My brother, you made me cry in joyful laughter! I am a Catholic priest. You are a beautiful brother in Christ! Jesus at each mass is REALLY there- body, blood , soul and divinity. I prayed that one day you will discover what that little read light / candle means next to the tabernacle. It means He, your Lord and Savior and mine is TRUELY there. There for you, my beautiful brother in Christ! God bless you abundantly! Fr. Philip
Good morning from California Father. Today is Saturday. My first comment in this video was that I bet a priest would love this video. Thank you for chiming in. God bless you and your work. 🙏🏻
Catholic divergence from the Bible on this most crucial of issues, salvation, means that yes, Catholicism is a false religion. If a person believes what the Catholic Church officially teaches, he/she will not be saved. Any claim that works or rituals must be added to faith in order for salvation to be achieved is a claim that Jesus’ death was not sufficient to fully purchase our salvation.
@AM-dr9qd Certainly. Religion is a man made construct. These rituals in this institution are used to control the masses, usually by use of fear. Some bizarre fear of death that one may not make it to LA-LA LAND in the Clouds to float forever.
I’m a Catholic convert! If you had asked me 14 years ago if I would ever considered being Catholic, I would have fallen off my chair laughing. Now, here I am, wearing a mantilla, driving around a giant van full of kids, praying for the souls in purgatory and clinging to my beads!
Being a Catholic is a beautiful thing. I am a Black Catholic convert. I’ve never been so blessed and close to Jesus. Thank you for your appreciation. I hope you find more beautiful things at Mass.
I absolutely agree with this. When will those who profess to be true Christians ever realise that they will never evangelize a single person when they respond with bashing. Jesus and his disciples never did it. Why should we? 😊
Black Catholic here and I'm rollin!!!!!! Brother go to an on fire Black Catholic church and you'll get all of that-full Jesus in the sacrament and the Word-as well as Spirit filled singing, praise and an inviting community. The Catholic Church is the original and is deep in our African heritage from the earliest Church Fathers and Mothers of Ancient North and East and Central Africa.
I have attended Catholic mass in a language that I don’t speak and I am still able to follow and respond, in my language of course. It is the same mass everywhere.
@@jamie7880 English speaking TLM here. I actually went to a NO Mass in Vietnamese and I knew where we were the whole time. It was the Easter Vigil Mass so I knew where we were for a very long time.
Me too! I attended in Japan and know not a word of Japanese but it was beautiful and I knew what was going on and we praised the Lord and shared the sacrifice of the Mass together.
American Catholic here, who attended Mass in Taiwan...most of it was in English! 👍. I have also attended a Mass spoken in Vietnamese, as well as the Traditional Latin Mass, both near my home. So beautiful. ❤🙏
I’m an ex non-denominational Protestant, now soon to be confirmed Catholic. It is really refreshing to see a fellow Christian brother speak so respectfully and in awe about the Mass and the faith. All my family are pretty much in disagreement with my conversion and have nothing but assumptions in their head, so it’s hard to find common ground. I pray they open up their mind as you have, God bless you brother ❤️🙏🏽 I don’t know if anyone else sees it but I think there’s an awakening amongst the young adults of this generation and there are a lot of young men coming to the Catholic faith because they seek the truth. May God guide them back and may these men guide their wives, girlfriends, & families too 🙏🏽 Amen
I was raised Baptist. Came into the Catholic Church at Easter vigil 1993. It was what I had always searched for as a Baptist. Now everything makes sense.
A- men! I grew up in the Baptist Church. In college I was a big member of Inter Varsity Christian Fellowship and went full Evangelical. We even believed Catholics weren't Christians. 2009 met my husband, 2010 was married in the Catholic Church and 2011 was gloriously confirmed into the one true Church - the first and only Church. This was my choice and my journey and I am in love with the Mass and worshipping Christ in the Holy Eucharist.
Cradle Catholic here. LOVED this! Not only will you be active during the Mass, but we actually have FOUR separate readings from the Bible every Sunday, three on weekdays. So for those who say we don’t know the Bible, come and experience it!
