I got a small and practical from the Foam Factory, and serves its purpose for me sibce my dios are just to enhance my display and collection still do a lot by hand. Those state of the art one Ibsay are for commission builders that can do them faster.
A few thoughts, and some (hopefully constructive) feedback -you refer to the machine as "the proxxon" which will make your vid harder to find for people searching for "hot wire cutter" stuff. I know proxxon as a brand for a lot of things - multitools for instance. So hearing this as "the proxxon" caused some unnecessary, low level confusion for me. Maybe it's because I'm more of a sculptor than a model maker? Possibly -i would have liked to have seen some more comparisons with other hot wire cutters. Not so much more alternatives, but more things that make this one special - is it the capacity? What other things do you look at? What do you like here that you miss with others? With tech reviews I watch, that's the sort of thing that really adds to the value of the video -a lot of the things you mentioned could be applied to any new shop purchase. I absolutely don't mean that as a bad thing. It's just that you could have pointed this out, framed it more like this, and added to the perceived value of the video. -lastly, you could also have considered self-made hot wire cutters. I myself purchased a lab power supply and made a big tabletop one and a handheld one. Achievable, satisfying, and worked better than any store-bought cutter I've tried. Lastly, I think your production value is great, you seem like a natural presenter, and I hope you get something out of these thoughts I shared. Cheers!
Thank you so much for taking the time to provide me such detailed and well thought out feedback. I do take this as constructive and think you make several valid points here. I chose to focus on The Proxxon hotwire cutting table because it seems to be the standard amongst model makers and it's the only hotwire table I have. I do think a video that puts this head to head against another hotwire cutting table would make for a great video. Thanks for the kind words about the production and my performance. I really appreciate you checking this video out and taking the time to leave a comment. I hope you'll watch some of the other videos on the channel.
I'm not wanting to make dioramas, unclear what that is, but for other business purpose. The problem is I don't know if it will cut thick cross linked PE foam, and can't find anywhere where someone used for XLPE foam. I looked up on Amazon, and the only thing I found was other people asking if it could cut XLPE foam.
I'm honestly not sure. It cuts XPS foam extremely well. Dioramas are little display pieces that people often use for war gaming, action figures or other small scale figures.
