I own a 2005 987 Boxster S which I bought in ‘07. It still gives me goosebumps to this day. The mid-engine makes for the most exhilarating driving experience you can have and the handling is unmatched. I know 6 people who have purchased Porches since seeing and driving my Boxster. Two Boxsters, three Macans, and one Cayman. It’s also the most reliable car I’ve ever owned. You won’t be disappointed
Hi BCblue I’m in Queens. This is my first convertible. I no longer have a house. Downsized to an apt. So no garage anymore lol. I just park it outside. I’ll put a cover on it for the snow. But I intend to drive it when the roads are clear. It’s our 3rd car. So I can always drive the other 2 as needed. Good luck!
Terrific sports car, but probably not ideal as a first sports car if you're on a tight budget. The price of these things may have come down, but the price of Porsche spare parts and maintenance has not. 987s are now getting close to 20 years old, and there will be plenty of wear and tear items that need replacement. But if you can afford the upkeep, 987 Boxsters are very rewarding cars to own and drive.
Thanks! I’m basically using the channel as a video diary, with occasional videos that I think will appeal to some people. Not looking to grow it or anything :)
Johnny, very nice Boxster! don't know how long you are keeping it but in case you don't know. if you are street parking. in order to avoid rust underneath, spray a light coat of > Fluid Film < even you not driving / the moisture from condensation - helps protect the salt if snow comes. I know you not driving it when there's snow on the ground. besides it helps get your max dollar back / car people like clean bottoms. fyi car/motorcycle over 25 years old - you may get classic/antique auto insurance for your Porsche perhaps $300 - hundred yr liability full coverage w/ fire/theft - allowed approx 2-3,000 miles driving, doubt you drive that car much. You have a main car, so you qualify. need more info ask. I had over 30 cars/motorcycles in my lifetime mostly vintage collectables.
@@masonloh1411 wow! Thanks for the info but I had to sell it and trade it in for something the kids could learn in. A mini cooper S. Bc it had to be fun for me too ;)
Thanks, John. I am in the market for a boxster now. I previously owned a 996 that was a great car. Looks like you are in New Jersey or New York? How do you protect the car from the salted roads in the winter?
Hi! I’m in Queens. I protect it with a small half cover for those days of snow and salt. Otherwise, I just park it outside and drive it whenever it’s good weather. I don’t have a garage. That’s why I don’t have a newer Boxster. LOL.
@@masonloh1411 yeah no more convertibles. I don’t have an indoor spot and convertibles are too much maintenance;) My next fun car likely to be bmw 650i or 850M. After the kids have learned how to drive in the Mini :)
@@RetireearlyNYC Well good luck. I don't know much on newer stuff. but my stepdaughter has a 2024 bmw 4 something M series if that sound, correct? her father has a 2020 5 series M - they love all 3 German beside Audi. they change cars like I change my sox LOL. I'm into pre 80's old fart cars. you should attend those Cars + Coffee events look it up.
@@masonloh1411 I love the Germans lol. But I’ll go a few years back. It’s the last hurrah for V8s. So I want my chance to drive them before they’re gone. I’d love a naturally aspirated V8, but they’re all turbo now. The NA are too old and I’m not good with cars. I’m kind of a handyman around the house but taking care of cars was never a thing. And now that I have to park in the streets, car maintenance is definitely not a thing lol. But that keeps my cars under $50k. Preferably under $30k. I don’t want to park anything more than that in the streets. Any way, that’s our vice. Our cars ;)
Ok, I got exactly what you said to avoid. I got a 2006 boxster S . automatic, and it was under 15k.1 owner only, than me. I drive top down year round and no storing it away for winter. Can't really push it in high speed, because you'll run out of ROAD! Aloha from Hawaii! note ... don't want to be driving too fast, bikinis are getting smaller and that back bikinis views are hazardous . Keeping eyes on the road becomes secondary!
It's perfect if you've got money to burn. Almost pulled the trigger on one 14 years ago but decided on a Honda S2000 instead. One of the best decisions I ever made.
