@@eddy67 yeah, when I first demo'd it, they were 99 quid which is just at the top of my limit for "budget" pedals. He's had to put the price up a bit as parts got more expensive and honestly, the extra 20 quid is worth it to support a small UK company for me. I did mention it as I know it's not for everyone though
It depends on what the pedal does I guess. The TC Electronics Combo Deluxe '65 costs about $150 and I'd consider it a budget pedal considering it's a fully featured Fender amp modeller. It's missing the effects loop but it has tone that can stand up against the ACS1 for half the price.
Yip. The Flamma delay and reverb were the first pedals I bought, when I got back to playing guitar, along with the Caline Blue Sky MXR Timmy clone. The modulated delay on the Flamma is awesome.
YES! More like this, please! Definitely tired of reviewers so often showing the same old thing or whatever happens to be new. More weird stuff! You've just about convinced me to get some of these pedals. I've always loved your reviews and one of the main reasons is the variety of pedals you review. I've discovered so many companies I never heard of through your channel. Great stuff! 😎👍
@@ThisDarkeSoul I'll definitely look at getting in some more oddballs. They don't often do the best on the channel but I'm all about giving some back to the dedicated people that come here week on week. If there are any weird pedals you think could fit, feel free to drop em here and I'll see if I can get em in 👍
@@BudgetPedalChap I'll absolutely do so, sir. Oddball pedals may not bring the most views, but as an occasional detour from the norm, I think subscribers will come to like it. Josh Scott at JHS Pedals will sometimes do videos on weird pedals or pedals with an interesting history. Personally, I love that stuff, but I'm a history nut. Lol My current favorite weird pedal is the Way Huge Atreides. SO much fun.
If you want cheap and weird then have a look at secondhand 90s multiFX such as Zoom, Alesis, Digitech etc and some of those also do bit crushing intentionally, (they all do unintentionally to some extent. 😆). If you are worried about your tone being crushed as some have a rep for doing that then use a A,B/Y box to mix back in some untreated 'pure' guitar tones even get 2 MultiFX units and use the A,B/Y box to split your guitar signal and go for some parallel processing.
@@ralphhathaway-coley5460 Oh yeah, some of those old Digitech pedals are bizarre. I feel I must someday own a Gonkulator just cuz the name is awesome. Lol
@@ralphhathaway-coley5460 funny you mention that, I happen to have an old zoom pedal from my youth kicking about. I've been tempted to give it a go and see how gnarly the sounds are 🤣🤣
@@Keith-rk4td yeah, I had the octane pedal when I was younger and didn't get on with it. It almost seemed faulty as it didn't track across the entire neck
@@JasonWharton82 I'd urge you to check out the grimalkin, which is the big brother of this one. It's got 5 controls and allows you to dial in the subby tones and glitchy textures 👍
In the sort of £50-60 sweet spot, and weird with it I like the EHX Hot Tubes. Really love the unique tones from it, has as much character as many old amps. It's an original circuit, there's nothing much like it, and it's really affordable. If you can stretch to the Hot Wax, you get a very flexible dual drive Crayon/Hot Tubes pedal that covers a lot of dirty ground. Shout out to the GUPTech DOnut too, because Crowther Hotcakes sound fantastic, a match made in heaven for a VOX AC30. and there aren't many affordable options out there for around $100. And I love their styling and colour options, as well as the great tones. EHX Octavix sound glorius too, and a bargain for an octaver fuzz. Above that price point, the KMA Queequeeg 2 I mentioned is superb.
I always assumed the hot tubes was just a clean body, so I never really gave it much attention. I might have to get one in, it sounds right up my street 👍
@@BudgetPedalChap It can be a clean boost. But, really I think of it as quite a dirty little grotbox pedal. It's some odd CMOS chip-based circuit. Has some of the character of fuzzes that sound like amps cooking full bore, maybe like what a Way Huge Swollen Pickle does, or even a Turbo RAT. But, it's a warmer, tubier sound that's less aggressive. That kinda reminds me of a Tweed driven very hard. Like what you'd hear on a amped up Neil Young record like 'Cinnamon Girl'. edit: yeah, just checked and seems Cinnamon Girl was a 1959 Fender Deluxe Tweed maxed out full volume. That's what I'd compare Hot Tubes too, but maybe with a bit more grind/crunch and hair, like a cooking AC30. And a fuller bass, like the Nobles ODR-1. You can get a good idea of it on Rhett Shull's '6 Great Budget Overdrive Pedals For Guitar' around 10:20 mark.
