Why is my glucose higher on carnivore? A1C and fasting insulin optimal. Most days I test, glucose 90's - l05 🤷‍♀️. Is this from the protein? I eat a ton of fat. Thank you

I started carnivore to try and gain weight (21 y/o, male, 120lbs 5 ft 10inch). I noticed that my metabolism increased dramatically. I can eat 4000 calories by noon and still have space for dinner, that being said, I am struggling with fatigue, constantly having low electrolytes, and getting a very upset stomach at night. its tough to keep up with the caloric intake my body is demanding, mostly because of my proffession (Arborist). I will try to experiment with eating cold fat to see if that helps my stomach issues, thanks for the insight! also, this diet is the only thing that's been able to help me deal with my anxiety which I have had for most of my life, so I'm not giving up just yet.

Is there any chance that the carnivore diet thing something that might help the body heal up adhesions post surgery? my body's has had 3 and a large portion of the core has gotten a lot of adhesions and trapped nerves according to the dr's that are willing to say anything. But no one's making suggestions on HOW to help that heal or repair. there has been so much pain in the last several years. Even the physical therapist said it took months to improve a little. and while yes compared to before a lot has gotten better but there is still an on going clumped skin issues. Even a section that goes from belly button area up behind the sternum. tissues gone hard enough to feel it under the skin. So rough.. However I ate out once and had an allergic reaction i never had before, and NOW the allergist said i've got an alpha -gal thing in the blood. But i'm like i've had meat and products like that my whole life. so one in some 40 years is not just a sporatic reaction it's crazy and doesn't make any sense to me.

I am 80 and been doing carnivore for a little over two months. I’ve had some really good results. I’m finally starting to have energy I just about gave up because it’s taken so long to have energy and I’m grateful for it. It has helped my arthritis but one of the things that helped the most for me was the mucus, I had so much mucus sometimes I couldn’t even speak and it’s probably 80% better. I went into my ear nose and throat doctor the other day and they said that part of me that had mucus running amok was because of old age and they couldn’t do anything for me, how can that be and when I told them that my mucus on the carnivore was like 80% better they looked at me like I was nuts. I have many people trying to get me off this food plan but as long as the mucus stays at bay I don’t intend to let it go, I’d love to hear if this is helping other people with their mucus

You stay with it, Sir. Doctors are nervous about this kind of diet because of the political peer pressure of their industry, not because they know better, because they don't. Carnivore is really the basis of the Elimination diet FODMAP created by University of Sydney. Without doubt it is the best way to control IBS. Have had patients slowly bring foods back .... One has found that her IBS is triggered by the sugars in fruit ..... The guy has found it is artificial sugars. As long as they stay off those, they can pretty much eat everything.

this is a tough one for me as I'm big on "calories in, calories out" so if I get into a surplus with carnivore (very easy to do) I'll start to gain weight, atleast that is my thoughts and I have been at target weight for years and don't want to gain.
@Radiance17

@@gregschult6908This is a hurdle for me as well. I’ve been seriously considering this but the idea of not counting calories/not stopping where I normally do terrifies me tbh. People say this is a good treatment for EDs but “don’t worry if you gain weight, it’s probably muscle” and “don’t worry about calories” is a tall order for someone who’s been struggling with one for years. SBG eats an entire stick of butter per day and that alone is like 80% of my daily calories atm 😳

