Question: I made little bunny ears out of gum paste for my cupcakes. I let them dry for a couple hours on spoons, they felt very dry and secure. But when I placed them on top of my cupcakes (which were iced using Swiss meringue buttercream) the bunny is essentially melted and flopped flat. What did I do wrong? Should I let them dry longer?

You are so very welcome! Since you live in a humid place placing the mermaid tails on foam to dry is going to be really important so air can get to the the bottom of the tail as well through the holes in the foam to help it dry. The only difference when you live in a humid place is it is just going to take longer to dry and not much you can do about it but wait. You can check how your tails are drying by touching the base of the tail in the middle and see how hard it is. You are more concerned that the middle is dry so when you pick it up it is less likely to break. I suggest making some back up tails just in case. You may live somewhere so humid that the outside of your tail will always be a bit tacky and that is fine it will still be strong. The only time it may be a problem is it could make it difficult to paint. In this case you can use a new, clean blow dryer to dry the surface temporarily while you paint it and then it will just moisten up again due to the high humidity. Does that answer your question? Let me know if any other questions come up. Good luck! 😊

I used TMP Super Gold Luster Dust it is a non-toxic gold dust. Another option is Bakell Super Gold Luster Dust that is an edible FDA approved gold dust. You can see how this gold dust looks in my gold drip video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ce58m1M9KJM.html They are both really pretty shiny gold but if you are matching to 24K gold the TMP matches better.😊

Hi! Great informative video! I’m in Europe - is this rolling fondant or sugar paste for modelling please?

Hi! Thank you! Ok so I think in Europe rolling fondant is what we just call fondant in the U.S. ...the stuff you roll out and cover cakes with. If that is correct then I was using rolling fondant in this video. I think what you call sugar paste for modeling in Europe we call gum paste in the U.S....the stuff that dries harder and is typically used to make edible flowers... If I am correct on that, although I did not use sugar paste in this video it can be used in this mold as well, it will just be easier to break because it dries even harder so it can be more delicate. Does that make sense?😂
