To be honest, a lot of Sonic games need ports, remasters, or remakes. Many games are stuck on old hardware that not everyone owns anymore, and could use some touching up like Sonic Heroes. I know you can emulate these games, but it's easier and more convenient to just play the game without going through the nonsense of setting up an emulator. You brought up a good point with Sonic Rush. The DS version is probably the best way to play it, since you have the stylus for the certain things in the game, which is something that's absent from an emulated experience. Trust me, you don't want to use your mouse cursor in the Sonic Rush Special Stages. My fingers hurt after every Special Stage. Also, not everyone has a PC, so games like Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 are stuck on old consoles unless you have Xbox and use backwards compatibility. PlayStation users don't have that, so I'm sure they'd be very welcome with getting a port of some kind; and even as an Xbox user, I'd still like a lot of the older games to make their way onto newer hardware.
That is true. I still have every Nintendo console I had since I was a child, but said consoles are merely part of my collection. Hopefully, we can see remasters in the future.
i played Rush first time on Emulator, it takes getting used to but it works pretty well, though the touchscreen special stages are awful on mouse and way harder than they already were. Rush might need a remake just because so much of the games design is tailored for the system, including swapping view from top to bottom of the screens. It would be more likely to just get an all new Rush or Blaze game instead.

I think it would be really cool to get a Sonic and the Black Knight remaster. Surely you can have the sword mapped to the right stick/mouse? Also that game has my favourite characterization of Sonic.
black knight could probably work without motion controls considering zelda skyward sword hd had and option for button controls and that game had way more of a focus on motion controls than black knight did
This is question I been always asking myself and that is what Sonic games are going to get remastered like Sonic Heroes, and I been hearing a lot of rumors about Heroes getting a remastered. The only thing that Sonic Unleashed to get a ported to Nintendo Switch, Xbox, Play station and more. I think a game in my opinion needs a remaster is Adventure 1 because the improvements SA1 is the cutscenes, gameplay and little bit, voice acting, boss fights and that’s it. The biggest remaster that I need is Sonic battle because I can’t play it because I don’t have the console to play the game. Great video My Dude)
Sonic 3D blast should get a remaster where it has a different gameplay core. Here is my idea : Sonic at the start of the game will have the rolling ability only for now and then overtime he unlocks a new ability and the flickys can serve as power ups because it was explained that they contain lots of energy different than the other animals but let's say the types : Wato : a water type bird which when we you use their ability sonic can walk the water. Fai : a fire type which can enchance sonic and make him faster and walk on the lava like nothing and also you get some rings back automatically. Geio : a ground type which makes sonic able to slam the ground and it can be like a chaos blast at that. And when you unlock more types You turn into chaos sonic, a being with elements and he defeats eggman freeing the flickys and they have a farewell.
Unleashed is a complicated situation considering there's two main versions, both of which have fans who want modern ports. Personally, I'd like to see straight ports of both versions with minor QoL tweaks ported to modern systems and with optional 60 and 120 fps modes bundled together into a single "Sonic Unleashed" Collection. I'd like to see a collection of remakes for the Advance and Rush games. The GBA's screen was very low resolution, which resulted in a lot of games feeling "zoomed in", and a common complaint about the Advance games back in the day is that when you get going fast it's easy to fall victim to not being able to see what's ahead of you in time to react to it. A Sonic Origins style remake (uses the original graphics but takes advantage of modern screens) with some physics tweaks to make the characters feel less clunky and heavy in those games and some various other QoL changes would be very appreciated. The Rush games need remakes specifically because they were originally very specifically designed to run on the DS, taking advantage of both the double screens and the touch screen. They need to be reworked to function on a single screen and without need for touch controls. It would also be a good opportunity to replace the blocky, low poly 3D models with newer, somewhat more high poly ones and maybe even replace the voice clips with higher quality ones if they exist. I would also very much appreciate a modern port of Sonic Heroes, especially if it included some fixes for things that were widely criticized with the original release such as the bad grinding controls that often fling you to your death when you try to switch rails. I'd relish the opportunity to play a more polished version of the game since the original release was very frustrating to play after just a few levels in. I'd especially appreciate it if they didn't force you to play through Sea Gate and made the Team Chaotix playthrough entirely optional as well. Maybe even just unlock the final story when beating the main game as any one of the other teams to reduce the bloat forced onto the player in general.