I'm Catholic and I was out of town and went to Mass at the Catholic Church nearest to where I was staying. When I went into the church I realized everyone there was Asian, don't know if they were Korean or Vietnamese. Anyway, the church was packed front to back and there was complete silence in the ten or so minutes before Mass began. An usher had the people in a pew make room for me and I noticed some people were praying the rosary and I could hear the quiet rhythm of the Hail Mary and some of the beads tapping against the pews. As Mass began a chime rang and we all stood and the choir was singing as the altar servers, lector and the priest processed up to the altar. The priest referenced the altar and gave the people a blessing 🙏 and we all said the Penitential Act. Of course, it wasn't in English, but I knew exactly what the priest was saying and doing, except at the readings and the homily! Everything went smoothly with the standing, reponding, sitting and kneeling. It was like soldiers marching in cadance! Perfect rhythm! 😊 That Mass was one of the most beautiful and reverent Masses I have ever attended, I felt the holiness. At the end of Mass the people remained reverently silent as they exited the church and some stayed and prayed a little longer. Outside the church the people greeted each other and me! They made me feel welcome, as we should all feel at any Catholic church. Peace and blessings, my brothers and sisters in Christ 💒
The beauty of the catholic church is that a catholic can go to a catholic mass anywhere in the world for the first time and they will be perfectly "in sync" and at home, hence the meaning "universal" church. Amen.🥰
This had me and my wife rolling as we are Catholics. The standing, sitting, kneeling is what i lovingly refer to as Catholic Calisthenics. It is beautiful when you find a Church that is that in sync. Ive certainly been to some that werent. But the fact we can walk into any Mass around the world and follow along is one of the beauties of the Church. The most important thing is thaf Christ is truly there with us in the Eucharist.
I'm Roman Catholic but I've been to a Maronite mass and it's so beautiful. I love the songs sung in Arabic and the use of Aramaic (Syriac) and I can now say some prayers in Aramaic.
Josh Pray, you are a delightful host. I am a Catholic and I attend Mass every day. God is worth praising every day, and an hour of my time is nothing compared to His love for me, and for you. Praise be Jesus Christ now and forever.
After reading the Bible through 65 times, Jesus called me to the true Catholic Church. Baptist preacher’s daughter. I LOVE DAILY MASS!!! I receive the Body and Blood of Jesus every single day. Who wouldn’t be thrilled with that??????? “ If you eat my Body and drink my Blood, you have LIFE in you.”
God supplied Manna , a physical food . Jesus tells you clearly He supplies your spiritual food .John 6:63 The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you-they are full of the Spirit and life. . Baptist preacher’s daughter. I LOVE DAILY MASS!!! I receive the Body and Blood of Jesus every single day. Who wouldn’t be thrilled with that??????? If the Lords body and blood are consumed by you , it will do nothing as your body will never inherit the kingdom of God. Do this in remembrance of Me , means we remember what He has done , we do not make Him do it again.
@@brucewmclaughlin9072 weird you are the first non-catholic person making such a statememt because every protestant and non-denomination church we have attended in decades; we hear teh same prayer "Wash with the blood of Christ." "I ask for your Blood Jesus to cover my sins and cleans from my iniquities.: and on and on. So, which one is True the numerouns protestant churches we have attended OR your statement that the Blood of Chris does NOTHING for me today?
@@margot9373 which one is True the numerouns protestant churches we have attended OR your statement that the Blood of Chris does NOTHING for me today? The blood of Christ has washed your sins away . 1 Cor 6:11 You are completely clean before God with the assurance of salvation as a believer. We remember what Jesus has Done for for us on the cross , we do not worship a wafer as if somehow the priest has turned it into Christ for us. Christ died once and for all . " your statement that the Blood of Chris does NOTHING for me today? " Reread my statement . God supplied Manna , a physical food . Jesus tells you clearly He supplies your spiritual food .John 6:63 The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. So we look to Jesus to supply us with spiritual food . Your body does not inherit the kingdom of God , So the belief that by eating Jesus you will be one step closer to God is false. Jesus was a Jew , the apostles were Jews , Jesus was addressing Jews , under the Torah drinking blood was totally unlawful .(Leviticus 17:13-14) Jesus Knew that , the Apostles knew that , and the Jews Jesus was teaching knew that. So do you think Jesus was telling you the believer to eat His flesh and drink His blood ? Look at Acts 15 :29 do you see drinking blood for any reason? Do this in remembrance of Me . What was Jesus celebrating?
