@@OlegPasko I don't want my taxpayer money spent on a cruel, sex-pervert President Zelensky! Ukraine is the most corrupt country in the World. Deal with that Einstein!
TJ Wolf My heart is broken. I’m Ukrainian and I am opposite of what you just said. By the way Central europe us way more racist then Eastern Europe where I’m from.
Interesting video. I have visited Ukraine five times now and have found the ability to speak English - or not - is about the same as mainland Europe! I am widely travelled and have lived in Germany for a few years and speak German. I have now some friends in Lviv. I find that in both Kiev and Lviv, English is spoken, often by young people eager to improve their skills. For me, I am learning some Ukrainian phrases. For the most part, Ukrainian is the dominant language west of a Kiev but in a Kiev and places east (Kherson, Kharkiv, etc), Russian is more dominant. I do speak a little Russian. The biggest surprise for me was how advanced Ukraine actually is! Good transport connections by air (I fly from a London to Boryspil in Kiev and UIA has flights all over Ukraine!) and trains are good - and bootable online too! And there is WiFi everywhere so smartphone translators can easily be used to communicate. I find the country very cheap, pleasant people and a lovely destination. For me, only 3 hours from London by air. Thoroughly recommend a trip there! And I have some friends in North America too who also have an accent as lovely as yours! Thank you for the video. Regards from the UK
What you said about being fed extremely well by Ukrainians is sooo true, my mother is Ukrainian and growing up I was always stuffed with great food every day. Shout out from Ottawa Ontario
I’m Swedish ,and coming to Kiev for the first time... in winter... was still love at first sight. I am soo looking foreword to going back and travelling round a bit. Only met kind people, even had spontaneous guides in museums who would NOT accept payment eve though I REALLY tried hard! Food is beyond awesome Fantastic!! Thanks for great videos👌🌞❣️
The last few years have changed a lot in Ukrain. While 10 years ago I knew just a handful vegan restaurants in Kyiv, this summer alone in Podil I found about 20, so it must be sevarl hundreds in the whole Kyiv region.
I spent three months in one of Ukraine's "Lost Cities" Kryviy Rih in 2016, I loved it there! The people would come gather around me when I spoke English, they all wanted to try out their skills in my language. The food was fantastic, The family who I rented my flat from adopted me and the mom was always sending over food with her kids age 24 and 27!! For my birthday we had a BBQ at their summer place. We ate very well, picked cherries and had fresh veggies from the garden there. I am going back to Ukraine in November. Yes the language barrier was "fun" at times, but always was able to travel with no problems. Just trying to learn a few words of Russian and Ukrainian helped along the way.. This trip will be even better, how long am I staying?? Who knows, maybe a few weeks or it could be three months again.. Or if I find a sweet Ukrainian lady to marry a life time??
Raylin Martin. Hi Raylin, really enjoyed your post! My first time in Ukraine was in Krivoy Rog. I have Ukrainian friends who live there and I was last there about 2 years ago and stayed at their home. When I first went there in 2011 I went to date a woman and fell in love with the country. Now after 10 or 11 trips I have been all over the country with the exception of the Far East. If you're interested please let me know what you pay to stay in a flat there and how big is it. Also how did you find a flat there? I am interested in staying in Ukraine for months at a time. Thanks again for such a cool post! After getting such a bad rap for so many years I believe Ukraine is going to open up to even more tourism and while in one way I don't want that to happen, in another way I'm very excited because it will help the people and the economy.
Thanks, interesting video. I'm from Ukraine and agree with part what you say. But I'm not agree about last staff. About blunt. I understand that in Canada, all people are open and understanding everything, and they will never say something that can insult the feelings of another person. Maybe this is OK. But in Ukraine, a slightly different approach. People are very straightforward and if they have a position, they will tell you. And we will not do it in order to seem rude or to unshackle a person. Just because bitter truth is better than sweet lie. Different cultures))
OOF 100
I’ve always wanted to visit Ukraine which is where both my mother and father were born and it is now sad to see what has happened to Ukraine and I wish it could recover and could stay a beautiful country after the war that is currently happening between Ukraine and Russia.
My ancestry is Ukrainian Cossack. I went with my uncle in 2003 to research our family history. There were many things that surprised me having grown up American but being a very conservative person myself I found the culture very refreshing and have considered moving there myself many times. The only reason I haven't is because of my career as a gunsmith which would require me to pursue a different career as guns are highly regulated there. The people seemed a bit colder and more distant at first but after a few conversations it became very clear that the friends I did make would be loyal lifetime friends. Also it seems like once you have been befriended by Ukrainian people you are more like family than merely friends. They will also want to introduce you to all of their other friends through many different social gatherings. If you spend more than a week in rural Ukraine you will have many friends and almost daily invitations for anything from fishing to shopping to dinner to having drinks with the guys.