It's really not complicated at all. They ignored R̶u̶s̶h̶ 3̶ Colors DS, they will ignore Unwiished. I would personally much prefer a remake of the game rather than a remaster anyways, so Unwiished should be the job of the fans anyhow imo, because I can't see Sega and Sanic Team remake a secondary game when they could just remaster a corresponding primary game instead.

I would most likely enjoy all of those picks. Sonic Adventure 2, Heroes and Unleashed are all among my absolute favorites so far when it comes to Sonic. As that I really like Team Chaotix personally, I still look for that someone might finally decide to port Knuckles Chaotix so I can try that one.
To play Sonic Adventure DX, 2 and Unleashed in the current gen, you just need a Xbox One or Series to play the Xbox 360 version with enhanemends, like smoth framerate. I fear for a remaster after Sonic Colors Ultimate, because it's more probable to Sega outsource the port than to use the source code (if they still have it) ot to ask Sonic Team to rebuild the game from the ground up. Sonic Heroes is a game who really needs a remaster, because one of the reasons of why the original game was never re-release on Xbox BC or PC via Steam or GoG is because the game uses the RenderWare engine. Persona 3 Reload is just a example of a game who escaped from that engine prision. Sonic Rush is amazing, but it will not bring the same experience of porting the Special Stages, once it heavily uses the touch controls. To a remaster work out, a new Special Stage must be designed for a re-release. I would love to see a Sonic Advance Collection in a good emulator with all the game's features (including multiplayer with single and multi-pak) with all 3 Advance games + Battle and Pinball Party. Or a Riders Collection with Riders 1 without RenderWare, Gravity Zero, and Free Riders Kinect-free.
I would love a sonic adventure 2 battle remaster,plus they can add new chao and add all the ones we couldn't get like tails chao =_= I still don't know why they made getting special chao so hard back then,but if give us a remaster they can make it less annoying and less impossible to get the special chao,plus I love the story of sonic adventure 2 battle,I'm more prone to dizziness these days so I can't really play sonic games anymore,but if I want a remaster,it has to be sonic adventure 2 battle
I need the Sonic Rush games to get a remaster. I have so many incredibly fun memories with it. Needing to go with my father whenever he worked at night, due to my fears as a child. I played it so much while he was driving his truck. Playing it until I grew so tired that I'd fall asleep while he was working. Sonic Rush is so personal to me and I really would love a remaster of the games on Switch. I also love the Sonic Battle mention. I still have the game cartridge sitting on a shelf
My biggest concern for a Sonic Rush remaster is I don't think they can reuse the music. Right There, Ride On was a mainstay in the Mario & Sonic and Super Smash Bros series in the music collections. Then one day, the tracks were taken off the iTunes store and the next Mario & Sonic and Smash games removed the track. I think it's a vocals thing instead of a composition thing, since an instrumental Vela Nova appeared in Team Sonic Racing.
I'd love a Sonic Unleashed remaster. Maybe patch up some levels, add more music, and transform some of Sonic's friends into monsters. If the Adventure games are remastered, I'd like the characters from multiplayer mode to play a bigger role in the story. Sonic Rush deserves a rewriting. Because I don't like how Sonic's friends were written in that game. And it was all in favor of the new girl. I have nothing against you Blaze, but your debut game put you on a pedestal while multiple characters suffered through flanderization. Sonic Heroes is another game I feel needs better writing. Besides Amy's flanderization, the teams need better reasons to fight each other. Also, we need more unlockable trios. Once again, another game in need of some rewrites would be Sonic Battle. Some characters suffer flanderization. But Chaos Gamma and Chaos Zero deserve stories of their own.
Its insane how Sonic Unleashed _still_ looks better than every Sonic game that came after it... and its been _16 years._ Also, personally, I think UnWiished is _underrated._ Yeah, overrall its a lesser experience than the PC version, but the _daytime levels_ (if a little more polished) would be some of the best in Sonic history imo. The mechanics of the wii version's boost levels are often slept on, but there's a lot more depth and nuance in it than people give it credit for. For example, instead of a solid boost meter, its broken up into segments. Instead of holding down the boost button at all times, its a single button press to trigger a burst of speed. If you touch a wall while boosting you stop boosting, but if you're _drifting_ you can slide along the wall without slowing down. If you time your jumps to the end of your boost, you can do a second boost in the air to get more distance. If you do an air stomp while boosting you keep your forward momentum when going down. There are also wayyy fewer 2d sections which personally is always an upside for the boost games (Just watch some wii version speedruns and you'll know what I mean, its immensely satisfying). I've heard someone describe it as "Sonic controls like a car" and yeah I can't help but agree (and no, that's not a bad thing, its actually a lot of fun). Its just the worst when it comes to the nighttime levels though... That crap takes up the majority of the runtime, even more so than the PC version.
