I’m 27 6”2 225 pounds and I’ve had one for a few yrs mines a 2005 I even raced it on a motor cross track but mine is heavily modified I have yz125 forks on mine bc the stock ttr230 forks blew out on my first jump and I have the carb jetted with a big bore kit as well bored over to a 249cc
@@SppeedFreek the fork conversion was quiet easy I took the whole front end off the 125 forks fork assembly and handle bars tire and all together as one piece right off a blown up older yz 125 it bolted right up to the tt230 frame believe it or not I just tried it when I was low on money after the stock forks blew I wanted to just try a whole front end swap and see what would happen and it turned out great feels like a completely different bike
Yamaha is a great brand, personally I can say, you get control, stability, and reliability at a great price. Are you wanting to race, or have fun? Because for enduros go. There is a bike, made pretty good for the price. HAWK DLX 250 street legal enduro. $1,800-$2,200. It's Chinese made, but look up reviews and order from their official website in Texas. Amazon charges 300 bucks for shipping. Contact dealer directly. EFI, electric and kick start. Led headlight, air cooled bike and it's surprising durable. Anyway, hope that helped you out bud. FYI bikes are cheaper in winter.
I can confirm that yours is not stock then, in 6th in a smooth paddock I got to 79 kmh or about 50 mph before I had to back off with maybe a little left.
2009 TTR230 here, best trail bike ever made as far as I'm concerned. Can't stall it, no radiator to puncture on a limb or rock if you dump it, easy to maintain. Why aren't these more renowned by other riders? Proof you don't need a high HP race bike to have fun, the TTR is the best bang for your buck all around bike. Get one and prepare to have fun!
I have a 23 ttr 230 I can’t find and oil change kit im calling about it tomorrow morning but I absolutely love the bike I put aftermarket bars and hand gaurds on it because I crashed and snapped the levers bent the bars and busted my gaurds off
Downgrade from my 400exc? Not in a million years....65mph wound tight when I'm put putting along and can zip outta sight wound tight at 90mph.... Nice bike for your young teen progressing along before tackling a powerful big boy bike they could hurt themselves on with no experience on big bikes
I'm looking for something cheap and for beginners. Trail-enduro use. KTM is just power houses and cost a lot. Yamaha is a good reliable brand, and are known for control and stability on the roughest terrain. I'll leave this to you guys, Yamaha TTR 230 Or Mint condition used, 2014 Suzuki RMZ 250. Suzuki is $5,000 from a friend who races. Think I'll leave this for a vote though. Friend of mine is wanting to get into racing, and the smallest bike I got to teach him on is KTM EXC-F 350 2-stroke.
@s277garage6 the suzuki rmz 250 is not 2 stroke.. he said the rmz 250 not the rm 250 which is 2 stroke..but you can't really compare them anyway even though they're both 4 stroke... the ttr 230 is an off road bike and the rmz250 is a straight up motocross racing machine
Only electric sadly. And you can’t bump start them either with a dead battery supposedly, because they run, but wont rev up high enough with a dead battery to get moving in first gear.
Check your battery and do a carburetor rebuild. Mine cold starts first try everytime. I let it sit for 6 months, it was sluggish but started up 2nd try
Thats unusual, out of my families 6 dirtbikes, the 2 TTR 230's are the most reliable. Start up ed very single time. They just dont like the cold. Under 40 degrees will certainly take longer to get em going.
It doesn't sit quite as high as the YZ 250, My 2016 YZ 250 was 39-40 inches, seat height. I'll look up the TTR 230 . Yes, the TTR 230 Sits 34.1 inches high. And the shocks are adjustable, so you could lower it an extra inch if needed. I'm 5,11. My friend who races started off on that 2016 YZ 250. He was 5,3---5,4 He couldn't even touch the ground 🤣😂 Anyway, the TTR 230 he could touch with left foot easily. So your answer. Yes it's be a great bike for starting out on.
@@Damn_Aje oh yes, it only sits 34.1 inches seat height. Compared to a YZ 250 there is a good 5 inch difference. And I'm 5,11. The YZ 250 seat height is 39-40 inches. So the TTR 230 is a great bike for beginners. You won't win any races against modded out 250's but it is a great and fun bike all round. Not to heavy either.