I just want to say think you for all the information you give. We started carnivore about 2 months ago. My son beat cancer, but, the chemotherapy and the stem cell transplant wrecked havoc with his gut. He couldn't eat without getting horrible pains and terrible trips back and forth to the toilet for hours and hours. After one month on the diet he saw a little bit of improvement. I watched a video where you said you cannot eat cheese and told him about it, but, he was stubborn saying he'd given up everything else and refused to give up his cheese. But, after a really bad bout of pain and terrible trips to the bathroom for hours and hours, he finally said he'd try without the cheese. It was hard for him when all his friends he games with orders pizza, but, he stuck to his guns and avoided anything with cheese in it. I was making his pizza without crust or anything just meat cooked in bacon grease and cheese. But, since giving it up he has finally been doing good. I hate that he had to give up everything to be able to have relief, but, I'm glad he is doing better. I also bought him Seed supplement. We eat the same foods every day, sausage bacon and eggs when we get up, and hamburger and eggs later. He doesn't care because he no longer has the horrible hours of pain and bathroom runs he had before. We can't afford steak, so hamburger is ok. We used to eat porkchops but they have lost their appeal. We do bake chicken with butter, but, not often. Chicken has lost it's appeal as well. But, I keep telling myself - WE EAT TO LIVE, NOT LIVE TO EAT!!

I found that 'misusing' a cut of meat is really quiet economical. Getting a roast that costs about the same as hamburger and cutting into thin strips is pretty effective. Next payday I plan to get a chuck roll and see if it is actually worth it still. That should make the cost even less, and yield some great steaks. (There are many videos on how to do it) I grew up on beef, and it is quite nostalgic to cut and wrap my own for the freezer.

😊My carnivore journey started 8 months ago. At first I thought I couldn’t give up eating salad and berries. I was trying to heal from 3 autoimmune diseases and am a 73 year old woman so I knew my path would be long. About 2 months in, I gave up the salad and berries. I immediately started to gain weight. I was eating large servings of meat and broth and eggs and bacon and butter. My weight plateaued at a 10 pound gain. My clothes didn’t fit anymore and I was getting sad because I do not want to buy all new clothes and I looked flabby and felt uncomfortable. I took a good look at my food quantities. I was eating for pleasure and ignoring my sense of fullness. I started eating less protein but kept my fat amounts the same. But what really made the difference was I started going to Pilates and also started working out with a trainer. I’m lifting (very light!) weights and doing exercises targeted to my weak areas. I’m gaining strength and have lost a little weight. I feel amazing. I think the weight training is essential for weight loss for some people. I hadn’t realized how weak my muscles were until I started working with the trainer and going to Pilates. This may not be true for everyone who gains weight on carnivore but for me, at my age, it’s a big factor.

I got so sick on Monday the 22nd, that I left work early. I started Carnivore that afternoon. Explosive, liquid diarrhea has been a part of my adult life. I'm still experiencing that now. I'm afraid to eat any cheese since I haven't in about 3 years. I was addicted to cheese. Anyway, I've already lost 6 pounds. That scares me, cuz I've done that so many times. For some reason, my arm caught my attention and I realized the skin was moist. I'm not drinking any more water than I was, so it has to be the diet! Yay Carnivore! 🎉

very new at this. my 4th week. lost some weight the first week, not so much recently but I will not obsess with numbers. I'm feeling great. 71yo and have had no sugar in past 4 weeks, which is a very good plus for me as I was baking weekly. feel the pressure from people saying don't add salt, don't add butter, you can't have eggs every day, etc....too much meat, too much fat, this is really the hardest part of my journey.....I watch your videos and dr berry's regularly to keep me motivated....

If I give in, I'll only get more of them in an hour or sooner". A glass of carbonated (fizzy) water helped me at the start to get through the few minutes that a craving will last.

I started carnivore Nov30. I was fed up with my allowing myself to become lazy and out of shape. I had for rather a lack luster attemp at keto but didn't see much of anything which wasn't motivating. I happened to work with a fellow worker who's been a carnivore for the last 2 years and explained what he was doing and broke down the simplicity of it. I was sold and aside from a bit of a relearning curve of what foods work with me better than others, its been an awesome experience thus far. Down 40 lbs, energy thru the roof and feel like I'm in my 20's again. I feel fortunate for making the transition to this lifestyle just wish I would have done this earlier in life. Thank you for the informative and candid content

