5 Reasons to NOT Buy Story of Seasons A Wonderful Life! 

The lack of crafting after PoOT compells me to buy this game more. I actually forgot/never realized there was no axe/hammer in this game. Very excited for this breath of fresh air in the wake of millions of crafting farm games haha. I love the amount of extra farm buildings they would have actually

I’m a little sad to know they got rid of the pregnancy requirement for cows producing milk. While inconvenient, at least it’s a realistic portrayal of how that works. You’d be surprised at how many people don’t realize cows have to give birth to produce milk. 😬

Dumbing down the animal husbandry might be a dealbreaker for me... One of my favorite parts of the original is that the cows were more realistic (they didn't just magically produce milk, they needed to give birth first). But with that mechanic gone and you not even needing to take care of your animals..... Well, we'll see!

genuinely dont like that they took the animal death out. rlly loses something if you ask me. imma still get it tho it looks awesome overall but the series IS getting a little sanitized imo

AWL was my first real foray into farming games and it really coloured my opinion on others. Now that I'm older I can definitely appreciate different games offering different experiences, but I'll always be charmed by the passage of time and the yearly changes AWL has. I'm honestly really bummed out that the realism surrounding the animals has been toned down for what is probably player convenience (tbh animals getting sick and dying made me pretty anxious as a kid so I don't think that's an awful thing to soften up on lol) but there's still a lot about this game worth playing! It's good to let people know that this is a very different experience from a lot of other farming games, hopefully a lot of people pick it up and enjoy it for what it brings to the table!

You kind of made me want it MORE. Minus removing Taka's tattoo. Why would they do that? That's weird.

The game's been out in Japan for a good while now and if the game hasn't received any updates yet I doubt there will be any even after it releases in the states but it would be so cool if they updated the game and added a "Hardcore Mode" or "Original Experience" option where turning it on brought back a lot of the challenges from the original and brought back animal deaths. It's dumb not having animal deaths, what I think made the original so great was the sense of mortality even in a video game that things don't last forever, and taking care of your animals and trying to get them better from illness or what have you made the game enjoyable and it's why AWL is one of my favorite games in the series because it had stakes but realistic stakes so it made you want to make the most out of each day. With that gone I feel like you can just do whatever you want, even neglect your animals if you felt inclined too and that takes away some fun, honestly if I know my animals live forever since theres no urgency to tend to them.

i never played the og of this game but im still excited for this remake im fine with everything i dont mind getting married and having a baby so fast in the game as in other games its a pain having to get extra hearts with your spouse before you get preg i like that things change in this game instead of staying the same year after year in the game with no one ageing or getting older

Even with the changes I am so excited to get my hands on this title.

Personally I don’t think most of these reason apply to me I mean I have already played it in Japanese aswell but a time limit to get married I don’t mind because I would have decided by one year. I wouldn’t want the my animals to die anyway and I never like how in the original the cows had to take like a whole year to produce milk after they stopped. I never really like the crafting or the machines in olive town so that doesn’t bother me. I’m not the most familiar with this franchise so I don’t know if they do content updates or anything like that.but if they did I think more activity’s would be cool and I really think they should make the marriage candidates look as old as the main character in chapter six because Celia looked as old as the main character in the paper craft trailer but not the actual game so I think they should change that but overall I think this is my favourite harvest moon/story of seasons game I have played.

All very good points... yet I'm gonna get the game on PC anyway and attempt to mod it. Maybe we can get those tattoos back, at least.

I can't remember if I asked this question so I'll ask again, how long does it take to complete in one day? Like with Stardew Valley it's takes roughly 30 minutes, which I am fine with. Lack of crafting is totally FINE with me if it cuts down on the tedium, especially if there are time limits. How long does it normally take you to do your farming stuff? Can you upgrade your tools to help make farming more efficient and fast? Anything that helps cut down on time so I can socialize more and do extra stuff outside the farm, I would really appreciate if that's the case. I take it gift giving is a thing too right if it helps raise "Heart levels". And do the marriage candidates help you on the farm too? Sorry, these questions are popping up in my mind. Normally I don't like time limits in games, but since time is a factor in other "Farming sims" I play, I am fine with it. Plus I've had to 'book it' to do certain things in these types of games, whether it was to get to a store on time before it closes or fish at certain times of the day since a specific type of fish only appears in certain weather conditions and/or time slots.

It’ll be fun still cause of nostalgia of when I was a kid but they definitely should’ve kept it uncensored and the stuff about letting the animals die/get sick from not taking care of them. Makes kids learn responsibility

as someone who played the original i'm so glad i don't have to breed my cows to get milk anymore. that was something i hated about the original. because i would gift milk to the villagers but i had to be careful to remember to breed my cow once every year and wait a whole season after she gives birth to get regular milk instead of mothers milk

Dang so they didn't just take away the nitty gritty look of it, they took away the nitty gritty aspects like death too.

I've never played the game cube version so i have to ask. After the story and character death, does the game then become like a chill farming game? Or do you have to start from scratch?

