I have a silly trick for you. Works only in low elo I'm afraid, so I don't use it anymore, but it might help someone. So the trick: If you build single segment of a stone wall behind a house in slavic architecture style, it looks like a tower. You can even build a regular tower close by to get the "range ring" in place. I know, its dumb, but it actually does work and opponents did regularly attack the wall section instead of any nearby tower. It takes a mangonel good while longer to bring the section down when compared to tower too.
Tactic 7: leave a hole in your wall to make opponent think you re not paying attention and he can raid you with kts, but then once he comes in, trap him inside with pikes and monks
First comment! I watched your walling video's and i have jumped 200 elo, defended archer rush and never lost a single villager. love your video's, they really help and keep making good content
What about a video of Monk/Siege push, what to do against, how to do it better, timings, resources, best civs, what to achieve, when to retire/to keep going, etc
I'm not an expert on this strategy and I'm not sure I want to grind out a hundred games of it to completely figure it out. Games are usually heavily influenced by feudal play these days so it's hard to even get to that situation without being in a different situation each game. Analyzing specific matchups/games could be good, but the topic is quite broad.
@@SurvivalistAoE ok, thanks. What about what to do if you lose a villager in the early stages of the game? Also, what are the main objectives in a Scout rush, militia rush or straight archers? Some ppl say that it's not even to kill a vill but buys time for walling
@@87JJosh When you lose a villager early, you need to make up for it by doing damage to your opponent. I can't go through each of those strategies here as it would take too long, but I do have some videos where I talk about those things. ru-vid.com/group/PLQ8BgSJQQkY1pO79wogCL0EoDxXxMGuRC
rude tactics: - lying. I meant to pick Magyards. has advanced to the imperial age. how do you turn this on - deceive. works more effective if you know each other. go for one scout inside of stable to show the flag but secretly prepare infantry. Or any counter unit for what you are pretending for that matter. - lame and contest anything - be annoying by constantly reattacking somewhere with scout. there is a chance your opponent will overreact to starting scout, ignore future attack sounds even if you raid, or simply is thrown of because of divided attention I hate those playstyles but they work against me 11
I am leaving a comment because you deserve more support 👍, but comments and likes is as far as i can go sadly 😢 as i am studying in russia and the war put me in a miserable situation 😅 That said i do have a weird question mixed with a request if you read the explaination. generally i am in need of different kind of content, I am not getting much help out of such content as i am mostly aware of all of that. My strategy have always been very good as i've been very highly competitive and doing really well in many strategy games in the old days. "lord of the rings 1 and 2, generals zero hour specifically, red alert... etc In age of empires, however, we have a completely different set of skills which is the speed at which one controls everyhing. Generally speaking it was never as highly contested or as big of a deal for the other games that i played as it is in AoE2. Other games strategy comes on top almost everytimen aoe, micro is aomost as important and especially the speed of how one moves around the screen. Watching you, hera and other people is intimidating in fact as it makes me wonder if the muscle soeed is achievable by me as i've always relied on my ideas rather than my "speed". I tried asking hera to add a video while he is spectating his own game and then goes slowly through the game explaining his controls to understand the skills one need to develop, but sadly no luck yet. So i wonder if you can do that with one of tour games? I mean don't get me wrong i understand practice is part of it but it feels like there is more to it than practice. Lets call it tips and tricks to control your game play effectively and fast? I'd love such a detailed game review explaining that 90 screen j9bs in 90 locations doing 180 things in 10 minutes 😂
Sounds like you just need to do more targeted practice. There are people well into their 90s doing like 500 keys per minute with classical piano so it's really more about muscle memory and less about physical ability. Practicing things slowly and efficiently is the key here. I did do a video on this topic at some point.
@@SurvivalistAoE thanks will check it out. Generally i just need a way to make sure i am using all the "correct keys" and building the "right habbits" That's why when i see you jump 90 screens in 10 seconds i need to know first, what are you "pushing" in your keyboard so i know if i am in the right track.
Here’s a noob tip: Don’t waste time attacking enemy buildings early on in the game. Buildings take took too long to destroy and that usually won’t accomplish anything other than alerting your opponent of your location.
The castle drop when your army is not there to defend CAN work when your vills are able to build castles quickly or can wall themselves in to prevent knights from attacking, such as Spanish and Sicilian vills. Still, going for a castle drop when you know your enemy has army is the equivalent of adding tcs when there are 2 siege workshops and other military buildings outside your base
The forward castle might be able to deny resources, but if you don't have enough military to support the castle going up, a lot of time you won't be able to push with your castle anyways. For maps like arena/nomad, going for a forward castle with little military can sometimes be good though since getting trebs under a castle can sometimes take out someone's entire base.