I"m a recovering sugar addict and am two weeks clean. That's how long I've been eating carnivore. I did keto from late 2014 to about 2018 or so but gradually slipped off it. I was not eating carnivore during those keto years. Since 2018 I relapsed and gradually put the weight back on. Once Covid hit, the weight really started coming back with it reaching the height of two-hundred sixteen pounds. (I'm five foot nine inches tall.) I tried reducing the carbs, but after a few days or a week the sugar cravings would come back. Then last August I became sick and was unable to eat much if anything for a couple of weeks and a lot of weight dropped off. Some of it came back and a few weeks ago it was two-hundred eight pounds. After a couple weeks of carnivore I'm at one-hundred ninety seven point eight. Presently I'm eating one meal a day with no snacking. My diet is limited to strictly animal based products and a little salt. The cravings are gone; I'm not hungry; and I've moved up a notch on my belt.

I wish more people starting a carnivore lifestyle would share the complications starting out. Im on day 14 of carnivore, stopped alcohol and smoking aswell. The 1st 3 or 4 days were a breeze and then a wave of fatigue knocked me for 5 or 6 days. I bought a botle of honey in the fatigue wave and realized my liver was screaming for sugar. I didnt give in and the bottle is unopened. I also struggled with dizzy spells and got a bit concerned because I didnt want to be reliant on electrolytes for the rest of my life. Day 11,12 my energy was back and salt water has helped for the time being. Im sure some people dont have any complications but for the masses that may want to start a carnivore lifestyle, transparency will help people to better prepare. Thaks for your videos, they are full of info and great to watch.

Been a Carnivore since 2020 and noticed some things and wanted to give my helpful 2 cents. 1. I was pretty much Keto so jumped right in...a little too aggressively. All I had to do was eliminate plants, but I also thought that meant I had to pack on the fat. It was a visual thing for me. I ate the rainbow, and with just meat, I felt I had to compensate with fat. That was my first mistake. I was nauseous for a week, confused if I was hungry or not; or thinking I was hungry but too nauseous to eat. DO NOT DO THIS. The subsequent 2 weeks, I stopped the excessive fat (putting butter in my coffee, force feeding myself tallow, salo, and buttersticks) and just stuck with ribeyes and organs. Whenever I was confused if I was hungry or not, I had beef broth, chicken broth, hydrating, but oddly filling, but didn't make me sick. You have to view the process as a process and a healing diet, and not an aggressive, masochistic punishment. Meat based eating is to help the body help itself. 2. I have also noticed that when it comes to "fad diets" people need branding...(vegan chocolate, keto burgers, etc) STOP. It is food. It doesn't need to be branded and don't try to find a "carnivore velvet cake" crap. Once your fat-adapted, you wouldn't even want to eat those foods. Just looking at candy or artificially colored foods, I see as a threat to my body. 3. Lastly, the irony of cravings: going carnivore eliminated my cravings for alcohol (my body just rejects it now), cigarettes, and generally materialism; you begin to realise all this stuff we buy is useless and is in support to buying more useless stuff like Skittles or Vegan Egg Burritos. Mental health and anxiety also gone. Thanks Bella! PS: FISH SAUCE is underrated with carnivores: its a life saver.

what would you use the fish sauce for?
@prestonchaunsumlit6055
@prestonchaunsumlit6055 7 месяцев назад
@@pauldolton9118 fishsauce has been my unsung game changing hero. Obviously for flavouring: sodium, umami, and it gives a sense of luxury to say something like boiled chicken. Its great to do a slow shallow butter fry of livers with a dash of fishsauce, or a confit. Yes, it smells fishy and strong, but when cooked and mixed with other things, it is not fishy at all. Great in broths for depth, in scrambled eggs, egg pudding. My general rule is to use it in cooking in place of soy sauce (not raw foods like sashimi) or parmesan cheese. Its great for meat marinades (awesome with marinades with honey if you take honey); super great in ground meat stirfries. It is also also not exclusive to southeast asian foods. I prefer Vietnamese fish sauces(more depth, less added salt), but the italians and japanese also do great fish sauces. Think of it as wine: varying qualities and different pairings. I can go all day about fish sauce, but yeah; experiment, cooking it brings out the flavors to support the flavor of the meat. A more dividing YET adjacent ingredient is SHRIMP PASTE. I lean on a more eastern palate, and these cuisines have so much more versatility, variety, and flexibility for anyone who going carnivore and afraid of the monotony or lack of creativity in their food. An example: i do a chinese stirfry of marinated beef livers in fishsauce, dredge in egg, cover in pork panko, strifry in lard with some shrimp paste. Beef broth and steamed egg pudding on the side, both flavored with fishsauce.
@prestonchaunsumlit6055

