I have an S5. Reasons to buy Sporty as hell Drives like a race car Hauls ass I have had it for 1 1/2 years. We get compliments monthly from men women old and young. It is beautiful and it stands out. As for fuel costs, if you can afford an S5 you don’t worry about fuel cost. I enjoy driving it every time i get behind the wheel.
But you know what? The RS5 as cool as it is, it’s not that much faster than the S5. It’s faster no question about it but not as much as people think it is. I’ve driven both. The design and the interior are practically the same. There’s no major difference but the RS5 will cost about $30k more. So unless you are really loaded and don’t care about the additional $30k to get the RS5 I would happily keep the S5 Sportback and I actually have one which I love and I did the whole RS5 research and believe me it’s not worth it unless like I said, you a really loaded and don’t care about the additional money. I’m thinking if I’m approaching the $90k to $100k territory I might as well get a nice Porche 911 with low miles but that’s just my opinion.
I have no idea why you would be complaining about the middle back seat. That’s not meant to be a 5 seater. Get a minivan. Put car in sport mode and it won’t auto start/stop.
People buy sportback for its practicality and I’m merely pointing out that the seat is not very comfortable. If i just wanted two seats I would have opted for S5 coupe. That’s one solution for auto start/stop but no one drives around in sport mode all the time. Thanks for watching.
I was thinking the same thing first he complains about the auto stop start then complains about the gas mileage i hve an Audi and i don’t mind the auto stop Start it saves me gas when i want it off i just push an button or put it in sport great video tho
I deeply hate start/stop... Have it in my 2017 Merc SLC and I must deactivate it every time I use the car. Thank god my 2017 S6 stays deactivated all the time once I turned it off when I got the car! About driving in sport mode to turn off s/s, I am not sure... I drive my S6 in comfort mode about 60% of the time.
he's not complaining he's just giving pros/cons. maybe that middle back seat is a deal breaker for someone. it's not a complaint, this is a good informational video, that's all.
None of those reasons dissuade me in the slightest, unlike the price tag or attention it brings. 1. I only need cupholders and somewhere to charge my phone 2. I'm not going to sit in the middle seat, or carry 4 adult passengers 3. I don't want a Kia, Merc or BMW 4. Stop-start is annoying to disable every time, but it's the same for most new cars 5. Premium gas is expected with a luxury performance car
I agree with u, merc or bmws fade in comparison to audis in most aspects. The only exception i would make is with the c63 amg S, that car is a beast power and sound alone!
I’m glad to see all positive experiences about this beauty. I ordered my S5 Sportback Mithos Black full loaded, am expecting it to arrive some time in June, but my 2017 A4 B9 with APR stage 1 on Daytona Grey Pearl effect is being just awesome. Audi’s have been so good to me
I have the Coupe, much less practical but I drive alone or with 1 passenger. I love the long doors and windows. My opinion is the Sportback would be my choice if I was 35 with kids but they are grown and I get to have what I want finally!
@@frankpuglia6615 I'm 37 with young kids. Looking at the s5. 😂. Solid daily driver, but still some excitement with functionality of a hatch. Our 2nd vehicle is the large family hauler
Dislike reasons: 1. No storage in the front = non issue. The only thing you need up front is paper work and a coffee. 2. No middle back seat = non issue. That's not a seat and I'll never be in the back seat of my S5, ever! 3. Cars you can get for this price point = non issue. The M3 is doodoo next to this and the Stinger!? it's a KIA, need I say more. 4. Auto on/off = non issue. Switch to sport mode. 5. Premium gas = non issue. If you can afford this car, you can afford the gas. Like 90% of the cars manufactured recommend premium gas. So, what you're really saying is there are 5 reasons you should buy an S5. Got it!
Just bought a used 2018 S5 Sportback with Dynamic Suspension and Sport Exhaust and agree with everyone else here, it's a freakin fastastic car. All the Shouldn't aren't applicable to me. My 2 cents, I think anyone looking to buy a S5 I think should hold off unless you're getting a good deal, I think a major update is coming and with the car market if you don't need a car, best to wait, also by saying that, look at previous years, there are only minor changes between the 2018 - 2023 model, it'll save you some cash and you don't lose out too much on anything. 2018 isn't a touch screen and no wireless apple carplay / android auto, but you can buy a device that gets you that for like $80 bucks. The interior is pretty much the same throughout the years from 2018 - 2023. I'm sure the processing and graphics and screen size is a bit faster and bigger but again you save quite a bit not going brand new.