Myself, I am part Russian. I love Ukraine and her people. I have never been there. But what I can see and here from videos as well as some friends that I have there, It is a beautiful place. The women are gorgeous. I will be going there in the next year to find a wife. Glory to Ukraine.
i wouldn't have guessed English wasn't her native language. She sounds to me like she is from N.America. A very interesting video by an intelligent and obviously beautiful woman
I am from Czech Republic and my friend who studies in czech is from Ukraine. I'm going to visit him in Uzhgorod (Ужгород) in July. I look forward to it. Anyway, the video is great. Thanks ^^
I just visited Ukraine 2 weeks ago during the New year and Christmas period and loved it. Weather was freezing and streets under those Christmas lights were amazing with hot wine spots all around the cities. People are kind, good looking and trying to help. I dont need to repeat women are beautiful, i should say, it was beyond my expectations. Also i should add big cities like Kyiv are more cosmopolite and mixed yet i think smaller cities has more capacity to show how they are flawless. Travelling in UA is quite hard for any foreigner since there is no sign of latin alphabet available even in Kyiv. İf you are alone and not carrying a map finding where to go by metro can be a real pain. Its really hard to find english speaking people so get ready for the challange. As a Turkish( tatar), i was thinking we are the only ones unique in hosting guests at our house, later i ve been invited and hosted, totally changed. I can say we ate from afternoon till the evening so she is right its better to go with a starving empty stomach. Most different taste for me was the smoked fish varieties. I also really liked their traditional family understanding.
Have been to Ukraine several times and love it there. Am so passionate about this wonderful country and their evolving democracy. Everything she said is true! I have been invited to people's home for dinner several times and believe me, multiple courses and plates of food will be offered! I consider Ukraine my home when i'm in Europe even though i must be the only Ukrainian that doesn't speak Russian. Good job on the video!
My best friend went there a few years ago. All she talked about was how good the people were to her. They went out of their way to accommodate her, everywhere she and her group went. She dosnt speak a lick of Ukrainian, only bad Russian so she was a little worried about it before she left but she ended up loving it and wants me to go with her next time she goes. We are very blunt people to so I kind of appreciate that.
I was born in Australia but my fathers parents both immigrated from Ukraine. Sadly they both passed when I was little, and I never really got to know them or learn more about my heritage. Thankfully I have quite a few aunties and uncles that are all fluent in Russian and Ukrainian and have a lot of stories and items from them
I just have one comment (a correction) about Ukrainian food and vegetarians. I am 100% Ukrainian and was raised with very little meat in our dishes. The most popular and frequently eaten meals in Ukraine are, in fact vegetarian, -- borsht (beet soup), varenyky( potato dumplings), holubtsi (stuffed cabbage with rice and mushrooms), potato pancakes, mizeria (cucumber salad), etc... There are TONS of Ukrainian dishes that have no meat. This makes sense since Ukraine is a grain and plant based agricultural country which results in a large vegetarian cooking culture. Of course, there are some dishes with pork or chicken but these are not the overwhelming majority. Vegans, on the other hand, would have a difficult time eating in Ukraine because the meals are always doused in butter or sour cream or some other dairy based products.
That's true enough. Sadly most of the times when I go out to eat or just how my family traditionally cooks certain dishes, they end up putting meat in them like borscht with chicken and cabbage rolls with ground up meat of some sort. But thankfully when I cook with my Mom we do like you mentioned of just leaving the meat out and it is still super delicious.
I have been in Ukraine on and off for the last 3+ years... I first lived in Lutsk. In Lutsk, I was surprised how many people spoke English and restaurants having English menus... However, though cities like Lutsk, Kiev, Odessa and Ternopil have people who speak English, it is rare to find people in the Villages who speak English... I now live in Romanove Selo and Tampa Bay with my wife Oksana... She is the "Racing Queen of Ukraine." Oksana is from Romanove Selo… I met her in Tampa, FL in 2014. I love living in Ukraine more than I do in America. The food is healthier. The people are nicer. The air is better... and with the exchange rate being 1USD to over 26rph your money goes a long way... Ukraine and the people are awesome... Petro and the Government are horrible :(
I was born in Odessa, now living in the USA because I was adopted, and I am thinking about moving back. This video totally helped open my eyes open to things I totally did not think about! Thank you so much!
different in ways like more corruption, poverty & homophobia/sexism or different in ways like (almost) no gmo food, friendly, great people and beautiful cities & landscapes?
After speaking with Ukraininan women for the last year, I can say with certaintly that these are not only some of the most beautiful women on earth, they are some of the kindest and sweetest women.