Also another angle i haven’t heard much when going carnivore: INSECTS. Yes, if done right can be a game changer. In Thailand I have had these spicy red ants thats go great on egg scramble; and in Mexico, dried insects pulverised into a salt powder and sprinkled on meat for a smokey, complex flavor. SO GOOD. Its not about eating your food like a Neanderthal, nor is it about being a Gourmand: it is about opening your mind and palate to a whole world of foods and health that we have been brainwashed to think of as unhealthy, primitive, disgusting, savage or non-palatable. Personally, as a former vegan for political reasons, fighting big pharma and big agriculture by going carnivore, also more than parallels colonisation and big business of American western food culture in general.

Can't get enough reminders despite my 6 yr Carnivore. The numbers and ounces versus grams to get the 80/20 or 1-2 ratio confuses my brain. It's such a great way to eat ourselves well. Bella, I am 71 now but previously I was Vegetarian for 45 years! I know, yikes. So when Menopause struck it knocked all my functioning out of wack. Melt downed with hot flash hell, 24/7, furious with this new hell and employer (at the wide spread plethora of abuses from the employer of remote Community agency - in a BC Women's programs); I'd suffered decades of constipation, #10 level of stress with autoimmune brain fog, confusion, sadness at the loss of my career forced due to collapsing in acute trauma... and the undiagnosed, but suspected Ankylosing spondylitis was full blown hell, had no friends due to my job in small towns and listening to women's survival stories for too long, as well as the damn traumatizing career. Women need to know this before menopause: eat fats and meats, manage your minds hygiene, make a couple friends somehow and change jobs if your riding the roller coaster of trauma layering build up. TI am so glad that hell is long gone. Now 72 I feel great and love my meals, but trying to put AI into remission Dr. Zsophia Clemens advises 2:1 fats to protein, hence my chasing numbers.

For me, animal based is the best eating plan for optimal health!! I always ate meat and generally avoided most fruit and vegetables due to having Crohns ( in full remission for years) but I ate carbs and seed oils etc. I just wanted to eliminate the inflammatory foods. I didn’t need to lose weight. I eat beef at every meal. I add cheese to the burgers or have cubed cheddar. I cook everything in butter. Sardines and oysters every so often. I still drink coffee with cream and it works for me. I also intermittent fast, one meal per day. I’m not hungry the rest of the day due to eating a ton of fat and protein. I supplement with collagen and vitamin D, done this for years. Benefits for skin, hair, body and most importantly, hormones, is why I’m animal based.

I have a short story to share: I grew up eating a ton of meat and no processed foods, but of course I ate vegetables. It wasn’t until I got older in high school that I thought it would be fun to eat more meat 🥩 and less veggies but still I considered vegetables important. Finally in college, I decided to go on a diet because i gained 40lb. I tried intermittent fasting which led me to have bad acid reflux, indigestion, and heart burn. Followed by an eating disorder where I didn’t crave food and I would eat about 300cal a day. Nevertheless, I finally came across Dr Tyna Moore video where she only ate meat butter and blue berries. She explained how bad veggies are. I was happy to hear that because I since kept getting irritation in my mouth from veggies, especially raw veggies. So I switched my diet to eating no veggies, just meat, dairy products and bread. Now I came across carnivore diet, and I am ready to start this! I am so excited. It’s been a crazy journey for me but I really believe veggies were never good for me. Even my body started reacting to it, and reacts to certain fruits also. You just need to listen to your body 😊

