Good review. Concise and to the point, no fluff. Nice camera work. The CX-30 has risen to the top of my wife’s choices to replace her leased Outback. She wants a smaller car and I want something without a CVT. Nice job Mazda.

The release of the turbo allowed me to negotiate a good price on a CX-30 Select in the beautiful red color. My wife and I share this car so I've only been able to drive it home and one lunch run. LOL! This may be my opening into getting an MX-5 RF for myself. 😜

Just bought a 2021CX 30 turbo for the wife, and this thing is great! Lots of smooth power down low ...interior looks like a much more expensive car with heated leather steering wheel and seats. I’ve already taken it off road and has 8 inches of clearance. The off-road setting works great! Only problem now is that my wife doesn’t get to drive it as much because I’m always using it!

This has happened to me. Recently got a Mazda 3 2021. Hubby now drives it on weekends and whenever he can. He tells me how much he loves it almost daily. Now I’m looking to get the CX30 for myself and give him the Mazda 3. What I don’t like in the 3 is solved in the CX30. I want a higher ride.

Did Mazda get rid of the front wheel drive models to jack-up the price? Unless a lot of winter and wet weather driving is needed, the AWD ends up with a smaller gas tank and reduced MPG what is the advantage?

One big reason you should think twice is the Automatic Parking Brake. It makes its use mandatory, cannot be disabled and is not intuitive about turning off if someone else drives your car especially if they delay putting on a seat belt. You basically give up control of whether or not to use the parking brake. And a parking attendant might just drive it with the brake on anyway.
@loeuf
@loeuf Год назад
why wouldn’t you want to use the parking break though?
@DRthistle
@DRthistle Год назад
@@loeuf I just want the option. The brake is not necessary for me most of the time. And I don’t want someone to drive/move my car not realizing they need to disconnect it. It’s a nuisance.
@loeuf

@@DRthistle that’s valid, a lot of stuff mazda keeps pretty controlled and locked down in their cars. tho i think it automatically disengages if you accelerate while in drive so that shouldn’t be a worry

@@Mrtellitlikeitis Hi, the Mazda 6 is an excellent car, but the sedan is far too big for my needs. I wanted to try a x-over. You never waste your money with Mazda. The CX-30 at the end of last year, here in the Netherlands, was already equipped with 12 Bose Speaker system and the new infotainment system. I was coming from the manual gearbox, and I have to say I prefer the manual gearbox over the automatic transmission: but I think it is a matter of tastes.

That ugly, generic, cheap-looking thick black plastic cladding makes me want to go invest in Armor-All stock. Other than that, the vehicle is pretty nice - & no weak/delicate/budget push-belt CVT transmission design (its biggest selling point IMO). I love that Mazda is still using & refining the traditional 6-speed geared automatic.

The cladding is no worse than many other models in fact looking at some of the offerings from Hyundai and Subaru with their large clunky odd shape plastic panels at least those on the CX30 are nicely symmetrical.

The cx-30 is a decent car, but it appeals to a 40+ year old crowd that believes they need 4x4 when going to theit cottage on a slight gravel road. For the normal people trying to have a family or need space in trunk....the car is a big no no.....Mazda have made their focus on trying to be a new luxury brand, the end. Certified people to instal baby seats in a cars rear seat were not able to put one in the mazda-cx30. Their target are post retired or older crowd. Its ok, and its their thing but the vehicle targeted buyer would be a good idea to mention when saying this is why you should buy the mazda.

I think that this car is a SUB-COMPACT CROSSOVER for a reason. People with growing families don't choose this class (unless you consider the Corolla Cross as part of it). However, as a primary vehicle for individuals without large, growing families...or for a vehicle not used for family road trips...or for individuals who are single or married without children living at home, this is the BEST VALUE in the class. It's decidedly more premium than the alternatives. It offers more power and features too. As for the AWD: It isn't about gravel. Many people do not live in cities. They have to traverse through snow, rain or other conditions that make this better than a FWD. I live in the Silicon Valley; but, our small family goes camping or on day trips to Yosemite or Tahoe. This is what we're currently considering.

Generally consumers stay away from mazda . Due to mazda not leading in fuel economy, cabin size and low cost per ownership. Sales dobt lie and consumers don't want mazda
@BostonAutoBlog
@BostonAutoBlog 3 года назад
Mazda sells 300k cars a year in the US, going up against brands that for the most part have lineups twice their size. It's not a matter of consumers not wanting Mazda products, but rather vehicle selection is limited. The brand also is moving more upscale and wants out of the Toyota/Honda/GM/Ford dominant price range and segments, which is why the CX-30 currently outshines any competitor in it's class in terms of refinement. Once the turbo arrives, Mazda now has a combination of an entry level luxury interior with an appealing performance for the price ratio that at the moment no one else is offering. Mazda has always been a niche brand, so I wouldn't necessarily compare their sales to manufacturers that have a more diverse lineup. It just comes down to can they offer comfort, luxury, performance, and affordability to make themselves more appealing than paying extra for a Lexus, Acura, or Infiniti
@inctru
@inctru 3 года назад
Most consumers are too ignorant to understand how cheap & randomly unreliable the push-belt CVT transmission design is in almost all new cars today, even if they do manage to get a few more MPG while they are working. Mazda decided to stick to traditional "sweet spot" 6-speed automatics, even if they cost more to make & get a few less MPG than a CVT. After decades of driving nothing but manual, my next car will be my first automatic & likely a Mazda CX-30 or Mazda3 sedan simply because it doesn't use a crappy push-belt design CVT.

Please this thing drives amazing and is number one in the class for safety. Has a luxury feel too. It's maybe not for everyone but I got more than enough bang for the buck. The car is simply amazing for it's price.