Let them take off all that make up & compare it to women of color. & Then compare the skin texture when they turn 58 or 63 to a color person, we don't get chicken neck or a bunch of wrinkles around our lips and eyes and foreheads. Nor see the color of veins coming out of our legs & arms
Dahanna ha ha. “Let them take off that makeup “. The fact is it doesn’t really matter and there’s also no amount of makeup (or not) that makes the attitudes of “women of color” look any better. No thanks. Ps. Who cares about what ANYBODY looks like at 62 years old??
I was being nice for majority paleskin people, age quicker at after forty something & go up under the knife in their mid 50 or whatever, I'm 58 people can think I'm 38 up to 47 . & I don't wear clowns make up foundation nor got any wrinkles, nowhere on this body & I'm Golden Brown with a glow complexion.
Я хочу приехать в вашу страну. Я бангладешский мальчик, техник-механик одежды из Бангладеш. Пожалуйста, помогите мне. Пожалуйста, я нормальный мальчик. 01966873290
Hi Alina. I'm so glad I came across this video. My niece (African American} has recently moved to Ukraine for one year. We are all American. I've been wondering about how she is getting along so it's helpful to know what you have shared on here. She is working for an organization that tried to finance as much as possible HIV-Aids research and treatment. She has a quiet nature, highly introspective and graduated from Cornell and University of Chicago. I'm hoping she has a good experience there. She is very feminine, courteous and open-minded toward new people and new situations so those qualities combined with above average intelligence, hopefully, will be an asset to her Ukrainian experience.
Hey Deirdre, your niece sounds absolutely lovely and I hope she has an amazing time there. Good for her for taking on such an experience as well. Ukraine is not a common place to go, so I'm sure she'll have many stories. All the best to you!
I'm planning to go to Kiev Ukraine in June for a week and I will be meeting someone there and I have been looking and checking out everything I can about the city and country before I go. I enjoyed your video and still want to learn more about Kiev. The more I find out about the city the more I'm looking forward to going.
From your description, Ukraine sounds much like Texas culture. Love it already. Respect for traditions, people being honest with each other and expressing it verbally and the love of food. Think I would fit right in with the Ukrainian culture. Great video!
Some regions are very similar to Texas. I`ve grew up in south ukraine. Threre are prairies (we call them steppe). Huge territories very hot summer, we`ve lost our horse and gun tradition but in the old times it was also frontier with south so I think there could be some similarities: people are tough loud and always in movement...
Alina -- I have been to Ukraine three times when I could go to Crimea. All that you say is spot on and excellent advice. I actually love Ukraine. I have always believed that Ukrainian women are the most beautiful in the world and you definitely prove my point. I have just discovered your channel and have subscribed. Please keep the information coming!
Good points Alina. Both my parents were from Ukraine and I have visited Ukraine a number of times. It is a beautiful country and one thing that you didn't mention was that Ukrainians love to sing and often do so at family gatherings.
I have a friend from Ukraine recently. I learn a lot about Ukraine from him. You're right about the foods & the gifts! He said the same thing. Haha....
Enjoyed your Video. I have been to Ukraine several times. You are correct about the food it is all good. Try everything Also being blunt that is for sure
Thank you, Alina. Your charming, fun personality and salient assessments are a refreshing and welcomed experience. Cheers and good luck in your coming relocation to Eastern Europe - may life continue to be very fair and good to you.😊
I think Chinese ladies are far more beautiful and stylish, they break my heart to see. But they are very hard for a foreigner to marry as they are strongly bonded to their families.
These vlogs about Ukraine, particularly the ones you have done on Odessa and Kiev are so informative. I have business with the Ukrainian government requiring me to travel to Kiev shortly and I feel much better prepared for a productive visit. More so, I am positively looking forward to it very much. If I was not already having to go there your vlogs would have sparked my interest in travelling there anyway and I thank you for introducing me to the beauty and charm of Ukraine and it's cities.
Just got back from lviv.the place is insane (in a good way). nothing like this in Europe,so many different kinds of food.would recommend this city so different.
David C7mm27 The best to travel, capital, of course, and also Lviv, Odessa, Carparian Mountains of Ukraine. I live in Kyiv and I am so happy to live here!!!