That S5 is BEAUTIFUL! I had a 2019 RS5 Sportback in Glacier. I would get an S5. The whole A5 family drives smooth, sporty, fast, and looks better than anything out there IMO.
I have this car. There is an open/close storage compartment on the left side of the steading wheel, which has greater storage capacity then most glove boxes.
It definitely does, it’s just hard to reach if your trying to get something out of it while driving. Apparently that storage is there to keep your umbrella.
You can turn of auto start/ stop by pressing the button for it.... it is below the climate control, next to the drive mode Button... it’s labeled “A🔄“ don’t even need to put the car in sport mode
Audi B9’s eat Stingers for Breakfast. There is storage, I.e. door bins, to the side of the steering column, and the centre console. And It is not a filing cabinet! The rear middle seat is tight.. if you drive spiritedly you will chew fuel and being premium fuel yes it more expensive, but it is generally better for the fuel system and performance. My B9 S4 is an excellent car. Daytona Grey, Black Optics and Carbon Pack, Blacked Out Badging, extended black paddle shifters with a Flush Mount wheel spacer kit, I haven’t lowered it, not sure I will. It has Ceramic paint protection it always looks good. People do comment frequently. As I said these are a good car.
Is that "middle" seat actually meant to be a middle seat? I don't much about cars and currently researching what I wish to buy and this is my top pick currently.
For the auto on-off just always drive in S mode. It does not turn off then. If you bought this care you probably won't be driving in comfort or D mode anyway.
my take on ,on your con's that you listed: 1)You can always leave stuff in your glovebox or on passenger seat, carry little bag to put all your stuff in ? Nothing major here. 2)Middlseat in the back, you don't buy to driver others, like i wouldn't even care lol unless you are uber with s5 haha 3)It's just preference.... 4)You can code out start/stop function and it will turn off automatically everytime you start the car.. 5)Again,nothing super major here about fuel.
Hi, I once owned a car wich windows doors were frameless like your car. It had a tendency, at speed higher then 140km/h to make small whistling sounds as air pressures would change inside vs outside. Are the S5 windows quiet at all speed? Thanks... great review by the way!
I drove my S5 at 140 mph in a straight line downhill on a smooth long interstate and it was so quiet my girl friend didn't notice. I was waiting for a really stern rebuke, but when she noticed I slowed down
He said Kia stinger lol... Someone told me the Ford Fusion sport too. I was like naaa, the way the Audi drives on the quattro system is second to none. Theyre fast, tuneable, beautiful and still practical
All the complaints seem pretty petty. When purchasing a car shouldn't you figure out these things prior to purchase? Obviously the middle "seat" wasn't meant for passengers. The center console you should've have really checked it out since it's "your" car, you're driving it daily you should know you own driving habits such as ,where can I put this ot that for storage. Premium fuel is a "given" for a car such as this. Now if you're fortunate enough to buy this car then you should be able to afford its fuel and maintenance. Auto start/stop is common in most newer cars. If it felt to harsh or abrupt shouldn't you have figure this out when you test drove it? Pretty common sense.
@@phoenix3717 they are not the same car.. Power can be fixed.. Used a tuned s5 will be 20 to 30.000 less as a car.. Rs5 5 is wider sexier.. Sportier interior.. And heavy as a bus😉
@@commantrosexetlos4700 none of that justifies the 20k difference. An inch wider, 150lbs heavier, and 95hp? For less than 1k I can stage 2 tune an S5 to 479hp
@@phoenix3717 yeah but a Mk2 with awd and tuned to 800hp and 900kg it cost about 30.000 euros.. Its how it makes you feel..not whats faster.. That golf will rape rs5 tuned or not with way less cost
My wife bought an S5 today. We just watched a video where we learned of this compartment. It was there that I found the owner’s manual and not the glove compartment.
Well, there is plenty of space in front, you have 2 cup holders that if you don't have any cup, you can put stuff in. The arm rest is okay ish size for some coins something small etc. There is a quite deep storage under the steering wheel that you can put a lot of stuff inside, and huge door storage space. And about the price, you get what you pay, you could have a Kia stinger as you mentioned, but still you got the S5. I mean people who can afford an AMG, an M car, an S car etc. they don't really care if the pay 1-2k more to have the car they prefer.
