1. Take all screens off with a 5 in 1 from all windows first in order and go wash them with window Brush and hosing off the screens and wiping edges and knocking off water. Than put each screens near the window it came from. I charge $2.50 a screen and always wash them as they hold lots of dirt, mold and pollen. When it rains the window will get dirty again if the screen is not washed. Most contemporary residential vinyl windows require you take the screen off and back on from the inside. Other screens that cover an entire windows I take loose the 2 clamps at the sill and take off from outside. Ladder w''s (Windows) are taken off from the inside and stacked in order outside to wash. 2. Wash all windows and frames with a window washing brush with dawn and water. 3. I use a triumph 6 inch scraper to get all bug and paint off while the window is wet 4. Re wet window 5. Wipe top edge squeegee window and one side if doing a side pull. On residential w's I don't usually fan the w's. We do very expensive high end homes and do not want to leave any squeegee marks. 6 Dry cloth wipe edges being careful not over rag the w's as that will leave dry rag marks. 7. Reinstall screen I only use 4 ought steel wool if I have oxidation or on the frame and sill to get stubborn mold stains off. Yours truly, Sterling Window Cleaning in North Georgia. Moral when the sun comes out and shines on your windows than you will know how good a job you really did. Same in life when the Son shines on your life at the end what will He see? Sin or shine?
Romans 3: 22-24 22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Our righteousness is as filthy rags. What do you want Jesus to see when he looks at us, our sinful lives, or the righteousness of Christ imputed to us by faith? Put your trust in Jesus Christ for salvation, not your own works. 1 John 1: 8-10 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
Appreciate you letting me know look like a wire brush kind of scared me there I've been cleaning Windows last 40 years I love it you guys have a blessed day
Another good way to prevent dry streaks or smudges is to apply a decent amount of pressure from the squeegee to the window. I used to get very frustrated with these streaks because I knew I squeegees the window like a boss. Once I started applying heavier pressure to the window with the squeegee, left over streaks and smudges became a thing of the past. Also, I’ve never used the ragging the edges before squeegeeing technique, that will save me a lot of time. Thank you for the nice instructional video.
I must admit us high rise guys are not nearly as passionate about the actual art of window cleaning itself as you route and residential guys are. Respect ✊🏻
These are the five steps of window cleaning, high-rise people typically only use two of them, construction clean up dudes probably use six steps, if you've never cleaned the window before it's very important to have an Overkill video such as this one, and then calibrate based on the type of job you are doing, we do mid rise window cleaning up to 10 stories on 60-foot booms water fed pole and stuff like that, the title of the video was not "the fastest way to clean a window", But I'm sure if you are sending employees out to do high rise window cleaning you would never teach them with a video that was titled "the fastest way to clean a window"...
Spacewolf uh...not if you know what you are doing, lol. I do multimillion dollar homes and the ocasional screen needs to be removed with a tool. No damage, but I almost never break a screen, the heat and sun makes them brittle here in Vegas.
I understand this is an old video, but for new guys like myself looking at this video.. it’s an explanation video of every step you might need from A to Z.. I found it educational, thank you. And if you still want the scratch edited out I’ll help you edit it 😉
Yeah I will get a vision for a video, actually this was my wife's Vision this time and then it is like pulling teeth and the entire Universe goes against me, and I think this video made me about $1,700 this year which is insane!! I believe my wife help me with one or two more videos but my blood pressure is through the roof with the lack of support she has for just doing what I say for one moment!!!, We get along better when we don't work together LOL
@@bobfulton6201 I just never could understand why someone would pay a franchise fee when all you need is a rubber squeegee in a rag why would you I just you know it doesn't make sense.
Very informative, there is not much opportunity where i live and i have an interview with a long time standing window washing company here so it's nice to get all this pre-info.
this video is meant for one purpose only, and that is to not have call backs on houses when my employees go to do them. most RU-vid videos are to inspire window cleaners and to show off techniques learned by experience. my window cleaners are ready to do a perfect job every time no matter the size of the window with only a couple days of training..... but yeah, I get it, if I had to watch this whole video I better be getting paid as well.... LOL
@@ThedisciplemikeYou ok? As I stated above, it's a good video. The fact that you're willing to make up a baseless assumption about a person you have zero knowledge of is really telling of your own insecurities. And yes, I am a professional. I own a professional construction cleaning / window cleaning business. I occasionally watch videos to gain further perspective and for training purposes of my staff. All 15 of my window washers personally have a rectangular bucket and use other more efficient methods for our particular application. Thanks for your two sense, Smooth Brain. :)
bustacut 100% thank you, you're the first person to realize that I think... everybody else thinks I am literally taking 25 minutes to clean one window lol it's not that you always have to use five steps but it's nice to know you have the skills when they are required.
The company I work for is old school. We use T.S.P in our water, real sponges, white scrubbing pads made for window washing, copper infused scrubbing pads for frames and sills. I use a painters multi tool for popping off screens.
Just getting into the finer aspects of this job ,your instructional video is worth watching twice ! Thanks Have the following observations , at the early brush down point could a paintbrush loosen additional dirt in the bottom track , this could be vacuumed out with a battery vac ( which are so good these days )
All you guys saying I used Too Much soap at minute 6:11 I specifically say that I have enough lubrication to use razor blades and steel wool I also mention that I have a bucket in front of me that's mostly water to water it down in other words I have enough water to water it down if there's too much soap!!!