I’m a 71 year old male cradle Catholic who left the church in his early 20s, tried to be an atheist but that took more faith than I could muster. Returned as a believer and explored various Protestant churches, all of which offered something I genuinely liked. But, ultimately, I was drawn back to the Eucharist. Now I understand what I grew up hearing but not understanding until now that, “All roads lead to Rome.”
@@progmanmikeCareful, your Protestantism is showing! I’m guessing you go to one of those churches where the pastor has spent a lot of time telling you Catholics are blasphemers and deny the Gospel instead of actually helping YOU get closer to Christ. The father of lies loves it when Christians are distracted and think they’re justified in spreading lies about the Catholic Church. It’s a great way to waste time preaching against something instead of using the time to glorify God and doing His will.
And here's another surprise. For all those who say Catholics don't read the Bible ? The ENTIRE Bible is read in church within a 2 year span. Thats just one of the things I learned as a convert from the Baptist Church to being a full-blown, happier than ever CATHOLIC !..❤ 😊 ❤
I did not know this. I cannot recall hearing Chronicles and other “dry” historical parts of the Old Testament during mass. Song of Solomon? Hmmm. Lovely if true. (Btw, podcast “Bible in a Year” is an amazing way to cover the entire Bible. I’m on my third year of being washed in The Word). Thanks for your post.
Not quite but close. Only about 30 some percent of the OT and close to 95% of the gospels and 70% of the NT in the 3 year liturgical cycle. IF you attend daily mass!
I am a Catholic and this was hilarious. I think our service is the shortest of all other Christian services. My brother in Christ, keep up making people laugh.
I agree. My husband's nondenominational Christian church service lasted 2-3 hours with 2-3 collections. We would look at each other and one of us would say, "Pastor Sam is gearing up for another collection".😂
Devout Catholic here, and I approve this message! Thank you for recognizing the beauty of a Catholic mass. Your humor and wit made it all the more refreshing. Deo gratias! ❤🙏
Cradle Catholic here. We call it Catholic Calisthenics. I loved this so much!!! Glad you enjoyed your time with us. Please come back and soak in all the richness and beauty of the one true church. ❤❤ Wait until you find out that every prayer, every gesture the priest makes, all of it has a meaning and reason behind it. God bless you! Thank you for being so respectful and so funny at the same time. One of the best things about Catholics is that we LOVE a good natured poke at our own expense!
Love this! I am a former Baptist/Methodist/Non-Denominational now recently confirmed Catholic. So encouraging and refreshing to hear a Protestant not bashing on the Catholic Church and having a genuine experience. God bless you brother!
Mass is only 1 hour long.. sometimes it goes slightly over. Other denominations I have attended before converting to Catholicism, Sunday service would run 3 to 4 hours! From 9am-12pm! I LOVE the Mass.. it’s one giant prayer. No one is competing for hallelujahs or amens.. the beautiful silence and discernment of your own heart and celebration/appreciation of Jesus’s sacrifice, with the holy Trinity. It’s absolutely wonderful and I am proud to be Catholic, imperfect and asking for forgiveness just like all the other parishioners. Jesus is king! Blessed God forever.
When I got married my Lutheran brother-in-law also commented afterward about the standing, sitting, kneeling that took place at our Catholic wedding Mass. He said, " I felt like I had one foot in heaven".
I would like to preemptively welcome this young man Home. I can't wait until he finds out Who is present under the appearance of bread and wine. 😉✝️🙏🙏🙏
Josh, I'm praying for you. Convert from Lutheranism in 2013. I've never been happier, since I also began attending daily Masses. They tend to be much shorter than a High Mass on Sundays (which for Catholics is a holy day of obligation, and a sin to miss) Love you, Brother in Christ.
@@leslie5161 🤦♂️it’s not “all here”. The saddest part is how many RC people are being led off the cliff into the abyss of hell because they don’t actually read the Bible. It’s frustrating and it’s sad. RC teaches SO MANY things that dangerously contradict God’s word. I try to show them the truth. I try to point them to The Bible. I try to get them to see the danger they’re in. All for nought. They simply double down on the biblical error they are being told by their “pope” rather than actually getting a Bible and simply reading it for themselves. In all gentleness and sincerity, I pray you see the truth while there is still time.
