The criticism comes from people nornally who don't live there and repeat the same old lines. PS the roundabouts stop all that polluting congestion you have in every other city, tge towns are off the major roads so no HGV through traffic, rush hour is busy but always moving so you can see the lakes, parks, woods etc. Shops in one with V so you dont have to drive all over place, smaller shopping zones food food shoppers who dont want the big day out. Low building regs so you can see for miles so no ' head' congestion. Much cheaper than over-rated London. Enjoy the traffic jams folks,we like our roundabouts. PSPS major roads are marked with V's and H for horizontal and vertical. MK is logical but has countryside everywhere and it takes 10 to 15 minutes to get anywhere North to South,East to West. Check itbour rather than copying the parrots. Its modern, cool, easy and if you want history its surrounded by lovely villages. And yes i do live here.
Milton keynes literally has a huge shopping centre, nature parks, the national bowl and the mk dons stadium for music. It is better than most places in the UK.
I have to point out, you were in the city centre at the xscape and that you was also less than 5 minutes walk to Campbell park so the parking issue was not a good excuse not to walk
also, you could've gone to the National Film and Sci-fi museum which also has a retro games arcade in it (although you have to pay separately for either the museum or the arcade)
Lived in MK all my life, 34 years. Tbh it’s not that bad of a place, yes you get some rough areas, but where doesn’t have them. I also don’t go out much as I have autism and struggle with anxiety, but there is quite a lot to do if you wanted to :)
if you had just left your car at the xscape you could have just walked to campbell park. and you could have walked through the park to willen lake that has a big wheel, nice pub and wake boarding etc. also some people might have liked seeing the point before it dissapears and the main shopping centre which is the largest in europe. oh also mk is the home of the redbull F1 team.
Another great thing to do is to go watch mk breakers which is the local basketball team they’re very entertaining and it’s not very expensive to go watch
If you went up 2 watford gap you might of well of gone to Northampton as well 😂 as someone who lives half an hour away from northampton and around 40 for milton Keynes i have to admit mk is better for a choice of things to do
Lived in MK since 1980. Fantastic place. Breathtaking in Spring & Autumn all the trees & shrubs showing their natural beauty. Lakes, walks, green areas, red ways for bikes & walkers. A vibrant city centre. Plus so much more. Yep, like anywhere, lots of rundown estates. Built, initially for the MK construction workers. But, public sector housing, even today.
Mk also has many massive parks and lakes that are well looked after, nice canal walks, stony Stratford, particularly nice in the summer,it’s a bit like the nice bits of London, also soon it will have a few skyscrapers with viewing platforms.
There are car parks all along the road that runs parallel to Campbell Park (before getting to the canal) or alternatively juat stay parked at Xscape/the city and walk down past the theater - 10 min walk max
Compared to a lot of places in England, you should be grateful to live in MK. Lots to do, plenty of beautiful scenery, close by to London without paying London prices on houses…it really is a nice area to live in.
You live 10 minutes from Swansea. Think it’s safe to say after visiting there that Milton Keynes is the better place. Countless things to do, more green spaces than any other city in the U.K…we literally have the best of both worlds here.