I originally played Wonderful Life on Gamecube... I was kinda hyped for this game and got the Ps2 on Ps4 version just to reminisce a bit ago... and because I didn't wanna hassle digging out my Wii/Cube :') ooof, forgot how downgraded Ps2 games had to be compared to the Gamecube. Also a side-note: If you have "OKAGE: The Shadow King" for the Ps2 on Ps4 feature, DO NOT play it on your Ps5, there is like a catastrophic malfunction in the Ps5 trying to run that specific game's emulation. Probably doesn't hurt your Ps5, and they've made it unpurchaseable through Ps5... however you can still get it on Ps4 and transfer it to Ps5. :^^^) It works fine on Ps4 though.

Sos awl, and coral island are the only God tier farming games atm.

This my favorite story of seasons/harvest moon. Love all the relationship building and I feel like it’s a a perfect pace and days don’t fly by. And I love how you don’t have to beat the game just to get married like some of the others in the series.

Appreciate the warning, I never played the original ( I started with Friends of Mineral Town), I didn't know there was a time limit, that kills it for me.

I love this game, but I wish they would have added a optional hard or hell mode were things would have been a bit more challenging and maybe even include things like animal deaths and needing pregnancy to get milk. I also wish we could have seen more of our own/spouse's pregnancy event and everything but that's just me

Thank you for the helpful Info... It's another Hard Skip for me.. I don't like Time limits I want more freedom when I'm playing this kind of games. and I don't like the fact that they remove the livestock getting sick and passing when neglected it's what makes more fun and somewhat realistic..

I can text 5 more reasons and we reach a mark of 10 😅 6_ No portraits avaliable, you have to interact with the characters by their 3D models 7_ No extra marriage candidates nor DLC... Some people expected more marriage candidates due to this path that used to have a connection with FoMT or some secret characters to be added to the marriage selection like Flora, but this game won't bring anyone from past games nor new/secret characters to choose. 8_ you can't skip the "story mode" 9_ Shorter seasons and year 10_ The game seems to be easier and there isn't much to collect/unlock nor evolve (tools)

None of these changes bother me. I still own the original GameCube copies. Sure I can't play em but I ain't getting rid of em. It's my collection. I just preordered and I'm excited. This was my fave and first harvest moon game and I've been dying for a remake since well...forever.

I was also traumatized as a child with the animal death scenes and begged my mom to save my goat, but it was soft locked to die. Learned a lesson on responsibility that day, and my anxiety started to manifest

I was originally planning to skip this game but after watching some game play of the Japanese version I'm more interested. I'm still going to wait for a sale though. Do animals at least not give you product when you don't feed them? I agree not having consequences is boring. Worse, it could teach young players to neglect real animals.

LOL! Makes me want to play even more than I already do! Bummed about some of the things they removed though. I enjoyed that they made the animals realistic in the sense that they could die and only produce milk after giving birth etc. I think some of the game's charm came from the classic personality traits of the older folk i.e Takakura's tattoos and Galen's tobacco. Also the names of the characters, I wish they hadn't changed them so much but I guess I understand why they did. I am just SO GRATEFUL for this remake! This game gives me the warm and fuzzies as it was the highlight of my childhood, and throughout teenage years I'd revisit it. Overtime however gaming systems continued to advance and I wasn't able to play anymore. Thank you so much for creating content on this! Not many creators are covering this gem and so I do appreciate it!

everytime i think I want to go back to harvest moon, i check and no, i'll stick with rune factory - can't believe they added censorship, that makes it a 'never buy' - won't ever touch this garbage zero tolerance for that

None of those upset me and the last one about feature removal just made it even betters. If I want a full farming game I got Fae Farm Coming this is just a side game for me.

All these reasons AND the one I noticed too playing PoOT--whyyyy would I want to have to have shearers and milkers again, when now I just walk up to an animal and hit "A" and automatically harvest whatever they're giving? Stupid!

I'm adding a sixth reason, which is my reason for not getting this game: The Ending. Not going to spoil it but if you played the original, you know what I mean

I think you're very wrong, you probably just haven't played AWL if the things you mention are downsides for you. sSme things are cool, it's just that the game focuses more on something other than chopping trees and stones, which is a good springboard, considering, for example, new games from natsume that are crap.

Well the drinking and smoking does not bother me and crafting always seems a hassle I never liked that cows stop giving milk so yeah am up for changes just does not approve of more males than females seems like there making females look weak in this game not impressed that there is not a equal number of females to male ratio since am female I can get behind your choice of if your a female u can date female if male you can date male likes that improvement that I can choice my gender and really thrillled hopefully this game lives up to a higher standard and makes improvement

I might get this game for Marvelous sake but I’m not going to play it at all because I just watched the ending of the remake version of a wonderful life today & I really called it from the very beginning from the first trailer of a wonderful life back in 2022 for Nintendo Direct to the game come out this year in 2023 & my guessing about there will be a sad ending in the remake version of a wonderful life was 100% percent right along & I still believe that Story of Seasons Pioneers of Olive Town is still better then Story of Seasons A Wonderful Life in my personal opinion & if u ending up watching the sad ending in the remake version of that game in your play through trust me u might go back playing Story of Seasons Pioneers of Olive Town after u see the sad ending in a wonderful life remake version on Nintendo switch

The game is good, the performance is awful, I have it on my Rog ally and the models, animations and graphics in general look like a bad PS2 game, I prefer the graphics of the original.

its very boring. you do ur farm in the morning and feed ur animals after that all u can really do is talk to people. Also no shops... just 1 coffee shop. boring af
