My Mom had Tinnitus for over 40 years! She once told me that the noise use to sound like a plane in the backyard. She also had many other issues. HB/eye problems, Kidney infections, heart problems, etc. She was 89 years old when she died. She was very loving to her Grand and Great grandchildren. She died 6/1/2023. I was her caregiver for the last 3 years and was happy she was out of her misery. It was difficult to see her suffer because she was really a nice person who loved us and our children. The last thing was when she turn and fell off the bed and broke her elbow! My Dad died afterwards on June 14th. He stayed until she left. He use to cook for her and make sure she had breakfast. He also had the same issues except the Titinnus. He was 94 yrs. His memory was excellent! He would remember back in 1940's! They were married for 68 yrs and had 7 children. I learn Pure Bio Energy method of healing that did give her an ease with the noise.

I drink no caffeine nor do I take any pain killers although i was a Alcoholic for 27yrs. I've been sober for 12YRS and 10mths now . I've had tinnitus for 4 years now . Most a high pitch squeal in my right ear . Mine is at its worse when I awake from a sound sleep . I've gotten to the point that I can mellow it out with music or by writing poetry and short life stories . Sometimes I catch myself looking for the sound . I pray for a cute for us all daily . I have had tinnitus all my life and it is one of my earliest memories. My sister is the same. Finally (after many years of being told there is no treatment) I have had a hearing test that confirmed hearing loss and recommended bilateral aids . I’ve talked to my sister and recommended she be tested as well. We both grew up thinking everyone heard the same noises. Mine never vary, never recede. My perception of it varies according to the attention I give and my level of concentration on other things it but ultimately it is a constant in my life. I would love to experience total silence.

Tinnitus is a pretty crappy thing to suffer from - but I have found all the things that you mentioned in this video have an effect on my tinnitus in one form or another. If I drink too much caffeine my tinnitus freaks out and its the same with booze too, although fortunately I dont drink too much. But also if I dont sleep too well its the same thing - loud tinnitus. 2008 went to an Alan Holdsworth concert in a small venue, and it was LOUD. Woke next morning with the ringing that has never gone away. Use ear plugs at concerts. My daughter who took me there had no protection, but I think her younger age made her less susceptible and she had no ill effects, but she did learn to use ear plugs at future concerts because of what happened to me. I can hear it even when I cut the grass against the sound of the lawnmower. The worst thing you can do is pay attention to it; you need to engage and concentrate on other things and soon it fades into the background. But as soon as someone mentions it BANG there it is in full force. The things that make it worse for me are SUGAR, SALT and LACK OF SLEEP.

I have moderate to profound hearing loss and have Oticon S2 hearing aids. Being a rock n roll drummer for much of my life was what I believe the cause of my hearing loss. I have had Tinnitus for the past 20 plus years in both ears. Something strange is when I had Covid, I noticed my tinnitus was completely gone. Although it was only temporary, it was such a relief not to have that constant ringing in my ears. But it came back of course. In my next life...I am wearing hearing protection 24/7. ☺

I've been dealing with tinnitus since I was around 10-12 years old (now 62), it's very high pitched. The first thing I noticed was the quieter things are in a room, the louder it is. Because of this, I started playing environmental sound CD's at night. I found what works best for me is, the sound of ocean waves, no music, no birds, just waves at low volume, full bass and low treble. Been using this since my mid 20's and sleep good 99% of the time. That said, I've noticed my tinnitus has gotten worse since getting the covid vaccine, but I have not caught covid.

I'm also a US veteran, and the VA health service sent us all a memo in 2020 telling us not to take the vaccine if we're allergic to any of the ingredients! I said I was almost unvaccinated, because in the day, in order to keep my job I was required to be vaccinated even though I knew I was allergic - I almost died.