My biggest hurdle when being carnivore is just not wanting to eat meat anymore. It's not that I don't like meat or that I'm even craving anything else. I just can't handle the thought of another steak or some eggs or whatever. The only thing that really works for me is to just fast until I'm hungry enough to crave the meat again. I don't mind fasting either but sometimes it lasts for a long time before I want to eat. However I never feel bad in any way while I'm not eating so I don't worry about it. All I know is that if I don't choose to fast I'll wind up eating a bunch of fruit or something..

Eat a variety of meats. I discovered Cornish hens that are spatchcock cooked are out of this world. Eat different seafood, wrap meats in bacon and always listen to your body.

This happens to me too. When I forced myself to eat beef, bacon, butter and eggs last year, I managed to do it for six weeks and I felt like wonder woman. I had unlimited energy, amazing sleep, my blood sugar level and other diabetic markers improved dramatically. But I could not sustain it, and now I am exactly like you, I can go a week or more without eating beef. I have it there in the fridge and it stares me in the face every time I open the door, but I will inevitably choose a tin of salmon, or Some chicken wings. And I do not feel the same as I did when I ate beef, bacon, butter and eggs. I wish I could get back there

The thought of eating meat keeps me from eating anything. Been on this program for 6 weeks. Lost 12 pounds, but really hate the thought of eating. One meal a day is all I can take. I really like the keto diet so much better. Just thought I would try carnivore, not impressed. I don't really believe all the cures people rave about. I'm sure it has helped some people, but to each his own. I'll find a better way of eating, and just keep away from carbs and sugar.

I'm eating some cheese on my carnivore journey. I use a low-carb flour tortilla with a little cheese, steak, chicken, or both. I eat 4 scrambled eggs in the morning. I got rid of coffee in the morning, and now only drink water. Cheese is the hardest for me to give up. I admire your conviction and dedication to this diet. I'm working on my Bobby-approved snacks (Bobby Parrish-Flav/City) on RU-vid, and finishing them up this week. I saw your tortilla video on making those from chicken. I'm working on that this week. I've always eaten meat most of my life. I don't have sleep apnea anymore and working on lowering my BP with this diet. Can I keep some cheese in my daily intake? It's only in those tortilla roll-ups.

Tomorrow will complete one month that I'm on this carnivore diet, I already miss not have taken some photos when I started this diet one day after Christmas. As a brazilian guy, it's good to hear brazilian restaurants as your favorites to eat meat, like Fogo de Chão. Its a shame that here in Brazil, fogo de chão is expensive, and it's not the same quality that we have in other countries as well. But anyway, I'm in love with this diet and since day one I saw the benefits to eat meat.

@@SteakandButterGal, I am curious whether the cheese they (In and Out) use is as safe to eat as the beef. As much as I love the combination of cheese on a hamburger I lean toward beef patties only there and then eat some of the cheese I have at home when I get back there. I used to get uncomfortable going any longer than 4 or 5 hours between meals or snacks but since going LCHF and gradually restricting eating times I now can easily go 16 to 24 hours without eating and not feel any discomfort, which I found to be pretty amazing for my thin build. That makes it a lot easier to wait until I get home for both the burger and the cheese. The trade-off is having to do the prep and cleanup myself rather than paying someone else to do it.

To help with the “how much” question, as a 6ft 200lb male, I comfortably eat 3lb of meat per day. I share this because meal planning was difficult, in the beginning, because I didn’t know how much meat to buy at the grocery store, or better, the butcher shop. I buy 21lb of meat per week, just for me. I have 3lbs thawed in the fridge (for today) and 3lbs currently thawing in the fridge. I don’t always eat all of it, but it’s a good planning factor. If I have extra at the end of the week, I just subtract it from next week’s butcher run.