I'm waiting to see an HD Sonic Riders Zero Gravity, looking like the cutscenes because that would be fxcking awesome, mainly for Aquatic Capital but rest of the levels would be fantastic too. They should add a fun Monopole Level traveling from atleast Megalo Station to Botanical Kingdom through the Tube we see on the Cover and Wii Start Up Menu, I want that so bad.
i will say i am not a huge gamer (i just love sonic) but the thing that makes the werehog segments a BLAST for me is the motion controls specifically. i know i'm not in the majority, but i genuinely love that unleashed (and black knight) are built around shaking the wii remote wildly. i find it very immersive!!
i’d personally want sonic 06 to get a remaster or rerelease. i think it deserves a second chance in the spotlight since the game is literally going to not exist in terms of legally being able to buy it this year. i know its like “oh maybe thats a good thing” but personally i think making every game accessible and not running away from your failures is the bravest thing they can do.
if sonic unleashed gets remade we need all 3 versions mixed together into one well there are 5 but they are mostly the same (The 4 versions of the game are so similar that it's practically only 2 and the 5th was forgotten) wii/ps2 (Sonic for some reason has a different model in the PS2 version and the wii is motion control) xbox/ps3 (One of the versions has a unique loading screen when you swap day and night The other one just does it in all game) 2d java phone one (It's a 2D platformer mostly forgotten) Each version of the game would be accessed from a menu linear (Basically being a combination of the best features of both the Wii and PS2 versions It also includes the lack of content and your rings and boost level being tied together may make things easier as you have a pseudo health mechanic) normal (Being a combination of the best of the Xbox and PS3 versions you will have everything from those two versions and all of the extra content made for them The lack of pseudo health will also make it more difficult But things are more open you can also now skip the aerial stages if you keep failing) 2d (its the full 2d version A very small part of the game but hey it exists and should not be forgotten) After beating all 3 games you gain the boss rush mode I who doesn't want this anyway You fight every boss in order of appearance Switching between the 3 games for each one (Mini bosses from within levels will also be added)
Personally, I don’t really care about unleashed since that game feels like a product of the time In my opinion the games that truly deserve the remaster are the storybook games since they are stuck on the Wii and there’s absolutely no way to play them and also because the Wii kind of ruined the reception for them because I feel like if they were playable on PlayStation and Xbox with regular controls that I think a lot more people would be positive toward them Oh, and another thing the Adventure games should get a remake, not a remaster
I think some of the options you mentioned can work but there are a lot of problems with some games. Sonic Heroes is the one that’s needed a re-release the most if it’s a port or a remaster. But the problem with heroes is the game engine renderware and they need to port the game from this engine to a different engine like unity or unreal engine and it’s not a easy job. The only options i can see heroes getting re-release are if Nintendo gonna add gamecube support on the online service on their next console or if sony gonna finally add a brand new ps2 emulator for ps5 and add different ps2 games on ps+ premium. Sonic Rush is can see getting ported but it’s a ds game and it’s not easy to port a ds game on modern consoles. Great example for ds games on modern consoles are metal slug 7 (called xx on consoles) and the mega man zx games the problem with sonic is the dual screen not gonna work on a hd screen. The Adventure games can get ported but people gonna hate them because they gonna port the 10s pc ports of the ps3/360 ports of a 2004 pc port (dx only) of a gamecube ports of a Dreamcast games. Sonic battle not gonna get port or a remake but if sega love money they can do a sonic advance collection that’s includes all the gba sonic games that’s actually good.
idk if this is a hot take but either way im still gonna say it: a Sonic Adventure remake/remaster would probably just suck again. what may be good is simply a modern console port of the game that includes some of the (mostly visual) enhancements mods bring. The gameplay in my opinion has aged like fine wine and stands as one of the best 3d platformers both in level design and the freedom the player has Sonic Adventure 2 though could benefit from a gameplay overhaul, especially coming from the SA2B ports, they made the rail grinding pretty jank compared to the dreamcast version and overall compared to sa1 the control you have just doesnt feel nearly as good. Not to mention the treasure hunter and mech shooter gameplay feel like complete downgrades compared to SA1 Knuckles and Gamma. the level design is especially poor for those modes too. the respective chamber and space maps are unfun for both knuckles and rouge, and a lot of mech maps have enemies pop in in unreactable ways which will lead to either taking damage or straight up falling off the map and dying.
as a fan that played sonic rush on the DS i honestly loved the game it is still my favorite sonic game its almost everything a sonic game is supposed to be i need a remaster for that game and hopefully if it gets a remaster the remaster can be on more devices than just the DS. and i also hope sonic heroes get remastered. (i forgot sonic riders) i swear if we dont get a riders remaster or new riders game imma be pretty sad, in my heart and head riders is the BEST sonic racing game.