Of course, you will say this that there was no Catholics during Pentecost in the New Testament! You say this, because you are protestant, and doing the work of the devil, for you, protest against the only church that Jesus Christ founded on rock, which is also the same church who gave us the Bible with 73 books in it, not 66 books! Actually, the Protestantism has no Bible, what they have is a plagiarized Bible with seven books missing, etc… Learn the early church fathers with an open mind, and no doubt you’ll become Catholic.
@@bobbylewis2 tell me then about Exodus 20:4-6, is it now ok for catholicism to make and bow to statues, idols and body parts? and Ex 20:8-11, shows us the Lord's day is the 7th day Sabbath -- that can never change, according to the Bible. what don't you believe about that?
@@tony1685 Neither of these things are on subject. I want evidence for the Catholic Church being founded by Constantine. Can you give me ANY primary source, non-SDA secondary source, any historical reasoning? We can get to other things after but for now, you need to back up what you said with actual fact. Spoiler: Never heard a single shred of proof in favor of your position, but I'm all ears.
Yeah unless he went to a different rite. Also at my church people come dressed up down and all around. Just as many basketball shorts and football jerseys as slacks and polos lol I do always dress up cause it makes it an occasion for me
A true story from America: In the late sixties a group of Christian pro life protesters were all arrested outside an abortion clinic and held overnight - Baptist and Catholics. They were in the same cell together, sang and prayed together all night. When they went home the Baptists asked their family 'how come we don't love Mary like the Catholics?' The Catholics asked their families 'have you accepted Jesus as your personal Saviour?' You reminded me of this. Love you, Brother, from a Catholic sister.
Catholic and Orthodox Church experience uses all 5 senses. Sight (the beauty of the sanctuary), sound (the melodic chants), smell (incense), touch (hence all the standing, sitting and kneeling), and taste (nothing sweeter than the eucharist!). A totally immersive experience for the mind, body, and soul! Our early church fathers knew what they were doing! Amen.
I converted to the Catholic faith, so I had my time not having a clue what was happening. Now it is home, it renews me every time. Learn your faith please, you’ll get even more.
Imagine how it was when I was growing up. We had to fast, except for a little water, between midnight, and receiving Holy Communion. Back then, everybody who planned to receive Holy Communion wanted to go to the first Mass on Sunday morning, so we could have breakfast when we went home. It was standing room only, and often had parishioners overflowing out the door... and it was every bit as beautiful. Mass was in Latin then, or a lot of it was. It was beautiful, but it also was great for improving your vocabulary. Lol I still remember the responses, including those of the altar boys. (I was in the same room with my brothers when they were learning, and I paid attention. Lol)
Bless you Sir. I'm Catholic I attend every Sunday and am an usher. Mass is 1 hour or less at every parish I go to. I can even catch my football games except the early east coast ones
I am considered an adult convert, & was not raised in church, but drawn to the Catholic Church since my earliest memories, so to me, I've always been Catholic & didn't know it. I love this message, Sir. Thank you for sharing your experience, willingness to learn from the source, & welcome!
I am thrilled to see this man talking about what he experienced and I will pray for his conversion and for all those he will lead into our beautiful Catholic Church!! I love being Catholic ❤
Catholic Deacon here. My Brother I have never laughed so hard at something that was true. For some who are first timers, the stand, sit and kneel is the biggest thing they notice right off. We try to keep Mass to an hour to an hour and a half so we can beat everyone to the lunch buffet. I will be praying for you and ask that you pray for me as well.
Some Sundays, usually the day after a hard hike, the calisthenics are tough. My back and knees kill me. Genuflecting getting into and out of the pew is a chore.
I'm a cradle catholic and I can't thank you enough for the smiles you gifted me. I'm glad you visited our Holy Catholic Church and hope you return. Father Philip, below, says it well. May God bless you abundantly.
My brother in Christ as a cradle Catholic I can only smile and laugh at your delivery of this message about our mass 😂 God bless you and no matter what Christian sect you’re with we will all be there with Jesus someday God bless you ✝️♥️
This is hilarious!!! It’s done in good spirit! (Pardon the pun.) Whats funny too is all the people that say “where is that in the Bible” and have no idea that the whole Mass is taken from the Bible!! 😂😂😂 I often say, many people know a bible, but they don’t know THE bible!
