Come to Italy, then. You can climb up Stromboli, a volcano that erupts regularly many times per day. The best is to climb in tue afternoon to be on the top when it’s dark, so you can see the lava spills better. It’s quite safe, because generally it’s a predictable volcano… but you can’t be 100% sure… sometimes it erupts violently or some big rock crumble into the sea - but this is the adventure we all are looking for, right? 😁 Also Etna volcano in Sicily can offer some beautiful shows, but we never know when it wakes up.

I'm from St Vincent, but I live in Barbados. The ash plume deposited more ash on Barbados than it did on many areas of St Vincent. It was almost apocalyptic here in Barbados. Black as night, ash everywhere. You couldn't stop it from getting into your house, your car. Even now I find bits of it. In 1979 there was also another eruption, and we were there on vacation. in most case the explosion size is usual since santa maria is strombolian type, vanuatu is a lava lake, you can even predict etna fountain size. so yes they are in a dead zone, but the timed release of heat/material/gas release make them predictable and you can establish you own safe zone if you know your volcanoes, close enough for be safe 99% of time, with lifetime sound, smell, sight show, but with 1% risk to get killed or hurt with anormal release.... but some guys in the video like krakatoa or sivelush clearly dont know those volcanoes, for the crazy guy trying it, use drones at least you loose only money :p and check data of volcanoe eq/deformation/gas etc..its public data.

Indonesia actually has a quite advanced tsunami early warning system that includes ocean sensor buoys connected to sirens and text warnings. The only reason the system failed in 2018 is because some of the sensors were stolen and the warning issued was ignored by locals who had become complacent by many warnings that turned out to only be “mini” tsunamis and the sirens had no back up batteries when they lost power by the quake, they weren’t able to sound a warning. There are many ongoing efforts to fix these problems so there is no repeat warning failure.

I want to point out that the sacrifices people make to Mt Bromo - the animals and food stuffs mentioned - it's much less grim than it sounds. The people who are throwing items IN, stand on the rim, & gently toss their items. But there's a crowd of other people, about 10 feet down, who catch or pick up everything, and carry it right back up to the rim and then home with them. So, food that is thrown in, doesn't get wasted. Animals thrown in - end up back in a village or town. The only sacrifice element is that the throwers are sacrificing their ability to benefit from their item. But it is neither polluting, wasteful nor cruel. Though I can't attest to the long term health and living status of the animals.