Why are you saying premium is annoying to put in, I get 21 mpg in the city and 30 on a highway with a 15 gallon tank thats 350 miles of range in the city and 450 on a highway
Excellent! Trip to Charlotte NC. From Boynton Beach ⛱️, Fl. Returned 32.5 mpg @ 78 m.p.h with no issues. Under warranty with Carmax maxcare recent repair bill of $5,500 for oil pan leaking into something it shouldnt have. My cost for repair $150/ deductible. Warranty covered rest as well as a luxury loaner car from Audi West Palm for duration of repairs. Also a failed right shock
Other cars like kia Merc BMW are no way near in terms of driving experience Audi S5 offers. You typically don't need much holder space in the front other than coffee or glasses. Auto start stop must be shut off from the settings and not from the button on the front. - Audi S5 owner and an Audi owner since 2009.
I wish we could see the dash and out of the windshield of this S5 while you're driving it. I don't know why so many people aim the camera at themselves when driving? We can hear you just fine. You seem like a cool guy, so no offense to you, but we're here for the car, not the guy aiming the camera at himself blocking all of the views while driving it. I guarantee you'll get a lot more views and subscribers if you just point the camera out front or do POV style videos.
Dude. You don't buy an S5 to accommodate the person in the middle back seat. FYI premium gas goes in the M340i and C43AMG which are both priced higher than the S5.
No cup holders and storage is a reason to buy it - eating and drinking in Audis should be forbidden. A good video with some good points, but what is with the angle of your steering wheel?!
I'm sorry, but I cannot believe this fella's low energy level and off-target criticism of the car. It's a 4 seater - not a 5 seater. Both the BMW and MB mentioned require premium gas - so why does he cite this as a negative for the Audi? He opines the S5 is a good compromise between the A5 and RS5 - duh - that's what Audi intended. The Stinger is no doubt a competent car, but it is not a "luxury" car - the latter should cost more. For the most part the 5 negatives seem petty, while the 5 positives include major considerations - looks, quality of built, infotainment, etc. (btw - I have an A5 and luv it. My next one will be an S5 as i think the RS5 is too stiff for everyday driving.)
@@kaylen304 S5's only come with turbocharged V6. For a V8, you will be looking at RS6 or higher models. As for the exhaust you can watch my other video. Thanks.
Auto on/off is basically every new car. I believe it's govn't mandated for fuel efficiency shit. Also, if you buy a sports car and don't expect to put in premium gas, don't buy a sports car.
I have one ( grey with red interior) and it’s true you shouldn’t buy one. I leased one instead ! Lol. That’s the way to go. As with most nice cars they depreciate quickly with use and mileage so that’s why I lease. The car is freaking amazing. Beautiful design in and out. Nice technology. Great performance without going crazy but crazy enough. If you can afford it, go for it. I love my car. When it comes to lease options compared to similar BMW and MB models I actually got more bang for by buck with this one specially with all options that already come with S5. It’s a winner and a keeper in my opinion. No ifs, ands or buts about it. Hope this helps! 👍🏻
What’s your lease payment? I bought one never considered lease. I plan on keeping it for a long long time though. Gonna build the hell out of it in a few years
@@carramrod8232 I got my car before the craziness happened with the availability and increased pricing started happening so I was lucky. Mine is fully loaded $70k car and I paid only $2k out of pocket and my payments are $875/month with 15k/miles a year for 36 months. Today I’d probably be paying something like $1,200/month for the same deal. Considering the expensive lease programs for these type of sporty in demand cars these days but rather than paying for the full $70k plus tax upfront, I literary drove the car out of the dealership with only $2k. Also, I don’t like to keep my cars for more than 3 years. When the time is up (or even before in many cases) I’ll bring it up back and get another brand new car whichever model that would be. So basically the depreciation of the car plus a little bit on interest which is what I’d be paying for the car over time rather than at once if I’d be buying it anyway. It used to be ok to buy a car if you bought it for example with less than say 10k miles as it already took a big hit on the depreciation plus the car is still fairly new but now with todays prices I don’t know. However, if you are happy with your car as a purchase and you can comfortable afford it plus it’s depreciation that’s fine. Enjoy it. I’m still enjoying mine. I have to return it but Dec 1st although I’m sure that by the end of the summer I’b be getting offers from Audi to return the car early and that they’d take care of the remaining payments as long as I get another car. We’ll see what happens.
