I’m Māori n my whanau moved there from Whakatane. After 5 years we went back to the B.O.P. Going to primary school there I didn’t see much crime. I could walk for miles because home was boring. I would walk every where on my own n I was only 8. But times must’ve changed. But yr right, it is a small city compared to other cities in the world. And it did feel dirty and old to me. I’m glad we went back to Whakatane
Great video and totally agree on every point. Spent four years living and working there and found it to be hugely overrated and couldn't believe how many people were on meth from tradie's all the way up to the Exec's. Very strange place, I guess some people like it but I've been to far more upbeat, vibrant and progressive places, even within NZ.
I've lived in Wellington 22 years and never known heard or seen anyone on meth. My family and I never been burgled assaulted. The only two crimes we experienced were my son's car broken into, and may daughter's car, left overnight, being set on fire by kids. I used to live in Auckland and fine Wellington a far nicer town. Although I've noticed an increase in homeless people, and been approached beggars in the streets that never happened 20 years ago. But surely that happens in Auckland?
