David Tubb demonstrates how to tune the 5 Star Muzzle Brake in order to tighten your groups when shooting. The 5 Star Muzzle Brake is offered by Superior Shooting Systems at DavidTubb.com www.davidtubb.c...
Hey David, great video demonstration on the 5 Star Brake. I don’t know if you remember me or not, but about 18 years ago I spoke to you several times on the phone about a 22-250 I was shooting. I was already shooting less than 3/8” 10 shot groups at 100 yds with it. I contacted you to see if I could do anything to my rifle to drop my group sizes even more. It was straight from the factory. You recommended a firing pin and spring kit and guaranteed 15 percent smaller groups. It worked, my groups dropped exactly 15 percent. Anyway, what does the brake cost? Thanks for helping me. David E.
As far as load development, do you get a load that shoots ‘good enough’ then tune with the brake? It seems like testing multiple variables at once is a rabbit hole we don’t want to go down.
When groups open up you see two times two shots nearly in the same hole whoch os distant from the other sich groups of two shots in one hole. I see this sometimes in non-handloades ammo too. what os this? is it oal too short? i don't know. i mean actually one whole groups are great. but why away from the other one hole groups. anybody any helpful explanation? sorry for the long text... :-)
Your adjustments are far too extreme. You will be lucky to hit a node this way. You're forced to turn it a full revolution every time to keep the brake clocked correctly. The adjustments should be 1/100th of one full turn. A full turn is just luck to hit a node and if you did it correctly and were able to fine tune it with good hand loaded ammo where the standard deviation is less than 20 fps all those would make one ragged hole at 100 yards.
