Glad I just stumbled upon you podcast! I’m anxious to look at the website of catholic sacramentals available for purchase. But as a Catholic husband and parent, as well as grand father and godfather, I struggle with what sacramental to wear. They all come with glorious holy promises. I currently wear the “4-way cross” which includes on it, the Miraculous medal. There are also three different scapulars. You can’t wear them all - how do you decide?
Please pray for me brothers! I just realized today I am a recidivist sinner who has committed the same mortal sins everyday for 10 years without trying to amend my life. I went to Confession in High School but I lacked a true purpose of amendment so now I think all my Confessions were sacreligious. Now I am really afraid of going to Hell. Please pray to God to have Mercy on me and please offer up penances for me to help me atone for my very sinful past. Thank you!
Praying for you, Casey. But please do not let the enemy rob you of the certainty of God's mercy and love through His Only begotten Son Our Saviour Jesus Christ. You are sincerely penitent now and have a firm purpose of amendment. You have contrition and resolution not to sin again out of love and fear of the Lord. Jesus through His Church teaches us that this is all He requires of us in order to forgive us and give us eternal life. So be at peace. Our salvation is an ongoing process and daily we must continue to avoid sin and grow in virtues. Stay in sanctifying grace. If you fall go to confession. If we seek to follow Jesus He will never abandon us and nothing can separate us from His love. If we die struggling to obey Him, we are saved. Even if we have fallen a lot during that struggle. "Pro omnibus mortuus est Christus," the Bible, the Church and Catholic Tradition say. (Christ died for all.) That includes you. If He died for you and you choose to be with Him, what would He not do to keep you?
Our Lord can still forgive you for all your past iniquities, but do make now the proposition of amendment. Don't ever despair or believe Our Lord can't forgive you.