@@doctor-zk9qy seriously that's something just for Ukrainians to use because the rest of world used for centuries and centuries to come as Kiev. Which is neat and easy way to say. But the beef you guys have with Russians that's your problem. I am not interested in your Slavia warfare. You guys deal with it
Hahahahahaaha this made me LOL so much! I am Australian and my grandmother is Ukrainian. Still, I don't know much about the country or culture, as my mother's family are Australian and my Ukrainian grandparents came over when she was young, 19. First of all, we are soooooo scared not to eat everything she gives us. We starve ourselves before we go over to see her! She is aggressive about it, "EAT" is said in a thick Ukrainian accent, even after we've finished the plate. She even made my brother throw up when he was five, from over feeding him. She is also very blunt and has strong religious views. Thanks for helping me understand her more!
haha wow, that's intense! I think it comes from the communism age and also living through the famines of Eastern Europe. Food is so precious to them and they love to celebrate it at all times. Thanks for the story!
You speak very well...I was in Toronto in 1988, moving back to Brazil, I got stuck in New York...where I lived for 25 years. Back in Brazil now for 4 years. I came across your channel by accident. Good job...!
Thanks for the info, I'm taking a trip to Kiev in August and this is good to know. Now, as long I don't cause any international incidents, I'll be happy!!!
I certainly agree with the 5th point and the food too, I’ve lived in Ukraine for 6 years, it’s a lovely country I have to say, the language was a struggle but as time went by I improved and made my stay even more easier!....
I've been working in a few photo studios in Tokyo for over a decade now and there's a chance we may have crossed paths. Got to translate for some Ukraine and Russian models recently and found Ukraine ladies more open friendly while Russian ladies were a tad shy and not so open. Thought it would be wise to look up on them and their culture and found your channel a few days ago. Some cool stuff here!
Yesterday, I promised my friend that I will visit him in the next 5 years in Ukraine. And today I stumble on this video which i found substantial enough and foremost thank you for creating this content. KUDOS! I cant wait to see him!! 🤗🤗🙏
Merci Alina pour ce très beau voyage à travers ce beau pays L’Ukraine 🇺🇦 ça donne envie de le visiter merci aussi pour tes beaux sourires ça fait du bien en ces temps moroses Merci encore bonne continuation ! Thanks
One of the best place in this world :) Thank you for this video💕 I've been grow up near to the Ukraine-Hungary border. I miss those years so much.❤️ Hugs & kisses from Hungary. (And please, somebody tell me the song name! 😃 It's so beautiful! ❤️ Thank you!)
I plan to Visit Ukraine next spring. I'm going to meet a woman in Kyiv that I have been talking to for a year. I found your video very informative. What I will not know how to say or understand in the language, she said she will translate for me. She speeks very good English, we have spoken on the phone. I plan to have gifts for her parents when we go so I can meet them.
So I came across this video to get to know my Ukraine people I noticed you guys really loved my music Peace on soundcloud I just wanna give you guys thanks about listening my music I really appreciate the love I got out your country I had way more streams there then here In my own country America not trying promote anything but I really do appreciate the love even though they were just streams it made me happy that someone is listening.
Pryvit Alina! Brilliant advice! I am visiting Kiev this spring for the first time...as a vegan, LOL. Seriously! I must say your skin positively glows! Keep on making these easily digestible videos!
For vegans visiting Ukraine or anywhere else in the world, I suggest using the Happy Cow app. There are a few vegan restaurants in Kiev and quite a few others that are vegan friendly.
Great video Alina I would like to visit or live in Ukraine and/or Russia someday but the language barrier is definitely a big problem, it would be pretty cool if you could start giving some Russian/Ukrainian classes in your channel, I know it would be a little bit hard or time consuming but if you think about by teaching people Russian you will be getting a lot more viewers now that the World Cup is going to be in Russia and there’s a lot of people out there like myself that want to learn a new language, in that way if you think about it you will reach one of your New Years goals faster. Please keep uploading videos like this :) You look gorgeous btw :)
My Father is half Ukrainian. I was wondering if you celebrate Orthodox Christmas. My family is all getting up there in age so no one celebrates it much. I live in Ontario Canada. I have had home made Ukrainian food from my Grandmother on my dad's side. She is in her late 80s she forgets how to speak Ukrainian or I'd probably be more fluent in it from off her.. She knows certain words. Slava Ukraine! And Canada as well
that's why you're so beautiful, I didn't know you were ukrainian, now I understand all, my wife is ukrainian as you and we also as you every couple of years come back there to solve situations with the bank, with the house, with the offices, etc.
Since a couple of years I have been starting to look to the east more and more. Besides that some of central- and east European countries have some pretty radical political and religious that I find hard to accept and digest, there are also countries where the people hold their values and culture high and know where they come from. As far as I know Ukraine is one of those countries. The more I read and watch about Ukraine, the more I learn to appreciate it. I can tell you that I in three weeks time I will be going to Lviv and the Carpathian mountains. I don't speak a word of Russian or Ukrainian but luckily I will have a traveling companion with me who does. So I am absolutely thrilled to go there.