I came into the Catholic Church in 2020 but I grew up Protestant (various denominations) and this is so real. I will say that Mass isn’t that long generally. An hour, maybe an hour and a half tops. I definitely went to Protestant services that long or longer growing up. I’m glad you were able to go though, it’s such a different experience
Omgosh! You, sir, had me rolling. I was raised Catholic and we do stand and sit a lot. I remember many, many years ago they changed the service and none of us knew when to sit or stand or kneel. My cousin, my sweet cousin who was handicapped never missed a beat. She was right there kneeling and standing right when she should. After church her mom, my Aunt asked her how she knew when to do everything. She looked at my Aunt like she was an idiot,” Easy, I just watch the alter boys.”! Out of the mouth of babes basically.
Oh how lovely and you have just scratched the surface. When to mass in Assisi turned to a person and said "Peace be with you" she said the same in another language. At that moment I will filled with peace. The mass is alive with God's presence.
As a Catholic myself, I love this video. The only thing is that the mass is only about an hour long. I hear this all the time from Protestant friends. Lol.
I agree, service is usually about an hour. Coffee, donuts, tang on patio after for everyone to converse. I've been to other denomination services and that's when we're talking 2-3+ hours.
I went Catholic school , Jr high/ all girls high school so I am more than familiar with what everything said in this video. All except service being long.
If you're into it, the hour passes real fast. Really depends on how good the homily is. I'm blessed to have a great parish with a fun and engaging priest that really educates.
So glad that you had a good experience attending Mass! The important thing is to know and understand the parts where one kneels. Those are very holy and reverent moments. You’ll appreciate it much more once you know!
i am roman catholic , was waiting for him to get to the kneeling , standing and sitting ..... he didn't disappoint . longest mass I attended was one good Friday service .. first spoken words by the father , were to let us know that once mass started you could not get up and leave ..... 3 hours . sorry dear. Lord , but once will last me a lifetime
I love your videos and as a Catholic, I’m extra joyful to see this one. I have to disagree with your last point though. In my town, we Catholics get out way ahead of the Baptists. You can tell as the restaurants have “church rushes” for brunch and lunch as each of the denominations finish their services. I call it “Catholic aerobics” by the way. 😆. Bless you brother! Keep up the good work of bringing laughter to the world.
So Funny! We have an old Irish joke that we Catholics suddenly stand up and sit down so the Priest can spot the Protestants! Some masses do have choirs, but unfortunately as people, especially young people) are leaving the Church these are hard to keep going. I am glad your priest led the congregation in Hymns. I would like to think that anyone dressed respectfully is welcome at any Catholic Mass (but please don't go to communion until you have done the sacraments to become Catholic, especially reconciliation.) There is a lot of nonsense spoken about Catholicism. There are alot of RU-vid videos from High profile converts who will set you straight (eg John Henry Newman; Scott Hann etc). God Bless!
You stand up for reverence when you pray, sing, listen in Jesus presence, you kneel in worship when the sacrificial lamb of God is offered up and we asked God for mercy and the rest of the time we sit to listen.
Upon This rock I will build my church and the gates of hades will not prevail against it. Matthew 16:18. Two thousand plus years and still going strong. Come join us!
quote---Upon This rock (Jesus) I will build my church and the gates of hades will not prevail against it. Matthew 16:18. .. unquote OUT Of CONTEXT!!!! When did hades ever have gates?? Keep the dead in, or out???? That verse means NOT even death will keep His word from spreading!! --Since the FACTS that the first Catholic church BUILT in Rome was in 325AD!! What catholic church was Peter the First pope of the catholic church in Rome??? NO Catholic church until 325AD!!! >>>>>
It's in the book of Acts, in the Epistles of Paul to the Church in Roman. Paul is writing too the church in Rome... Bye the way;, I would suggest you research that 325 AD figure you quote in your comment , it's more like 57 AD.... That .makes sense because Paul speaks about 500 witnesses to the death and resurrection of Christ Jesus still living.
