Love this car!!! I have one in yellow and it’s stock and I have no more desires for anything more. The 1zz engine is actually a really good fit for this car.
Got a modded red one here in the UK.. The handling is on another level. Imo far better than a mx5. Only thing is no storage. I've done some mods to it and it always gets looks from people. Got a different emblem on mine so people aren't sure what it is. Cheap to run, but the storage issue. Aaarrrh!
I'm in the UK too! It just depends what you're trying to store I guess. I can get a week's shopping for 2 in mine even with my girlfriend in the passenger seat. Obviously a lot more when it's just me. What emblem do you have, is it the MR-S screaming chicken one?
Hey mate. I've actually removed the rear bin doors today so that may make somemore room, hopefully along with the spare tyre gone from the front. It's got a black background with the screaming chicken and no badges on the rear

I bought mine for 1500, 2 engines and 3 transmissions later and I still love it (although I wanna punch whoever said they're reliable 😂). Just put rims on it and it looks 20 years newer.

to be honest, I love the car since 2 fast 2 furious... for me, it's such a compact car, small but fun. it's RWD as well. I'm planning to get it when I got enough money.
Bought Mine 2012 for 4200€ including Hardtop, SMT 2001 I think it had 60k Miles on . Had two accidents With it (wet street ,Axe broke ) easy cheap fixes
Where i live the cost is like miata NA or NB, but other parts are more expensive like hardtop or swaybars or even bodykits(sideskirts spoilers). Its also hard to find short shifter for one then u need to buy is from wish or something china-lke xD. Anyway i feel like its better option than a miata in terms of possibilities u can do with it. Wanna go hard? throw v6 inside. If u do this with miata u wont have that much traction etc :P. And its more rare to find on roads wich is pros i think

Deetroiter go from underneath, the actual metal, put ur hand under, it’s open underneath, grab a long nose plier and squeeze the tabs from underneath, then with one hand grab the clip out from top.

Do something more relevant to ownership like maintaining the car. How hard is it to maintain with the mods you have. What would you have done differently, and why? Continue to add to your story of ownership. Answer the questions of why own one based on why you chose the MR2. What worries you about owning the car? Inquiring minds want to know. :)

My friend has this car but his looks way better without all the over kill modifications. In my opinion those wheel well add ons and the fin at the back make the car look silly. That's just my opinion though.

Im really looking into getting an MR2 and i gotta ask what year do you have? Ive always seen people say dont buy pre 2003 because they leak oil and have Converter problems. However they vary in price so much. Some people want 10k for a 2003 while others want 5.
If you buy an mr2 that’s a pre-03 (00-02), the main issue is the pre-cats; catalytic converters in the headers. These years’ Achilles heel is that they suck up pre-cat material into the engine, scarring the walls and possibly damaging the rings, meaning blow by and burning oil. However, that doesn’t mean all 00-02 are bad. If you go look at one to buy, smell the oil off of the dipstick. If it smells like you dunked your finger in gasoline, and the owner says they’ve recently changed the oil, run away. If it doesn’t smell too much like gas, and the oil isn’t brand new, it’s probably in good condition. After you buy any 00-02 MR2, the first order of business is to remove said pre-cats, which can be done by removing the header and either smacking the material out with long screwdriver/etc, or replacing the header with a catless one such as PPE or whatnot. Hope ya learned something :)
@@sayde435 generally, there is another set of cats in the midpipe. The pre-cats are really only there for when the car is cold. Otherwise the main cat takes care of emissions. (Not legal advice)

Chris Washington, which is actually usually prettty pricey, however we have a ton of bad condition ones here 😂 but recently they’ve been shooting up in price so idk. When i got mine 2 years ago they were all 3-5 grand