I’m back on track, lost 8.4 pounds this week so far after falling off the wagon. It shows as well, my hourglass is coming back the carb bloat is going away. The back pain is going away. That’s how I’m doing 🙂 boiled eggs, sausage links (real sausage), bacon, butter, boiled pork ribs, boiled beef. Protein shakes with espresso since I had weight loss surgery, I’ll eventually give them up maybe. I eat a lot of hot pork rinds with cream cheese dip.

If I go out to eat with others, I feel it's ok to indulge a little in foods I normally don't eat on carnivore, like actual bread on a burger. I don't go out a lot, so I really don't feel like it's a fail in any way. Last night I went out and was able to mostly stick to carnivore, and my friends don't care, but I also don't try to dictate where we can or can't go. Had great bacon, little grilled beef slices, and a hot dog with a real bun and some jalapenos. drinks were involved, oh no.

I have been carnivore about 3 months. I had a health scare a few nights ago waking up in the night feeling out of sorts, big pain in the solar plexus, erratic and very weak heart rate and dizzy. I rested in bed until morning when I had two cups of black coffee. My heart rate returned to normal by 10 am. Doing some research I found that this was not uncommon if you did not eat seafood and or organ meat. It seems it is a lack of electrolytes. I picked up some packs at the pharmacy here in Mexico and have had no problems since, 4 days ago and am eating some fish. Maybe you could do a short video on this subject. Other than that I love the changes in my body. I am a fit 77 year old. Love your channel.

Started Carnivore June 2023 and have only lost 13lbs. I feel so good I will not stop but I am so frustrated with such slow loss. (Haven't lost anything for the last 3 Months). I only want to lose about 25-30 lbs of mostly belly Fat.

@@Adreno23421 So you're saying that people on the carnivore diet who still drink coffee or have an alcoholic beverage from time are not actually carnivore?
@Adreno23421
@Adreno23421 7 месяцев назад
@@burtonedwards Coffee tends to be accepted into the carnivore diet, but is not really carnivore. Alcohol is a drug, not a food. Not sure how that equates inside of a carnivore diet. Sugar is highly addictive. As I see it (and I might be wrong), being carnivore and still eat sugar occasionally is like smoking a cigarette every now and then and still claim you've given up on cigarette addiction. Does it harm you? A bit, but it does not compare to the level of harm that it did whilst smoking every day/eating sugar every day. I feel like my argumentation here is a bit slippery slope. It's best that I say congrats on getting rid of sugar, it's one hell of a drug!

8 months carnivore. 35# wt loss. Down 2 sizes. I had taken pictures last summer. So I pulled them up and boy what a difference. I couldn't do other diets because they were starvation. I have no trouble with carnivore because I eat till i'm full. When I first started I was so hungry and ate so much. But now I found I eat about half as much most of the time as I did in the beginning.. I did have diarrhea for a couple weeks. And I do have to watch my fat intake, because I don't handle fat well.. I eat a variety of meat and I use spices. If i'm hungry I eat and if not I don't. I tend to eat 2 meals a day. I also eat avocado and rare wine or beer. Try not to be too rigid in your thinking. Everyone is different.

Now after 20 days, my morning blood sugar is in the 90's and I have dropped 11 lbs. I have not checked A1C yet ( doctors appointment on July 19th, I will get it checked then). 2 months and 4 days in. 29 lbs off. I can't remember feeling this good ever. I've never been a healthy person and my family never really cared that much. My grandma, my mom, my uncle and many other relatives had that bypass surgery because of weight problems. Now all of the sudden they think I'm gonna have a heart attack and sometimes I find that really funny, but most of the times I'm just frustrated because I can't convince them it would be actually great for them too. I didn't even use to consume red meat every week or any kind of meat everyday, sometimes just rice and beans since I'm Brazilian and sometimes with 2 eggs maximum because of the cholesterol. I feel like it's an amazing privilege to be part of the carnivore community since 90 % of people won't even listen a thing about it before judging.
