Yeah I got a couple of carniverous snails from a fish shop, and they ended up being way more trouble than they were worth! Oh sure they killed the pest snails for me... but then they BRED, and pretty soon, I had way more of their little mini-me's, snailing about in my tank, than I ever had the other invasive kind! 🤦🏻♀️😩 lol UGH... lesson learned! Instead, I'm just gonna pick 'em out with my long tweezers, and give these babies BACK to the shop where I got their parents from! I'm not trying to breed these suckers for anybody damn
There are many very good videos from various people around the world who cover a wide range of subjects. However, having watched many of them, I'm afraid that the best that they can hope to achieve is to be a close second to Lauren @ Tiny Menagerie. Lauren's manner is always relaxed, informative and more like a friend talking to you about a favourite fish, than someone 'telling you like it is' Thank you, Lauren, this video is delightful and interesting, just like all of your others.
Just an FYI, they hate Kubotai Rasboras. Mine were super stressed by them, horrible bullies! Anyway they are doing amazingly now, get some emerald dwarf danios as tank mates 👍
Great video, I finally got rid of my hair algae problem after a year or so...i added more plants did a couple water changes and stopped being lazy mostly. but my plants are kicking butt :)!
Hair algae is not an infection, it's but to an imbalance of phosphates to nitrates. All you need to do is manually remove it or hit it with a little hydrogen peroxide to get it to go away. From there you just need to process a bunch of water changes to reduce the phosphates. Done and done 😊
I got rid of hair algae in about 4 to 5 months by careful feeding and trimming leaves of affected plants , introducing more plants to the system and water changes of 24 to 30% at least once a week. Mollies and Siamese Algae Eaters helped too.
I have 5 Kuhli Loaches for more than five years, and they are still alive and well. So far, the best scavengers and get along well with cherry shrimps. The thing we must pay attention to is: They don't like instant light turning on and off (dimming recommended), also they're really sensitive to aquarium salt and other chemicals. Any slight vibrations, like tapping the glass, can get them spooked and stressed. They may injure themself or jump out of the tank by that.
My white cloud minnows by accident damage the tail with filter someone knows how I treat it? It’s is so healthy but so playful that’s why happens can someone help me
Hello. I am a fishkeeper currently living in the tropics (so I don't use heaters). Due to conflicting guides online relating to this fish, I only kept them in a 15 gallon wide dirted tank and with no free space at home, a bigger tank was not possible. I started with 6 killies and managed to breed them successfully even with a pair of male endler guppies. Although they are more than 6(8) now, I managed to keep all of them alive for months now. I have given away the population above 10 to someone else while keeping those remaining 10 in that same tank. I believe the key was heavily planting that tank for their hiding spots while still having some space for them to swim around especially when feeding them.
I accidentally left a giant tape worm in my shrimp tank and now I can find it how do I rid the fish of tape worms without hurting my shrimps. Please help
I wonder if the size difference is species/collection point related? If a pair of small yoyos breed, would their offspring vary in size or also stay small?
Nightmare the pest snails. I have an outbreak in a 38l tank following additional plants I added. Tank is well maintained and was looking fantastic until the snails. Got 4 dwarf honey gourami but they not interested in the snails. Just tried the courgette and got a good few out. Will leave it in longer upto a week to see if I can get the rest. Loads of baby snails now.
My snails are completely mental about carrots! Cooked carrot coins for preference but raw carrot gets to the consistency they like given a bit of time in the tank.✌️
I'm not wanting perfect shrimp. I'm just wanting a lot of them to enjoy myself. I have a large tank with just a good school of tetras and a few snails.
Ive added some shrimps twice they have disappeared? Except a few? Do tetras eat them. Anyway I've set up my five gallon tank and now it's well cycled. I've ordered some red shrimp just for this thank until they get larger. I want baby's too but I would love them all in my big tank? Is it possible to move them once they are bigger? Or will my tetras eat there babies? I have another five gallon tank so should I just keep them in the small tanks so they all live??
Tetras will eat all shrimplets they find. But a few will survive if they have enough hiding places. I would keep a colony in their own tank to be safe and just add larger ones to the big tank now and then to increase the numbers in there.
I have four Kuhlis in my 29, can't wait to get more! Most of them hide under the driftwoods and rocks, but one that I named Deku, has made his home inside of a dwarf sword plant in a back corner. He will stick his face in the substrate and his body stands straight up amongst the leaves and its just both the silliest and cutest sight. One of my albino cories likes to go hang out with him. After wanting these guys so badly for a year, I finally had a big enough tank and the hype is real!!! They are show stealers when they do make their appearance ❤ Great video as usual!!!!
Brilliant video, very informative! Just wondering but do you know how many females should be with males? I've got some, but where very young, they've just started getting their colours and now there are more males to females!! Ive only got a 45l tank so dont want the females to become stressed!
loaches are my all time favorite type of fish. i had some beautiful & crazy looking horse faced loaches who would bury themselves in the sand! i had some skunk loaches who i loved too but havent been able to find any horse-faced or skunks in over 7 years! i also like zipper. zebra & chains
i love my yoyos! 2 of the 3 i have now are voracious pigs who prefer bladder snails above all other food , i even have a special tank just to grow plenty of bladder snails for them. the 3 i have currently all refuse to eat malasian snails, though some i have had before would eat them. they will eat ramshorns when they get desperate for snails if i havent given them any for at least a week. they also are great to eat unwanted gupoy babies. they eat about 90% which is a rate i can keep up with so i dont get overrun with guppies. i have them in a community tank with the guppies and some kuhli loaches(who only occasionally will eat a snail, except when i crush them, then they will eat them happily) great video! : )
these are not a clean up crew, i hate that common misconceptions. people like you shouldn't be making videos about caring for a live animal. consider stopping for the health of these creatures, you're a monster.
I inherited one monster yoyo loach...it must be at least 6 inches if not bigger and lives under my internal filter cover. I have a 4 foot tank and even that doesn't feel big enough for it due to it speeding around the place 😂. Brilliant video as usual. Thank you ❤
