1: I had a similar issue with the start stop. turns out I just wasn't pressing the bakes hard enough. Start stop activates depending on how much brake pressure you apply. 2: the vents they cover at the front of the car can't open anymore, if they did the car would actually preform worse. its a weird balance they have to strike between design and functionality. Every other complaint I 100% agree with. 👍
I use autostop for the most part in traffic and don't hold the brakes with my foot and this is when it happens to me. Front vents I know that they had to do something like that and I rather this design than smaller intakes
Not true. That was possible on older models (pre facelift) but they seem to have removed the ability to get air out of those vents. Just got an S5 and was very annoyed when I was unable to open them 🤣
No you can't. Maybe you could do it in the previous models but in this one there's no way of using them. Go to your local dealer and trynit for yourself ;)
The current RS5 has the same HP but way more torque ...it’s a much quicker car and I don’t think it fare to compare it against the competition versions from BMW and Mercedes. The RS5 is a way more comfortable car to daily drive and you can drive all year round !
Jee’s, the amount of car reviewers moaning about fake vents, who cares? Anyone who sees a beautiful RS5 pass them would be wanting it, not worrying about a fake diffuser.
Yep. In 9 months, I’ve had over a dozen people comment on the car to me. And I’ve caught several people walk around the car and check it out. (Something I still do. 😂). 🤘🤘🤘
I also have a 2021 RS5 Sportback and my brakes make a lot of loud noises at very low speeds too, so much so that my son busts out in laughter every time he's riding with me and it happens.
Mine are getting replaced by Audi. Will see what happens with replacement. It's the near side passenger ones that are getting fully replaced. Only done 900 miles. 🤔😳
As for the power complaint just wait for your tunes and aftermarket turbos. Tunes alone will get you almost 100hp more with loads of torque, the pop up infotainment is going away for safety reasons. If you have a backup camera then you have to have it active before a certain time period or before you start going into reverse. The pop up screen was eliminated due to this reason.
where did you hear this? my S6 screen pops up when you put in R and shows backup camera just as fast as when i start the car and put in R. It goes back down once put back into Drive if I have it off.
@@gmoney2437 heard it from Audi of America rep during some training on the new models prior to release. The new infotainment systems were getting a little too quick for pop up screens. Plus the fixed screens are less hassle down the road. Either way I prefer the fixed screens.
Yeah but who wants to spend 130k and drive a silent car, I do not want that. Nope. I need the broom broom. If I wanted a Tesla plaid for speed, other than electric charging and autonomous driving, I’d go on a roller coaster ride.
I don’t disagree with you. Most Tesla stay on the slow traffic lane with no ac and windows down when having to travel a bit further then usually. Still the plaid is a monster wich can’t make a 250 miles journey at 80 miles per hour in summer time. These range data are calculated at 55 mph with no a/c or heating.
I drive the 2019 RS5 and I have ceramic brakes on it and close to 6,000 miles on it, I can only imagine the angst of squeaky brakes for such a powerful car. It is very fun to drive and look at. Good review for the 2021, I think I will wait to see what they will come out next. I do like that there is a touch screen with the newer ones and they may integrate the indash screens in the RS5 like the 2022 A6.
The big one is the display which should definitely hide when the car is turned off. But you missed the number one overarching problem in my opinion, and that is the cupholders. They are way too close to the front of the controls, and if you put any large cups in there they get in the way of the buttons and even bang into the buttons. 🤯🤯🤯
Really? I never had that problem with the cupholders! I usually carry small bottles of water with me but that s great shout! Will be careful of that in the future
@@Snowcatsrtwell I’m with spin here: my S5 had the dial, but now I’ve just got an open cubby in the RS5. Haven’t figured out how to best use it… but the dial delete bought back like 3” of open space for my 32 ouncers of cold brew. Was a design flaw a few yrs ago, no need to overlook it now that the space is free lol. 🇺🇸 big cups for hours-long drives, unite 👊! like no island nation can. 😆
RS5 is amazing but The biggest problem with the RS5 is the S5, Audi made the S5 too good and now with the face lift it looks more like the RS5 as well. Of course the RS5 is better but for half the payments you can have an S5 that's 80% as good as the RS5. Audi should take a page from BMW how they differentiate their true M products from their "M powered products."
I'm total opposite then on agreeing this. I've had all the S models and RS is actually night and day in driving comparison. Yes I love the S and yes it's cheaper in all respects but the driving just isn't anything like in the RS.
Habibi. You can turn off the start stop on the engine. Press the A with the circle next to your drive select. No more auto shut off which I find annoying as hell on my 21 S5. Only thing though you have to remember to always press it when you turn on the ignition. If you didn’t know this already… now you do, hope you enjoy. Beautiful car brother. I agree with everything you said. The car has more interior rattling than I would like too
Yes I know haha. It also turns off automatically in dynamic mode but still. I like helping the planet and turning the combustion engine off at traffic lights but having the engine switch on and off 3 times is ridiculous 🤣
@@Snowcatsrt Also I am not shitting on the car.Audis and germans build great cars.I just do not get why they keep scoring so low on reliability and so high on frequency of repairs. When I go on business trips--I specificaly rent audis--mainly the A6.
Hey dude! Looking at buying one of these and loving your reviews - super helpful....and strangely balanced! Quick question for you: in the console where the dial and touchpad used to be, it looks like you have some sort of ashtray situation. Is that what it is? Or just a nicely covered storage space??
@@TerryStewart32 probably in 2025ish? Usually Germans like to completely redesign every 8 years with a refresh half way through that but nobody knows 100%
Just my opinion, but I think revving your engine while sitting still, is the most douchey thing someone can do. I’ve never starved for attention so bad that i needed to rev my engine at a red light 🤷♂️. With that said, I LOVE soft limiters lol.
