I love my shrimps but I also love my fish and keeping the two together has always been the ideal. But not all fish are as shrimp friendly as we may like and some are downright disastrous. This little video is bout 5 of my favourite shrimp safe fish species to keep. For the most part they are easy to come by and relatively cheap.
They include
Hillstream Loaches
Panda Corys
Celebes Rainbow fish
Harlequin Rasboras
Ember Tetras

Lights
Nicrew Classic LED - amzn.to/3fG3Uv6 - Traditional led light that's got a nice high output in a white/cool colour range. Makes plants look extra green.
Nicrew SKY - amzn.to/3Ktn45U - really nice light for natural looking tanks, also the one I use for filming.
Filters
Pat Mini - amzn.to/3fE1u0k - popular for a reason, just a superb little filter thats great for shrimp tanks and fish alike.
ASAP - amzn.to/3nBuytp - the old favourite and the one i return to most frequently.
Air Pump
AP-3 Kit : amzn.to/34UMA3q - Great little air pump, not a silent runner, but has been very reliable for me.
Tanks
Scaper 45 - amzn.to/3KBxG2H - a lovely high quality tank that comes with a super strong light, and a decent enough hang on back filter - perfect for newbies and scapers alike.
My filming stuff
Camera - Cannon 200D - amzn.to/354OLlc - nice camera, easy to use.
BigTripod - Manfrotto befree - amzn.to/3GLXDdj - pricey but super sturdy and can take being knocked over a lot by clumsy operators.
Lil' tripod - amzn.to/355WmQs - can't pronounce the name but it's been a good tripod for filming things on tables or when I have tanks on the floor.

I have both Harley Quinn, ember and glow tetra. All do amazing with shrimp.❤

awesome video. my fav fish to keep with shrimp are green neons, endlers , pygmy cories and hastatus cories

Nice videos. Very informative and cover all the bases. Just a note that in addition to the Hillstream Loach, and Harlequin Rasboras, I keep Cherry Barbs, Guppies (incl. Endlers and hybrids), and Ottos with my Cherry Shrimp. No problems. I have my eye on Praecox Rainbow fish, because I've kept them before, but not sure if they can go with the shrimp. Of course snails aren't a problem with shrimp.

Thank you, such helpful video! New to shrimp keeping, have some ember and panda cory, couple speceas of cory actually. I've had bad luck sadly with harlequin rasbora but plan to give them another chance when I get some bigger tanks set up!

I love your awesome videos, and in that light my question may seem a bit questionable, but what fish would be good to keep a cherry shrimp population under control? The thing is….my cherry shrimp are VERY happy and multiply exponentially. They’re with cory’s, otos, platies, columbia tetras and an ancistrus. Apparently none of my fish are eating shrimp fry and I dislike scooping shrimp for donations or sales as it causes stress to the fish. I tried angel fish. Worked too well. Shrimp gone in no time and angels grew exponentially in size. That was a tad harsh. Now…I am considering fivebanded barbs, but heard you say in your video featuring them that they will tear the shrimp apart. I don’t like the idea. I prefer a type of fish that will eat the fry and leave the adults alone. Am I looking for the impossible? My tank is very well planted.

One female imbellis betta worked wonders in mine. Other singular female betta work well too but they do tend to pig-out a bit more than an imbellis female

i have a 37 gal community tank and a 20 gal with 2 golden ram cichlids and some guppy. i bought some cherry shrimp for both them and some of the fish ate them and others died off. i have a 40 gal just for cherry shrimp and some dwarf corydoras and a few guppy. i shouldve known better before putting thm in the tanks. the ones i have now i got for 2$ each, the ones i lost were from petsmart and were 6.99 each

Do you have any experience with keeping cherry barbs with shrimps? I am getting mixed advice. Some say that they will attack shrimps. Any insight?

Hi, hope you are well. I have done something a bit silly....I did a 70% water change at the weekend and since then I have had 5 shrimp die. Will this continue to happen or will they get used to the new water? I don't know what to do now to stop them dying. Hope you can help x

Why would you do that? Read on the animals you keep.. they like minimal water parameter changes let alone almost the whole tank. 15-20% every 2 weeks at most

Ember tetras destroyed my baby shrimps and my adults.

I love shrimp. I have them in all my tanks with different fish. I don't recommend them with female guppies/endlers.

Is it the larger females? I have guppies with mine and no problems. However, I ended up with so many fish it was ridiculous, and so I've been culling out all the females and some of the males.