Go get a Kia Stinger. Why are you complaining about cup holders, the rear seat, auto start stop and prem fuel? Every car in the category requires premium fuel, women night complain about cupholders, and who won the world buys a video call based on the rear middle seat captivity in a sedan? Come on man
The octane rating is similar, the difference is the formula used to calculate, here in America we use the PON (pump octane number) and in Europe they use the RON (research octane number)
1... You missed the big ass glove box on the DRIVER side let alone the actual gloves box. 2. It's a "sports car" so you sort of expect small back seats 🙈 3. Price compared to a Kia??? 4. It's one 1 button push ONCE 5. Premium fuel is because it's a SPORTS CAR🤷 Jebus.... I was waiting for "rattle here" or "common problem with" Terrible review.
One thing you need to know is, on German cars you don't need to slam the doors. Performance cars require high octane gas because of the high compression engines, it looks like you didn't do your homework before buying the S5.
This model doesn’t have soft close if that’s what you’re referring to. I knew it require high octane gas before buying it, I just mentioned it if someone is considering to buy they know about this. Thanks for watching.
How are you complaining about gas when you bought a performance car. You must have been smoking crack before buying this car because I don't know what you where expecting putting in this car once you bought it
Picked up a s5 Audi used. There are no other cars I've owned that make me smile almost every day driving to and from work. I will be the first to admit that its not the most utilitarian car out there, but that's not why you buy an s series audi. Lost some credibility when you mentioned Kia Stinger in comparison with an Audi. Cmon Man (shameless Bidin quote).
I had a white 2018 premium plus S5 Sportback and now have black 2019 prestige with rear steer and 80bhp/80lb-ft ECU tune. You did not mention the huge storage to the driver’s left side only. You can fit an entire loaf of bread in there! As far as power, With “mild” tune there is no change in mileage unless you really go hard. But now feels close to RS performance (for far less $$). Overall, much sexier compared to C43 AMG, M340, Kia, Infiniti, TLX, etc. Rear steering compared to base car is truly a big difference, also. Personally like the slightly smaller non touch screen in the 2018-19 models.
That’s great! This one does not have rear steering. The only issue with a tune is it voids the warranty. I have to agree it looks much better than any other vehicle in its class/price range! I would have preferred if they had kept the dial along with the touch screen. I don’t mind the screen though display is much more crisp. Thanks for watching!
Just cause it says minimum 91 doesn't mean you can't put 89 or 88 in it, it's doable and doesn't hurt the motor if anything it makes it deliver less power
Because of the backseat? Who in their right mind buys an S5 for the back seat. Power get the ecu tuned? OMG! You have to turn the auto start off. Premium gas required? Who cares. If you can’t afford it don’t buy one.
C43 cost $10K More and it's smaller. The start stop can be turned off permanently off by a mechanic about 5 mins. All of these cars need premium fuel. Comparing this to a Kia?, ah c'mon man ! thats a Korean shitbox !
Maybe your idea of a sporty car should be a regular sedan like a Nissan or something similar. These types of cars aren't meant for family everyday driving you can get something similar for a lower price, you look unhappy paying that much for a car. Big mistake.
Phone and cup holder, weak argument no different than a4, 2 - rear seats good point, should be a two-seater, 3- pricing, buy used Kia? not with your money, 4 - auto on off/ not even worth mentioning, 5 - premium gas is for ALL turbo cars let along sports cars.
I want the m340 but I drove this and the interior is too nice. Mercedes was too flimsy and cheap. Bmw was very strong and high quality just like the s5. Bmw interior is boring
Who buys a audi and complains about the center rear seat wtf lol and the auto on and off isn't there a button that shuts off lol. Terrible reasons y u shouldn't buy it lol
Did you buy a car that expansive without doing your homework first? Premium gasoline is suggested, not obligated. I'm sorry, it's only your personal opinion. You have a beutuful classy sexy car. Adapt to it and enjoy your ride.
Most gas stations offer fuel with octane rating of 87, 89, 91 and 94 (not available everywhere) where I live. Audi Canada recommends 91 or higher for this model.