Gokko Magwai deserves a mention for its erratic fuzz, especially if boosted by another pedal. Strange little thing that I still haven’t decided to keep or not. It can do overdrive or fuzz, I think you’ve covered it before. Love the channel, keep up the great work
@@darkhorseparanormal yeah, I have covered that one. It's definitely not your average pedal, that's for sure. It'll definitely be a contender for a second vid 👍 Cheers for the kind words
Really enjoyed this one Chappie. I really really dig the ritual pedal. Another quirky one that's a little bit more than what we normally dive into on this channel that I can't recommend enough is the Antichthon.
@@jfiery yeah, ritual make some crazy stuff and Wub, the guy behind it all, is a massive legend too. I'll have to check out the Antichthon, who makes it?
@@BudgetPedalChap Catalinbread. Definitely need to use your volume and tone and go a little light on the gravity knob get a humbucker guitar and all the controls become very very Interactive. As in the toe knob on the neck pickup well affect the sounds you get even if you're on the bridge pickup.
Good evening, great insight into the world of selected pedals, I have Caline Mariana at home, great effect for reasonable money, Joyo Octaver very good effect (for those who need it), great review. Greetings Pavel CZ.👍👍👍
@@BudgetPedalChap Well done you! I suspect some of these effects will suit the home recorders/studio fans. All feels a bit early Sabbath to me, with some Psychedelia thrown in too🤔🤔👍✌️💜😊
Came hoping to see the Mariana, was not disappointed. I keep mine set on The Abyss and use it for everything from subtle ambience to big synth pad style washes.
@@Madtroid no reverse I'm afraid, but you do get tremolo, vibrato and pitch altered reverbs in with it. I've got a demo on the channel going through all of the modes so feel free to check it out and see if you like what you hear 👍
Very fun video! I have the Hotone version of the bitcrusher and it is a blast to play! I might need to compile a list of weird but musical pedals myself!
You knocked it out of the park with this vid BPC 🎶 👍 It has all the bite of Halloween before it's even here 🎃 Great group of pedals & the first & last pedals are a must have, so thank you for demoing them
🤣🤣 I didn't even think about the Halloween tie in but it absolutely does The oddballs don't often get the same amount of love, so I thought it was a nice one to shed a bit of light on the overlooked ones. That ritual fuzz is a bit naughty isn't it 😉
Been watching your reviews for a while, what do you think of mosky pedals? I have the Silver Horse and I am thinking of getting their hand wired TW Distortion, thanks for the demos!!!
@@zacru7007 aww thanks, very kind of you to say. All of the Mosky stuff I've tried has been pretty good, so I'd imagine the distortion would at very least be decent 👍
Hey bud, we don’t sell this pedal but as a seller of Mosky pedals, I can confirm they are superb. I’ve sold hundreds of them over the last couple of years and I’ve never had one returned. I’d say go for it 🤘🏻
@@affordaboard thanks man, good to hear, I'll probably have to order from ali express, I saw one there and the demos sounded good, thanks for a recommendation!
@@BernRappold Cheers, thanks very much. The clips are taken from my full videos on each of the pedals, I've made sure it's out of the way for the main ones but I probably should cover over the text for these clips so it doesn't look as messy. Thanks for the tip 👍
@@BudgetPedalChap Oh, it doesn’t look messy to me. It’s just that it sometimes blocks out text I’d like to read. Hope you are happy and well. I love your videos.
Try out ginean pedals there part for part clones of dod pedals they have a gonkulater, carcosa fuzz and boneshaker overdrive and gunslinger distortion clones I have the gonkulater and carcosa clones and there great only 50$
I didn't even know about them. I've heard some great things about those classic dod pedals, so I'll definitely be trying to source some of those. Cheers for the tip 👍

That's the term for the songs found in the 8 and 16 bit consoles because their audio was created by a dedicated chip. Usually kind of midi instrument sounding, lofi songs but often had loads of charm. Hope this helps 👍
I like the infornation in this snd many other videos, but when did all YT'ers become do narcissist to think i want to look at their face full frontal for at least half the video, even when it is clearly perfect ror radio ?