I have tinnitus 24/7 but very rarely notice it as I just dont think about it. However it does get intrusive and quite loud when someone mentions it or as in this instance it pops up on my RU-vid feed as an informational video. As it was by Dr Cliff's channel I decided to watch and possibly learn something new and helpful. Not a good decision as I now have jet engines screaming in my head and its going to be a long flight until I can get my brain to lower the volume. Im not complaining as its just part of life that you need to accept and learn to live with. I have had friends who didnt have hearing problems or tinnitus but have passed away. So although it can be annoying its not a big deal in the bigger picture and I find its best not to think about it and then it fades into the background. Takes effort and practice to stop your brain hearing unwanted sounds from the past but it can work most of the time and tinnitus only becomes apparent when under some stressful situations or when I read or hear the word.

@@shorty7363 Thanks for your advice, much appreciated. However my tinnitus doesn't bother me at all usually as I don't think about it. It's only when it is mentioned in conversation that I become aware of it. I've had it for over 40 years and it's not going to disappear anytime soon. I don't worry about anything that I can't control or change so I put it out of my mind. Tinnitus is generated by our brains which can be trained to ignore or reverse some perceptions. E.G. mirror imaging. It's just mind over matter.

I have had tinnitus for 40 years now, due too working in a loud factory! I turned to drink because the buzzing in my ears were so loud, I could not sleep! I had a hearing aid, but only used it when being with families and friends, because my ear hurt at the entrance of my ear! I have excepted that there is no cure, so one has to handle the frustration of the buzzing! I can go weeks with no buzz/ringing of the ears, then I receive a spike that lasts for weeks! I do not add salt to my food, but I do drink a lot of coffee. This might be a coincident - But each day around 5pm, after tea time, I lay on the sofa facing east, when out of the blue my tinnitus starts up, yet once I stand up and start working around the house, the tinnitus stops? My spikes of tinnitus has improved over the years due to me creating drinks that I think helps! I stay clear of sugar, I use honey, lemon, cider vinegar, cumin/black pepper, turmeric, garlic, avocado, nuts, yet stay clear of red meat and take away! Use traffic light system on food packages when shopping! Keep away from the red! Doctors don't have all the answers to our body malfunctioning - I love using RU-vid and finding answers to my defects/ailment/s!

I was clearly told beforehand that the medicine is ototoxic and may harm the cochlea. And that's what happened, I got tinnitus that's rather loud at times. For some reason people still tend to say that it's because of stress, pre-menopause or whatever they just happen to come up with. I've noticed that for me the most important thing is sleep. I'm 75 and have had it since about age 26 , non stop. Had a low ringing on and off before that. How bad is it? Real bad. Loud , most of the time. Been taking Gaba 750 mg. once a day for about ten months now. Also, have gotten the blood pressure under control. One of the two, or a combination of the both is working because the ringing/hissing sound is lower. Somedays, yes it's high. Who knows what triggers it? I wear ear protection while doing anything that makes loud noise. Loud noise always makes it worse. Also "wind." Riding with an open window in the car will make it worse later on in the day. I've heard pro and con about the supplement, Gaba. For me, I think it has given me some relief. I've had no side effects and it's inexpensive. So, whether it's my lower blood pressure, or the Gaba, I'll keep taking it. Took over 6 months of daily use to notice a lowering of the noise. Maybe it's all in my "head", huh? Anyway, hear's my advice to everyone that's going crazy because of the constant noise in their head: Look at it as the cross you have to carry. Life isn't fair . . . period. Most of my friends are in the cemetery. Others are crippled. Some in nursing homes. I'm a Vietnam combat vet and life-long rough carpenter. I'm lucky to be alive, that's the way I look at it. God bless. Stay strong.....

