Watching this to get motivated....well, my BMI was 15; after 4 weeks of fights, I am proud to say, I ate my way up to 16. But the more I gain weight, the more difficult it becomes to eat. Well, I guess the show must go on.

Learning that recovery doesn't necessarily equal happiness had been such a tough truth. I experienced that initial low point as well.. probably one of the darkest times of my life but I've gained a great sense of resiliency from it which has helped soo much. Thank you for sharing this!

Hanne you inspired me to finally recover....I was at my lowest and for some strange but fortunate reason I came across your first youtube video about recovery...I ended up watching all of them and slowly began my own recovery. I am still getting there and I am so extremely grateful for your youtube videos. They have helped me tremendously especially when I am always on the verge of considering to relapse. Your videos help me think clearly and have made me realize that recover is possible and that I just have to be strong and commit to this. I also ended up subscribing, through you, to @MerryroseHowley, @Rebecca Leung and a few others. I cant thank you enough. I am really happy and proud that I've made it this far. I'll challenge myself everyday to be better. Thank you again coming from South America Guyana😊💖👍

Recovery has been soooo hard. I currently have a healthy weight, but I feel too bad with my body, it literally disgusts me. I hate how my clothes fit, I hate not having a flat stomach and I'm at a point where I just can not take it anymore. :'( :'(

I can SO DAMN much relate to what you talk about! Do you think you could say more about your experience with the betterment of digestive issues during recovery in detail? Thanks in advance!
@HanneArts
@HanneArts 5 лет назад
I have a video on bloating and the like in recovery (you can find it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZICbJFpnKMc.html). What tends to be the case is that there is a lot of digestive problems at first, as your body gets used to the new portions. After some time, as you continue eating regularly and sufficiently, these will go away xx

This extreme hunger and lack of energy now I eat more seems so backwards but is happening so much to me
@heavenlyflower_sl
@heavenlyflower_sl 6 месяцев назад
if it might help, part of it is your hunger cue is reset to what's supposed to be, because previously it was suppressed so it became your new normal, but unhealthy. I'm experiencing the same now, but I try to persist that this is the period of changes, so nothing is permanent. 2nd reason is part of the brain which has been in ED so long sees the old "normal" as the safety zone, regardless it's ruining our body. Change is scary for the brain, we go to uncharted territory. So I'll just keep on doing what's good for my body and gently telling my mind that this is not how we do things anymore.

Is counting calories, and weighing food restricting? I still eat a pretty good amount 2000 cals a day but I’m not sure if im restricting?
@HanneArts
@HanneArts 5 лет назад
Added to my Q&A list :) xx
@nias2156
@nias2156 5 лет назад
Well it depends why you do it. If you don’t allow yourself to eat over 2000 and weigh to check if you’re not getting too much (or just exactly the right amount) then yeah I’d say it’s a disordered behaviour.
@nias2156
@nias2156 5 лет назад
Even if you’re doing it to check if you’re eating enough I’d suggest you’d stop by now. Your eyes can measure by themselves and more importantly your body knows what it needs better than the scales!

Do chickpeas and beans make you bloat? In recovery, I’m scared of eating those things. Also, how many calories do I have eat in a day? Is it ok to do leg and face slimming exercises or will I just not gain any weight if I do those things because I am and I’m gaining a very tiny amount of weight, only like 1 pound s month.
@HanneArts
@HanneArts 5 лет назад
Initially, maybe a little bit. If you add them in gradually, however, I don't think it should be a massive problem. They are, in fact, a really nutritious thing to add to your diet! Intake differs per person, but will likely be 2,500+ as a minimum. For now, it is likely best not to exercise and focus completely on rest and recovery :)
@gauashxh5544
@gauashxh5544 5 лет назад
Hanne Arts ok. Thank you so much, I will try to fight my disorder and eat more and exercise less
@gauashxh5544
@gauashxh5544 5 лет назад
Also, is it ok to still eat healthy in anorexic recovery? What if I eat salads for dinners so I don’t bloat but 1600 cal total per day?
@HanneArts
@HanneArts 5 лет назад
It is ok to eat healthy, as long as you also make sure to face your fear foods. Add them in regularly, and don't avoid e.g. chocolate just because you feel like you have to eat 'clean.' As I responded to your other comment, try for 2,500+ kcal xx
@gauashxh5544
@gauashxh5544 5 лет назад
Hanne Arts today I ate a black bean burger (fear food because beans have high sodium and it causes bloating), and I also had ice cream and chocolate and 1/4 of a cookie. I felt really guilty though. And 2500 seems like so much ahhh. I have trouble just eating 1600 :(

I really wanted to know what the actual feelings are/were behind the eating disorder for you. But of course that is extremely personal and you may not want to share details, and can be diff for everyone of course. Unless you have covered it in another video? Or maybe there' are books that covers it/other resources. I know it's control but why the need for control in that particular person/family situation? That's the detail I want to get to. :O)
@HanneArts
@HanneArts 5 лет назад
I guess that's a very individual thing, but also a very difficult question to answer. For me, I know we moved around a lot & I got very bullied when we lived in Holland. There were a lot of things I had no control over whatsoever. This may have, in part, contributed (at least in my specific case) xx
@insideself1471
@insideself1471 5 лет назад
@@HanneArts: Right, thanks for your answer. I know for me I did years and years of personal therapy and only got to some "true" answers that explained everything for me when in my 50s! 58 now, and feel so diff about myself bec. of it. Starting to love myself/forgive etc. I want to show the world how to feel your feelings and get to this truth we have inside ourselves. Bec. without those flashbacks/memories of what happened that finally came, I would still be wondering what happened/why I behave the way I do and feeling bad about myself, so that's my aim (when I eventually get blog/youtube going that is!) . I feel so strongly about it of course. And people mostly keep it quiet, for obvious reasons, but for some, this may help them a lot. :O) But I am also concerned about any family who might find my channel - oh no! :O)
