I would love to arguee just because it's the internet....But this has to be some of the most sound advice out there. I use a huge extractor (commercial washer) at work with a massive commercial drier with a whole multistage chemical Injection system... no expense spared as we are an emergency services department maintaining turn out gear worth over 4k a set that is washed after every exposure, plus all the usual bedding and laundry of our fire & police stations and even public Works depts. We have researched the crap out this topic... what I didn't know that I learned through this research for my home laundry was shocking.... this guy summed it up perfectly. Only other thing, there is alot to chemicals. Many sports gear is designed to be breathable and moisture wicking, the use of consumer softeners can have substantial negative effects on them. We also use a "chemical break" on some clothing which increases the PH, softens the water, includes emzines and boosts the effect of the laundry soaps we use. It's also shocking how little.soaps we use with the injection systems. Consumer high efficiency units have nothing to do with cleaning efficiency... that is about environment energy and water use. I will take advantage of the extra rinse and water plus feature of my home units when I have heavily soiled clothing. For regular water items, even the normal speed cycle is more than enough. We often over clean, and over agitate our clothing shortening it's life. Same is true of over drying and heat shocking clothing.. our commercial units have a multistage temp system and you can tell just by feel the difference when towels and such come out. I am surprised I don't see more consumer based injection systems for home use. The laundry savings would be huge. Its shocking how much extra detergent we all typically pour in, yet how little it really takes.

What is stripping laundry? Never heard of that term.

I air dry my dress pants and some of my tops. Without fabric softener pants have a lot of static especially it the winter. So Mr. Expert please advise what you would do about that.

Thank you! I kept seeing people stripping their towels in the bathtub. I thought to myself, why not just use a soak setting on the washer, then rinse clean?

In lieu of fabric softener and dryer sheets, I use wool balls.

He says use more than the minimum amount of detergent for HE detergents, but it feels like the opposite is later stated from the suds and the washer buildup.

Great information but bad editing of the video. The video crops out him saying "Never" on point 3 and point 5. Instead it sounds like he's saying "do it" while the text displayed says to "not do it".

Fabric softener is actually useful. It reduces static cling. Very useful against cat hair.

Actually what i do is soak my clothes in a big tub not bathtub 🛁 😅 (common and normal here in asia) overnight then in morning use washing machine spin+dry then full cycle again with less liquid detergent+colorsafe bleach 😅 and vinegar to fabric softener option and dry under the sun 🌞🌄 😅😅 so smell good and fresh 🎉❤

I don't wholly agree with you. I learned from the owner of a laundromat that the best use of fabric softener is to break down the foam in an over-sudsing condition. His complaint was that many people do not understand that a premeasured box of soap (routinely sold in laundromats) used all at once in smaller washing machines often causes them to over flow with suds (that one box is good for several loads). A cap or pouch of fabric softener quickly breaks down the suds. I have used that tactic at home more than once, especially when my spouse decides to use a cup of detergent when only little would do. .

I have a corduroy shirt that states to wash in cold water separately and than to tumble dry low.. The shirt is s little big on me so I was thinking about washing in warm and than tumble dry high for a better fit..Is this safe or could I possibly RUIN the shirt?

I will believe in your credentials when you tell the public which detergents are heavy duty and which are not.

Doing laundry stripping in my bathtub overnight leaves the bathtub super clean and white❤ gets rid of all the black stains on the surfaces.

Leaves a residue? Yes, that is the *point* of fabric softener. It restores the coating that was originally on them when you bought them. Ugh.