Sean, you could be right about the soap, I think that's the first time I've ever heard that, LOL. thus, is the world of entrepreneurs ... always seeing the little things. also, I keep giving my good Boar's hair brush with the pointy tip to all of my Crews, so I had to use a piece of trash vinyl $3 brush.
Bravo.Excellent tutoring and EXECUTION. If you find customer that pay your super job,you are lucky. Not many customers want a window cleaner like a heart surgery procedure and details. Any cleaning business is a low prestige jobs in many people's mind and unfortunately no respect. After 29 years of supermarket, carpet, window, office, cleaning, stripping and waxing, investing more than 200 k equipment,WB scrubber,Burnisher, single DISK FLOOR machines etc.,dealing with 44 employees and hiring, training, supervising, firing more than 400 people and always chronic complainer customers,I JUST GAVE UP. Good luck guys.
Really depends on customers. Find customers that love to see their homes clean and they'll pay premium prices for your services. Learned that in my 4th year in business. Raised my prices and make high 6 figures income.
when I read this out loud to my girlfriend she cracked up and she said now I understand what it is about you you do sound like a Canadian LOL I don't know what either one of you are talking about I'm completely confused LOL!!!!
Interesting...Learned; THERE IS "MONEY" IN DIRT... Dry Cleaning, Jani King Commercial Office Cleaning w/ Window Cleaning. Thank you for your Help/Techniques. Brian
I didn't realize how many steps it takes to clean a window. I thought all you need was window cleaner and paper towels or news paper lol. I will use this method!
Lost your belt clip as everyone does lol. I recommend using a porcupine strip washer on the exterior. Many times you can get the window cleaned and polished in one step. I like your clamp town holder. clever idea
porcupines lose their cotton way faster, dont obsorb as good, and one less step to use it on in and out instead of two different ones, porcupines also dont scrub 100% like steel or bronze wool so having more water retention is better if wool is needed anyway (EVERYTHING COMES OFF WITH US) its the only way to insure no call backs and high prices.... a lot for only ONE of over one hundred systems.... thats why every tool has multuple purposes and vital significance.... thanks for your input😊
Bronze wool does not rust but only comes in a maximum of 000 you also have to put your credit card into a website, have a computer, have internet access, and then wait for the 000 steel wool to arrive, then you may or may not run out, when you have 160 different acquisitions to measure when running a company with several people you absolutely must minimize errors, expenses, and supplies, 0000 steel wool has the same abrasiveness as bronze wool 000, and I believe it is a little bit more abrasive because bronze tends to bend and steel does not, the true entrepreneurial genius of steel wool versus bronze wool is that if you have eight crews going on out there and you teach them all to type in "home Depot nearest to me" they can all find 0000 steel wool at any home Depot within about 20 or 30 minutes from them! of course if you're doing San Diego and you're in my neighborhood they are about 8 minutes away from any home Depot, So the acquisition of any type of abrasive wool never ever ever ever ever ever comes up Now if you multiply never never never never never times 160 different acquisitions you are then an entrepreneur and the world can function WITHOUT you, But eventually you may want to throw your guys some bronze wool lol.... Thanks for commenting on one of the 160.....
Good instruction brother. I understand you don't do this to every window every time. if your employees do, you'll never get a call back that's for sure. anyway, if this is your way and it works.................. good for you.
I have been cleaning windows over 20 years and you make it so much harder than it has to be. Rags and steel wool are completely unnecessary. Carry a scraper for paint or sap and other stuck on debris. Maybe one wet rag for wiping sills, dip, rinse and reuse. I understand not wanting call backs from sloppy work from employees but you just need to personally train them and work with them until they get it right.
Glenda Romero it has a certain scale of abrasiveness, when they thread it down so thin that it bends like cloth, it doesn't have enough physical properties to compete with the strength of the glass surface, but as you move it across the smooth surface it tends to catch on to pimpled debris such as paint small pieces of Stucco and stubborn grime... the properties in the steel (as they collect together and bow around the debris) gather enough strength to scrape it off of the glass, once you understand this ebb and flow of Steel and smooth surface, you can gauge your accuracy in polishing versus scratching by using either four zero steel wool or three zero steel wool..... good luck out there
I use a water hose with low jet setting to get those tracks completely clean. Your 'extracter' tool can scratch the frames or puncture the screen, try a frosting spreader, it's smooth edges and rounded top do an excellent job of removing most screens from the outside. Are you doing an initial cleaning?Hope you charged accordingly. And polished? Funny. We use natural sponges instead of rags. Anyway I've been doing windows for over 30 years.I am a pro!!
Thanks for the frosting spreader tip. I just want to clean my screens and have a hard time getting them to pop out. Hence I don't clean them. Sigh. I should just hire someone.
A safety is us only S/S blades on windows. I install graphics on the glass and have to some time run a blade on the glass. S/S blade is less likely to damage the glass as carbon steel blades.
To each his own I suppose- but the steel wool method and how much soap he uses is pretty nuts! However I really do like the clip on the bucket on a belt for a towel.. I’ll be using that tomorrow!
