I live Scotland my son wanted big chickens so I have 3, 1week old Brahmas (incubated) been researching them so happy with them l can't wait to watch them grow
My chickens are my pets i just love them ..people tell me oldre chickens make the best soup so i remind them i dont eat my pets. And my pets lay eggs..
I love mine as well! I have a Delaware hen who is my absolute baby. She’s top chicken in the pecking order, but as soon as I go outside, she’s at the window of the coop crying for me. She follows me everywhere I go, knows her name, cuddles and hugs me with her head when I hold her, and sometimes even sleeps in my bedroom (when she’s gone broody and needs to snap out of it). She gets spoiled to coming inside after the broody time ends, and it breaks my heart to see her waiting for me at the coop windows when I want her to go back to chicken life lol. Everyone jokes about eating my birds 🙄 Absolutely never going to happen 😡 That Delaware is going to be cremated after she lives her full lifespan, and kept on the same shelf as my beloved dog 😭
Nope. Mine was chosen to be raised as a spoilt, indoor lap chicken. We live in a rural area and have a yard; however, we do have small hawks. My last pet chicken was a Jersey giant, and she did well in the city. The dogs, cats, and hawks there avoided her (15 lbs) She loved her stroller and tolerated her sneakers and diaper when out and about. Both breeds were chosen FOR low egg output, as my first half dozen were red comets I fell in love with and buried six years later. All I want the chicken for is to pet her and take her on walks through the woods and fields. Movie night is drinks, snacks, a blanket, and a chicken. We have drive ins here, too! I'll buy the flipping eggs, I need companionship!
Hi Ally, great video thank you! Last year I hatched my first ever Brahmas and got a lucky lemon pile trio one cockerel and 2 girls. Now 7/8 months at what point do you think our cockerel (Buster the Brahma😊) will be fully mature? Thanks!
hi i just ordered 15 females and one male. we have a more traditional breed on the property (not sure their name) and they are mean and bullying. we just got two kind chicks (3) and one was killed by a brooding chicken, thus i bought another gentler breed. my assumption is their size will assist in their ability to be defensive or left alone … we have a huge property. just need some more insight, thank you in advance ❤
I have a Delaware hen who follows me absolutely everywhere. If I’m not careful, I might step on her lol. She is the SWEETEST thing! She knows her name, coos at me when I talk to her, cuddles, and even hugs me with her head and neck when I hug her! We are mutually obsessed with each other 😂😂😂
My baby brahma is getting her feathers rn and molting like CRAZY. I don’t know if you’re allergic to the dander, but it will definitely produce some dander.
Hi! I have 4 chickens and one of there toes are 'bent' he can walk and he is only 7 months old, do you have the same issue? And if u do do u know what is causing this? Or how do I fix it 🥺🥺🤔🤔🤔
It could be a birth defect or a genetic issue . When they are chicks you can try and rectify it with a kind of splint that flattens the toes out and eventually it grows to the correct position. Not sure how you would fix it in an older chicken. It can also be caused by a nutritional deficiency (a lack of riboflavin) you can buy vitamin supplements for your chicken that go in the drinking water.
I heard that it can go something wrong inside the egg if its not brooded properly inside the egg, then sometime the toes for example doesn't locate itself good.
Yes , they ate quite calm so generally get in well with others. However if you have a Brahma cockerel you need to get breeds of chickens that are similar size, so no bantam breeds. It's not such a big deal if you just have hens.
yes they just have to find where they sit with in the pecking order. Once the chicken has found their place tge bullying should ease off, they will still get pevled if they step out of line. Chickens social structure is fascinating and quite complex.