I don't rev my engine either at red lights. Using launch control as well is weird as you need to build boost, but I would like to hear what my car sounds like as people compliment the sound and I have no idea personally what it's like
@@Snowcatsrt now launch control is a place where I have to give someone a pass. That just kind of has to occur to execute launch control. My comment is just a general one and not aiming at you. I’m talking mostly about the aventador guy that revs at redline for 5 straight minutes. Btw, I absolutely love your RS5 SB 👍
your hilarious, i love it 🤣 I actually went to look at one of these in 2020 and I ended up not buying it because the dealer would not budge one dollar on it, I ended up getting a Lexus LC and there’s only two things I hate about that car simply lovely
I have had my 11 evo since 2015 and idk man it’s like I’m maturing and want a real performance car like a m3 or a rs5, only thing that scares me is the reliability. On my evo i only had to replace the battery, other than that it ran like a champ! But the Germans do know how to make a luxurious sports car
This is one of the reasons why I bought this car. I wanted a little bit of that German luxury with the performance they bring. Yeah it's not easy to tune but damn is it a good daily!
@@Snowcatsrt i assume maintenance for these cars are the same across the board, i.e uk, us, Asia, Middle East etc. will you be doing an update on like how much you spent for maintenance? Thanks
No man in the Middle East service is very expensive compared to Europe. I have a service package alongside the warranty but I will be updating on anything that happens to the car along the way.
My hates. 1. The soft limiter, 2. The fact that you cannot lock it while it's running, 3. The removal of the rotary controller, 4. The piano black scratch and finger print magnet trim.
Another one, my front brakes squeek terribly, but I changed brake pads for new ones, original Audi, couple weeks ago and they are silent. Try to complain it (I couldn't, my car is out of warranty alredy).
For a start stop solution ... I can send u a link to aliexpress with a quick fix to disable it. Btw, stock navigation gets updates every week where I live. It's quite up to date.
Idk why people hate on it so much. It’s honestly a smart place to have it. High up on the dash so your peripheral stays as aware of the road as possible while using it.
I love this car and I am going to buy it. I appreciate your honesty but you forgot the back windows that don't roll all the way down that is stupid from Audi
I don't care about the fake, I just feel its over designed especially the front part , they should have maintained a big grill not that sharp pointed front .
I have the same car and pkg...love it as well! My only issue is that my MMI turns on and off whenever I use android auto. Not sure if it's the off brand usb-c cable, but that's the only time it happens. Annoying.
I bought the S5 Sportback instead and love it. I didn't get the MMI for the reason you stated, no need to spend the extra money. The infotainment set up could be much better integrated, why they didn't do that is beyond me, and the fake vents need to go. The exhaust on mine sounds great though.
Agree. Would be nice if it was better integrated into the center stack. But the whole screen going up and down thing is just silly. You use the screen almost all the time even for simple functions so having it retract into the dash does not make a lot of sense.
@Just Ty At 25k miles, 0 issues. The interior has held up great, mechanicals and electrical systems working as they should with no hiccups. Two bits of advice: 1) get the front of the car paint protected (PPF) abs 2) if you get the Black Optic Pkg 20" wheels change the tires from Continentals to Michelin Pilots. The ride is 10 times better, and handling is better. And with the added sidewall, much more protection of the rims. Also, get the tire and wheel along with maintenance warranties.
Yeah man I am still having this issue till today. I am changing brake pads soon hopefully next week if not then next year as I am travelling for the Christmas break. Will do some updates next year too!
Nice. I am thinking about going EBC. Had them on some previous cars and enjoyed them loads. Especially because now I have aluminium wheels and brake dust is an issue 😅
@@advocado7373 which ones did they try? I had some that squeaked like a motherfucker but I switched compounds and never had an issue with noise and dust. It depends per car per compound I guess.
You shoulda gotten a 2019 B9 RS5-SB with a smaller screen, CF trim instead of piano black, and silent CCB, like mine. ;) Oh, and you can take care of that fake AC vent with a set of Bosch Passenger Sport Gauges.
How did you fix the squeaky part by the window on the door that you rest your elbow on when you drive? I have exact same car as you and it's bugging me.
Made a video on this earlier but the gist of it was to go to the dealership. They have insulation tape supplied by Audi and use it to firm up spots that may creak. It took them under a couple of hours to get it done. It was really annoying!
Lmao you wouldn’t even be able to hear it without the soft limiter either. Not even with a friggen aftermarket exhaust. They remapped the cylinder firing in the tune. So even with performance exhaust and valves stuck open 100% of the time, it still sounds like a euro bitch mobile instead of an RS car. Imagine getting a brand new 2019 RS3 delivered, seeing the emissions on your window sticker before buying and thinking US cars were safe, then hearing your new toy sound like it’s powered by a hamster running on a wheel. Yeah, fuck you Audi.
The RS5 Sportback is the best GT car for under $100K USD. I agree with the power comment but Audi's make use of the power better than M/AMG counterparts.
You are right that they are efficient to som extent but with the stricter regulations coming through and more safety requirements translating to more weight.. they could have foreseen this problem. Unless they knew about it but were upselling the more expensive models
@@jamess303 your nickname is Santa Claus 😅 nah this is a video just focused on the things I don't like. Thankfully the things I like heavily outweigh the things I do not :)
@@Snowcatsrt I'm slow.....lmao sweet! I was looking at the same car myself but then I saw the things you disliked before actually driving the car and now I feel torn haha.
That middle vent I think is the most infuriating thing they did. It looks good and then you find out its just for show...like, shit, this is a 90k car. Run the ducts and have it blow air ffs.
