puerto Rico to Florida so I don’t have to rent every time I visit Orlando.
The only thing I’d agree with in This video is the cost of modding the 3.8 for power and the paint everything else is just sounding like the guy regrets buying his genesis but I love my 3.8 and when I’m done installing my turbo kit I’ll be having more fun with the car and it’s a very unique car stands out from regular American or JDM when going out obviously it’s no hyper car or anything like that but where I live it stands out
Haha bro dw I love my car and I do plan to mod it more, If I regret buying it I would of sold it by now lol. BTW u should post the process of ur turbo install that would be cool to see
Owned a 2013 touring for a number of year, traded it in on a larger 2019 rav 4. I absolutely plan to rebuy an Rspec as a second car. Loved that thing, and honestly the maneul is the way to go. If I can find it in blue or yellow it's on! As mentioned, there is less modding done, so your car would be a better option used, less kids tinkering with whatever on a budget. It's a fantastic car to buy in 2024. 370z is more expensive, and I see them everywhere. Finding one with half decent milage it's. Ore expensive for something in a manual. Same performance just about anyways.
Im glad u enjoyed your car and plan to buy another one! And I agree it is a great car to buy especially if it has a good maintenance record. 370z's are nice too I def considered it
The reason why you have a squeaking noise on the passenger footwells is the welds on the right front spar. it is necessary to drill and reweld the 3 thicknesses
My 15 doesn’t make a sound, 77k miles and my paint is impeccable. Former owner or dealer definitely burned the clear coat off your spoiler along with a lot of sun because that rarely happens (I’m in KC btw so there’s plenty of sun and salty roads here). Finally found a 2021 G90 and man I looove it!! Keep up the content man!!
I just need headers for fbo which I have ordered rn then I’m buying trans cooler, oil cooler and getting a tune. After that I’m saving for a remnant performance turbo with the 70 omega option. (Low km it has its faults but its healthy as can be inside and out) got a carbon fiber spoiler, coils, tints, etc. honestly if you love this car and want to do thing to it and have the funds to do so you can make a beast
What shift knob did you get? I have a 2016 3.8 r-spec and I thought I would have to replace the shifter itself to get an aftermarket knob because the OEM shifter is a weird design and doesn’t fit most shift knobs
@@orangejuice-xi3gt yeah so it has a category for genesis coupe and then u can pick the different designs and shapes. The way that it works is that it comes with an adapter to make it fit
