For Example my grandson . When he was 3 years old , my daughter has an accident and was lying on the floor and couldn't stand up or move. He ran over to the neighbors house and ask for help . with only 3 . Our kids learn to be independent at a very young age .

I am a German grandmother and I agree with you: Most of the German parents really do a good job. And those who don´t are persons who are not able to do it better. Thanks for your positive video!

@@indrahx5905 exactly…the level a lot of immigrants think it is acceptable to stop actively learning the language is oftentimes less than satisfactory. Germans like me, who speak 3 languages fluently and was also tortured with Latin in school have little patience with this attitude… Speak German, you guys….

In my opinion, parents are there to support and accompany their children on their way to an independent life in the best possible way - but not to do everything for them and make every decision for them! Children are not the property of their parents! For me, it's an essential part of growing up that children have the opportunity to make their own decisions - even if they are definitely wrong. You learn from your mistakes - and this learning begins at an early age... I worked for 14 years as a self-employed childminder in a two-room apartment rented for this purpose right next to my own House - and during this time I looked after 5 children under the age of 3 every day; sometimes schoolchildren too, but this was rather rare. From this experience, I can say that it is essential to let children go their own way - as long as it doesn't become dangerous. You can trust children to do things; sometimes you are surprised and amazed at what an early age children develop a sense of right and wrong, dangerous or not dangerous and also social interaction with other people (regardless of age). On the subject of homeschooling: interacting with other children is enormously important for the development of healthy social skills - but this is taken away and denied to them if they are not allowed to attend "normal" school! Numerous studies have shown that many such children/young people tend to exhibit anti-social behavior and are much less able to fit into society - and that can hardly be the parents' wish or goal... Therefore, in my opinion, the motto is: "I am there to accompany you on your way. Try it on your own - but be sure that I am always there to help and hold your hand. Explore the world according to your ideas - and if you don't know or understand something, I'm here to explain. You may still be little - but you have rights that I will demand for you and make sure that they are respected. You are a gift - and I am the one who protects this gift without restricting it." I raised my own son according to this motto and, in consultation with their parents, my numerous daycare children too - and I would never (want to) do it any other way... ^^

In Germany, homeschooling is forbidden by law, thus it is illegal because every child, no matter their parents, deserves good education

The bike riding at a young age might be because lots of german kids start with a „Laufrad“. It‘s a bike without pedals. You „run“ with it. It helps to learn the balance of a bike. And then, when they are ready, they can seamlessly ride a normal bike without much training or training wheels. It‘s great!

@@lynnm6413 I‘m sorry for your dogs! I can only shake my head about some parents. I always tell my kids to mind animals. Just yesterday my daughter saw a dog she wanted to pet and I told her to go there slowly or dismount her Laufrad. Some dogs don‘t like kids or are scared of them, snd sure enough, this one was a rescue and a bit scared.

LG {Hello Antoinette, you never cease to amaze me with your positive image of the Germans. And what you've noticed about German children in particular gives me a bit of hope in view of the conditions in our society at the moment (and I don't just mean what we did to our children during the coronavirus period). In any case, it seems that Germans are still teaching their children values. But I think that this is also the case in other countries and cultures. Although this will certainly be somewhat different in the very poor countries, as well as in the exuberant capitalism in the USA, than in Germany, depending on the situation. I think it's great that you have addressed this topic. I am quite sure that your children will also develop fabulously. Because you have no less empathy and care for your children than the parents of the children you reported on.} Translated with DeepL.com (free version)

This is not completely true....we have raised our kids in the real urban civic center of Berlin but we have made the same experiences as Antoinette. Heute habe ich meine Enkelin (6) gefragt ob sie den Unterschied der Begriffe „ das selbe“ und „ das gleiche“ kenne. In der englischen Übersetzung werde beide Begriffe mit „ the same“ angegeben. Das selbe ist nicht das gleiche. Meine Enkelin konnte genau es erklären. Today I asked my granddaughter (6) if she knew the difference between the terms "the same" and "the same". In the English translation, both terms are given as "the same". The same is not the same. My granddaughter was able to explain it exactly.

Careful with Roblox! Yeah, this can be fun to play with, but due to the structures of internally marketed user content and monetization, there have been big issues in that game. I'm talking kids organized into dev teams with work schedules and before you know it, your kid is burned out from overwork because they stumbled into an exploitative scheme where they got promised a little bit of money and then sunk every waking hour into what aught to be a regulated job for an adult programmer. This self-exploitation is dangerous and can turn their dreams of making fun games into a self-destructive spiral of overwork and exhaustion before they're out of school. You need to watch carefully what your kid is doing on Roblox. This game lives on kids making stuff, and the owners don't care if kids get burnt making that stuff.