As Carla once told Sam on "Cheers" long ago concerning Catholicism, " It's not a religion for wusses." Glad you went, Josh. If you want to follow Jesus, the Catholic Church is the place to be since He started it. God bless you, sir. 🙂😎🙏🙏🙏
Protestants read the Bible in a different way. Once I mentioned the four sins that cry out to vengeance, and later a Protestant said skeptically, I'm not finding these four sins in the Bible. (Was it pre-internet days?) Of course, mention of each of these sins is in different place in the Bible, but because they weren't neatly in one chapter labeled, "The Four Sins that Cry Out To God for Vengeance," she thought they must not exist.
The beauty of the whole "nsync" of the mass. No matter where you are in the world whether you speak the language of the mass, we Catholics know what is going on and the prayers being prayed even if we don't speak or understand the language. We still understand what is being prayed and what is taking place. We can just say the prayer in English and it is the same thing that is being no matter what country or language in the world. The Eucharist and communion is same all over the world for us as well.
Thanks for video. This Catholic laughed. But on a serious not now... Jesus is present on the altar and in the tabernacle in the consecrated bread and wine, which become his body and blood. People be rushing here and there and everywhere to see Taylor Swift or Beyonce (don't y'all be coming for me), but Jesus is in our Catholic Churches 24/7 and hardly anybody goes to see him. Please Josh. Pop in an visit him from time to time and thank him for your great sense of humour. *with a U. I'm Irish.
To have turned up to a Catholic Church when one isn’t must be the work of the Holy Spirit. All our prayers are truly heard. Amen. Come Holy Spirit and fill the hearts and mind of everyone especially our divided brothers and sisters in Christ. Then all people of other faiths and ideologies who still don’t know the Lord Jesus Christ will come to know him as Lord and Saviour in the fullness of His Church with the consecrated priesthood who dispense the Sacraments: Christ’s grace and true presence. Amen
Man, you had this Catholic laughing! It was great that you came. If you get someone to explain the Mass it will make sense, including the reason we stand, sit or kneel at certain parts of it. God bless you, brother in Christ.
As a catholic, I am absolutely floored by your statements! I never laughed so much and you brought me joy in my heart. We both love Jesus and if the church is pulling you in, we will welcome you with open arms. We are not perfect people but the church teaches us to love Christ with the best of our abilities even though her teachings are challenging at times.
😂😂😂 l love my Catholic faith brother. Glad that you have the courage to attend the mass. Pray one day you will discover & experience the greatness of the Holy Mass & will never leave it ever❤🙏🙏🙏❤
I'm catholic, converted in 2018. Yes my brother, you are so right and it's hysterical listening to your reactions. My first reaction to catholicism was that catholics were cannibals, because the wafer and the wine were so real and really became the blood and body of Christ. What's really amazing is when you finally put all the pieces together. Hope you will continue to visit.
As a Catholic, I like to think of the Host as a transplant, from His body to mine, and the blood as a needed transfusion, again, from Him to me. Both of which I need to make it to the next Mass.
@@normvw4053 oh i agree, it's a process. but i am hoping to encourage you to actually read and study the Christian Bible which proves that even a simple read shows catholicism is paganism, not Christianity, Sir.
@@tony1685 From cover to cover. Remember, Christianity is the banner we claim to be under, the belief that Jesus came down from heaven to save us from ourselvs, and through Him lead us back to the Father, how we celebrate Christianity, that is called religion
The beauty is, you can attend anywhere in the world the holy mass and you can follow the service, even when you do not know the language. The structure is al the same. But beware attending a Latin mass is even better!
That's not the only crazy thing... I come from a small village in Asia, went to work in the Middle East (the Arabian Gulf), and attended mass at the American Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. In all these places, the Mass is the same. I know what to do.. I know what to say and nobody made me feel unwelcome. That's basically what Catholic means. Universal.
You can watch mass from England, Italy, France, Pakistan....no matter where in the world, it will be the same. It's awesome to think that Mass is offered nonstop around the planet at every second of the day. Great vid, but honestly, daily mass is usually 30 minutes and Sunday mass is usually an hour. And many don't wear Go to Church on Sunday clothes, especially in the summer. And our expression about movement in church is stand up, sit down, kneel, pray pray pray.
Loved your take on our "Mass". Blessings and prayers and all our brothers and sisters from all faiths are always welcome. The universality of our faith is clearly seen at all masses.