A Sonic game that I feel needs a remaster is Sonic Shuffle, a party game for the Sega Dreamcast. Now just hear me out. I know Shuffle was Sega's answer to the Mario Party games (and in fact, was even developed by the same company, Hudson Soft), but Shuffle did a lot to make it different from them; the players drew cards to move across the board and battle monsters, and they could move around the board in any direction as opposed to following a straight path with the occasional fork in the road. They played mini-games by landing on event spaces rather than waiting for each turn to end, though board-specific mini-games happened at random. The goal of the game was to collect the Precioustones, which were guarded by boss monsters, and the game ended when all seven were collected. What I feel a remaster of Shuffle could use is improved AI, one that's less likely to take your best cards even when they have the exact same kind. I also feel that a direct sequel to Shuffle could use the same gameplay, but with new playable characters like Shadow, Rouge, Cream, Blaze, and Silver, and elements more in line with the Sonic franchise, like the Chaos Emeralds taking the place of the Precioustones, and stages including Green Hill, Chemical Plant, and Casino Night. Heck, I'd even settle for Shuffle being on the Dreamcast Mini if Sega ever gets around to making that.
If i was Sega i would make a soft reboot in Frontier style that revisits the story of past game. Cyber space stages should just be stages in a open world which in itself has challenges just like Frontier has. Have the first game be closer to Frontiers but with classic Sonic and its stories from the classic games. And the second game should explore the Adventure/Modern style games 3d and 2d games. Also include side stories based on Sonic Battle with Emerl (which can also become playable mixing abilities of different characters to use in the open world). Every character should be able to be used in a 'stage' not just Sonic. My point is the overal Sonic lore is still not well known amongst casual audience and it might help if it gets told in a new gameplay style.
Me personally, Sonic 4 deserves a remake, and I mean a proper remake. There is a lot of potential in that game. I feel inspired by the reimagined Sonic 4 fangame that I wanna remake it as my own.
Sonic Advance series and Sonic Rush for the 2D games getting remastered. Adventure 1 and 2 for 3D. I guess toss in Heroes and Shadow for the rest of the fans.
GUYS, lots of Sonic games need remasters/remakes, but NONE of the boost games or most of them post 06 need a remaster/remake. Personally the games I'd want remade are: Sonic 06 (who said this had to be realistic? ;) SA1 SA2 Sonic Heroes (maybe) Sonic Riders (the first one I didn't care for the other one [WE DON'T TALK ABOUT THE 3RD ONE IT DIDN'T EXIST])
literally anything released post sa2 They need to start having more of sonic's legacy easily accessible outside of just rereleasing the classics over and over again and sometimes sa1 and 2 after if capcom can get megaman's legacy on modern hardware then sega can do the same for a much more popular series like sonic

You keep using the term remaster but you’re talking about the game mechanics and stuff that would be a remake. To fix those issues and even expand the original games that would be a full on remake to overhaul the games… but yes we need remakes of a lot of this series…

Secret Rings NEEDS a proper remake. It had EVERYTHING to be one of the most perfect Sonic games except form the gameplay. Just take the stages and add gameplay more I'm lune to Frontiers or Boost era

Way more people spread complete BS false information about popular myth that ALREADY happened, whereas a lot of actual leaks are inaccurate in terms of some imperfections in how things fall into place, since it's the future. So you're out here saying stuff like a 60% accurate "leak" such as Sonic Rose is bad because things change in the production, but 100% nonsense like "Wii U failed because of MARKETING" (not bringing an unwanted machine from 12 million sales to maybe 30 mllion sales at best) are okay. GameXplain just recently released an insane video with almost no facts but just this summary of what peple are claiming online, about the past that has NO EXCUSE to still be unverified. You jsut never take even a glance at the facts, or a channel like GTV or Moon Channel that would correct you with very good research.
You do realize remasters is just updating the graphics and adding additional features it doesn’t change anything about the story that thing you’re talking about is called remake
