For big lawns, granular sure is easier. Your yard sure looks nice. I think one exception might be pre-emergent. It is hard to know you are getting perfect coverage distributing prills over a given area. I also spray if I am giving the lawn kelp or humic acid, so they can be absorbed through the leaves.

True, the cost can go down with a liquid pre-emergent, I have considered that for the future as I need to get a backpack sprayer anyway for all my wooded areas. Thanks for watching and sharing 👊👊

Agree 💯 %! Liquid ferts are a trend. Liquid is appealing because it’s something most people are unfamiliar with & it gives the RU-vid creator a variety of content to demonstrate. Save MONEY & TIME , go dry!!! Scott’s Southern Turf is hands down the best & easiest fertilizer to apply for warm season grasses.

Pre mixed liquid fertilizers are a huge waste of money, find wherever you can source local urea or AMS. Get some sprayable iron like main event and maybe some potash if you’re low on potassium. Then you get make your own mix suited to your needs. My local co-op sells 50lb bags of urea for $28. The cost for spraying liquids through urea or ams can be extremely efficient. Also granular irons will generally have little to no effect at all in the soil even if it’s chelated. There’s been a handful of studies on it, a popular one is from Travis Shaddox. I think the main benefit to liquids is accuracy and versatility. I think it comes with a slight learning curve but can save you a ton of money in the long run. Granulars just come with the ease of use out of the gates. I can agree though the use case for granulars for a lot of people though, it makes sense. All depends on the person. I do think spraying liquids can be cheaper and honestly may save more time due to being able to do multiple things at once. It just depends. I think one thing I hate though is the misconception on granular irons as they are a huge waste of money.

Thanks for sharing. The only iron my lawn gets is what is in the bag of cheap fertilizer. For me it makes sense to just get the basic fertilizer from the store and put it down. I get great results with minimal time spent. For others the liquid could make more sense with their goals. I used a lot of liquid product at my last property and the cost was minimal because I only had 5k sqft of lawn. When I moved to a house with just under an acre of property I quickly reset my expectations and goals. Thanks for watching 👍👊

Funny enough, I just picked up a backpack sprayer yesterday and am going to lean more towards liquid fertilizers and bio-stimulants. I do think I'll still mix in a bag of granular fertilizer once during the season though. I'm one of those lawn care nuts who just thoroughly enjoys being out in the yard and always working on it so the time it takes for liquids will be like a stress relief for me! Great tips though for using granular, your lawn is looking real nice!

Thanks! The liquid products do work well if you have the time and $$. I think it is just a preference for sure the results come from the time spent in the lawn no matter what you use. 👊

All good reasons to go granular! I like spraying fertilizer too sometimes, though. Great video 👊

I enjoyed it when I had a 5k square foot lawn then my first year here dragging the hose over 150ft made me ditch the liquid. Not to mention I’m cheap 😆👊

I am fairly new to lawn care and have found that it is just easier as u said to throw it down every 6weeks or so. I do spray a mix of humic, kelp, and silica that i can just throw into my pump hand sprayer but thats every 6 weeks also. I think ferts of any kind are all so expensive now.

Glad you found a program that works for you. That’s what it is all about. Sounds like you have a good routine going. Totally agree on everything being expensive for sure! Good luck this season and thanks for watching and sharing👍👊

You still have to spray for weeds?
@lanieroutside
@lanieroutside Год назад
Yes this is true, only talking about fertilizer in this video. I spot spray as needed with roundup for lawns or spectracide with a small sprayer. So far this season I have done 2 spot sprays for weeds that took about 30 minutes each time not too bad.

Interesting video but you really dont have to pick a side. You can do some of both where it makes the most sense for your program. Neither are bad or good.

I agree, everyone should do what works best for their program. For me, and a lot of busy homeowners, it is an all granular approach. For others it can be different. Thanks for watching and sharing👍

Liquids seem to work better for weed control

Yes, I am only talking about Fertilizer in this video not Herbicides. 👍

Great video, but I’ve found the exact opposite going liquid on my 15k yard. Brought a backpack sprayer and buy concentrated fungicide and liquid organics for half the monthly cost over granular. Plus, you can combine fertilizers and fungicide to save time. Either way, it’s fun and good to be outside improving our investments.

Thanks. That’s what is all about, finding a program that works for you and your goals. Mine are very basic I don’t apply fungicide unless absolutely needed which hasn’t happened for the past two years. I do want to get a backpack sprayer to use in my wooded areas soon though. Thanks for watching and sharing👊👊