@@colinpeacock7648 Some reading this will think, "Yeah, that's easy for him to say." No, it's not easy. Living with a roaring sound in my head has never been easy, but I've learned a few things about it and have learned to live with it. It's not just the tinnitus that's bothering those that have it. There's other things bothering you too and these things build to a point that just plain seems to run over you. It wears you down. The constant noise in your head seems like the worst and seems the loudest when I am letting other things bug me too. The trick is , there are times when you are actually not aware of it and the constant noise in your head is not an issue. Ask yourself "Why?" The reason is not that the sounds in your head are lower, or there's lots of background noise masking it, it's that your mind is preoccupied with something else. If those times do in fact happen to you, that's all the proof you need to teach yourself to beat it. Now, that said, I must admit I am a religious person . I truly believe God wants me to be at least in good spirits through this endeavor called life. But, the bad guy runs this planet and wants us all miserable and wants me to dwell on my problems, which makes me more miserable. This tinnitus thing is really, all in our head. As hard as it is, just form a habit of "not" thinking about it. It's not going to get me down. Thank God for the blessings we do have. There are many. Look at the problem in this other way and message this vid 6 months from now and tell me if you are doing better. God bless! You can and will beat it.

Thank you doctor for the video and the information and education. My ringing can be excessive and fluctuate intensely. I do have pretty extensive cervical stenosis which has contribute to this greatly. With that said, my question is regarding salt. I don’t eat fake manufactured salt I don’t eat boxed and prepared foods that aren’t foods at all. I do use organic Celtic sea salt as a nutrient in pink Himalayan salt. Would you consider these to be two types of salt that would increase my tinnitus? Thank you if you see this and reply, may the Lord bless you and keep you and your family always. One.

What I hear is just like the ringing you get in your ears after a sudden loud noise such as a gunshot, but it never goes away. In general it never varies except a few times a month when it might change pitch and sound different but then it clears up after a minute or two and goes back to what it was. I have been diagnosed with mild hearing loss because when in noisy settings conversations are hard to make out. So ever since I've had this, I have made good use of hearing protection even if the noise isn't all that loud, but especially when using power equipment, even a vacuum, as well as in the movie theater (simple ear plugs). My tinnitus and hearing loss isn't getting any better but it appears not getting any worse either.

My tinnitus was caused by a dramatic change in my pain medication. I had covid in 2020 which scarred my lungs and now I am on oxygen therapy, which affects my blood flow; I take medication for high blood pressure, high cholesterol, over active bladder, anxiety, pain management, advanced neuropathy and I suffer from the results of a malignant tumor on my right perotid gland, and I could still go on. Sleep is a "concept ", and I'm so tired, all the time. That's my reality. If not for my faith, I know I couldn't make it. Thanks for your videos and for listening.

I've had tinnitus in my right ear since a car accident many years ago. It settled to an acceptable level and the vertigo eventually disappeared. I have long covid, two years and this last year, another two noises. Another hiss, along with the usual and a noise like a squeaky wheel. My hearing is OK but the noise is too much added to the already symptoms of long covid. My neck and shoulder that side are problematic due to overuse. Wondering if that's anything to do with it. In the uk so no choice in treatments etc.

I've had a mild-moderate ringing in my ears for as long as I can remember, but can't recall when it started. I think my hearing itself is okay, I had a hearing test last year and the guy literally said I had the hearing of a teenager (I'm middle aged). I did go to quite a lot of concerts in my youth without ear protection, and played in a band for a year or two, ditto. But I don't feel my exposure to loud sound is anything much out of the ordinary. I haven't been to any concerts for a few years. What's weird though is I don't know if it has gotten worse lately, or if I'm just noticing it more. I'm wondering if my long term taking of high blood pressure medication is causing it.

I've been advised to take Duloxetine (SNRI) but it has tinnitus as a common side effect. The doctor was telling me that it was related to the possible increase in blood pressure and it wasn't a direct but rather an indirect possible side effect. Any further input on the topic you could give me? Thanks!

Many times a day I have the sensation in both ears, at the exact same time, many times during the day, of a squeezing pressure-like sensation that hurts and for a second or two causes dizziness. More research needs to be done. I hate having to ask people to speak louder, due to Tinnitus....they get very frustrated having to repeat themselves, and I get angry at their kack of patience. We need to wear a badge on our lapel, which is a symbol of hearing loss, to educate people who have no idea what we go through. The subject is never mentioned.
