some interesting facts about volcanoes: 1. Volcanoes are openings in the Earth's surface that allow molten rock, ash, and gas to escape from the Earth's interior. 2. There are around 1,500 active volcanoes in the world, with many more that are dormant or extinct. 3. The largest volcano in the solar system is Olympus Mons on Mars. It is three times taller than Mount Everest and as wide as the entire state of Arizona. 4. Volcanoes can erupt in different ways: Some volcanoes erupt explosively, while others have more fluid lava flows. Some can also produce pyroclastic flows, lahars, and other dangerous phenomena. 5. The Ring of Fire is a region around the Pacific Ocean where many of the world's active volcanoes are located. 6. The word "volcano" comes from the Roman god of fire, Vulcan. 7. Volcanoes can have different shapes: Some have a steep cone shape, while others have a broad shield shape. 8. Volcanoes can impact the climate: Large volcanic eruptions can release huge amounts of ash and gas into the atmosphere, which can block sunlight and cause global cooling. 9. The world's largest eruption in recorded history occurred in 1815 at Mount Tambora in Indonesia, which produced massive amounts of ash and had a global impact on climate. 10. Some volcanoes have become popular tourist attractions: Many people visit volcanoes to see their unique landscapes and to witness their eruptions from a safe distance. However, it's important to remember that volcanoes can be dangerous and unpredictable.

@04williamsl
@04williamsl Год назад
I was in Iceland in September 2021 to see the volcano there. Unfortunately it had stopped erupting a while prior, but we still wanted to go and see it. Two days before we actually climbed it we were meant to do it, but due to storms we weren't able to. That same day lava started erupting out of the earth much further back from the volcano, which we were going to hike to. We visited it eventually, but I was with my mum and she'd hurt her knee. I left her at this barrier they'd built to redirect the flow of the lava away from the town, as she couldn't go any further. I walked to the cone of the volcano, took a few pictures but decided against hiking all the way to where lava was shooting out of the earth as I didn't want to leave my mum too long on her own. So, I turned back, and bam, a huge lava flow had started just south of the volcano. I didn't hear a thing, it was so quiet. But it moved so fast. I took my photos and started back to my mum, who texted e saying they were being evacuated as the lava was coming to them. I said sure, meet you back at the car! But no, they closed off that path as there was a chance the lava would breach that barrier, so she was coming up. My mum was 62 with a bad leg, had to climb up the hill on her hands and knees (loose rocks and the incline). Managed to meet each other at the top then make our way to the car. My mum was terrified... I was loving life. Finished the day at the Sky Lagoon in Reykjavik, where we watched tons of helicopters and planes departing for the volcano. Absolutely crazy experience. Visit Iceland if you ever get the opportunity, you won't be disappointed!

In the original Fantasia, the volcano scene is in the Rite of Spring, depicting the formation and development of the the Earth and it's denizens. The eruption scenes are remarkably accurate in their images and motion. Blobs of lava flying through the air, twisting and changing shape, flows overflowing vents and tumbling over it's edges, carrying chunks of hardened lava down it's stream.

My professor said: "Now, ars you asking if there is anywhere on earth that is safe from the effects of seismic activity?" Classmate said yes, and professor said: "No. Nowhere on earth is safe. figured mnt saint helens would be on this list being a massive explosion caught on camera and being the most deadly eruption of our time. also covering 185 miles of ground with lava destroying 200+ homes and 47 bridges and a massive area covered in ash

In the US it is, but with only 58 deaths, it's nothing.

I watched the Icelandic volcano on video much of the spring through till the middle of summer. It was funny to watch some kids waving in the camera

That volcano that erupted here in Iceland was pretty crazy, even as an Icelander I've never seen it up close before but last year I went to see it with my mom and daughter. It was quite the walk to get there but definitely worth it. Now we've had another eruption in a different place in Iceland just a couple of weeks ago, haven't gone to see that as it is just way too far of a walk but I can tell you that it is pretty strange that we've had now 2 eruptions in less then 2 years! And people say climate change isn't real!!

some people say a lot of things.. hoppe these vulcanos not hampers those re-foresting efforts i heard about over there to much ? but on the other hand ..suppose no one can 'blame gaia' for venting some pressure as humes fks up so much all across her hide so to speak. it is glorious displays of the raw energies beneath the soothing blanket of green in mother nature though... even just watching videos of it is sobering.... such raw remorseless primal energy..

You make me want to go live in Iceland for a few years, just to have the opportunity to watch those eruptions

🤨 Volcanoes aren't affected by the climate. Weather can be affected by volcanoes, but the climate hasn't been affected by volcanic activity since about a billion years ago.

@@anonygentYep, climate change doesn’t increase frequency of volcanic eruption. It does however, how an effect on an eruption’s impact on the climate (primarily cooling). Thanks for pointing that out!
