For me that forest temple is a monkey temple, the carving not of a giant, but a monkey, since coral island heavily inspired by indonesia and bali culture to be specific, theres a real sacred monkey temple here in bali, and theres also something about the cemetary and the fountains.
I kinda think the forest temple will help you gain the ability to speak with animal NPC's. Currently when you tryo to interact with the gorilla there is a "You don't understand what's being said".Somehow we have to learn to understand the monkey and maybe its through offerings at the temple? Like bananas in different quality levels
This is so exciting! I hope for the library we still physically collect the books and have to donate them ourselves, to give more reasons to go to the community center and also for more immersion . I also really hope you are right about island hopping, it is such a massive part of the game that was promised and I can’t wait to see what they do with it. As a side note, another little mystery (at least to me) is the locked cellar-type thing next to our farmer’s house
@sarahsunstone not to mention that that Lofi game that sponsored you looks really cool, is there a special link to press to support you or do I just look it up on steam, I only have a steam deck for pc but it should still play
@@Velvet1001 it is!! Thank you so much for being so thoughtful. there’s a link in the description for your convenience but it’s not a referral link or anything!
I really hope you see this. In terms of island hopping I took the roadmap mentioning Savanah access as essentially confirming that is still a thing. Especially now seeing the photo you showed mentioning the different areas. Of course the area could just be accessible outside of the boat seeing as how it does seem to be a connected land mass but I really do feel that was them saying the first "island" (quotations cause it is technically part of your home island) will be avaliable sometime next year. Which knowing stairway games will probably be done sooner than later cause they have steadily been way ahead of schedule. Truly love that about that and honestly impresses me beyond belief and honestly made me lose a lot of respect for many other game developer because stairway is showing that you can release stuff sooner than you thought and it be finished. Meanwhile I find it hard to think of another company that does this every other is either pushed back several months or released half baked and unfinished.
There is also the store in wakuu's father's house. I remember getting a letter in the mail saying I could go to the light house at certain times of the week, but it isn't implemented yet, though you can kinda see inside passed the door! Can't wait to see what that is!
oh wow! Never knew about the island hopping feature. I really hope they put this in the game and finish the features you mentioned. I found this info fascinating. Thanks!
I love all of these ideas. I also remember the recycling center and community garden getting built up as things we could restore and use, and it just seemed to fall to the wayside so I'm hoping it will make a reappearance in 1.0 as part of the community restoration storyline. The other altars being used to make offerings to the giants and merfolk makes so much sense! I've also been waiting for those sites to become relevant. And I never even noticed that sneaky southern farm exit! I'll have to check that out at some point. Also, has anything ever become of the area behind Paul and Anne's house that the giant meteor is blocking or is that still another mystery? I've only been up there in an older version of the early access and it was pretty empty.
Totally forgot about the island-hopping thing. Yeah seeing how that was the last stretch goal, I think that will be the last thing because the road map just indicated what's happening next year, not 2025. I think that city one, it wouldn't surprise me if that's where Antonio lives. He can't live far if he still visits the island to see his daughter frequently. The sewer thing is totally giving me SDV vibes because you were able to go down there too in that game at some point.
Re: the sewer network--if the devs didn't have plans for it, we wouldn't be able to interact with it at all. So, yes, I think there will be more to unpack in later updates. I'd forgotten about the library! Since there always seem to be monkeys hanging around the forest shrine, my guess is it has something to do with the orangutan character. Is it just me, or does he remind anyone else of King Louie from the Jungle Book movie? Maybe the forest island is the place we go for the tree planting festival? 🤔 I'm also still curious about the polluted ocean current! (Unless that's already part of the game, and I don't know about it because I have been waiting for the full game release to play it...) Maybe it's going to be part of the mer kingdom updates?
Stairway seems to like surprising us, so I'm so excited to see what we'll discover at the release! I also downloaded the Spirit City demo and it seems so relaxing to have on in the background. Thank you so much for all you do, Sarah!
The shrines scattered throughout the island really make me think it has things to do with the Coral Three: Goddess of Flower, Merfolks, and Giants, but I don't know why it seems like that one shrine is not referring to the Merfolks? 😢 I hope we get to find out soon. I don't why some people would think the idea of Island Hopping is discarded or removed. The fact that it was the last and the highest kickstarter goal, as well as being shown in the museum already pretty much show that the devs haven't forgotten about that at all. Just because they don't list it on the 2024 roadmap, doesn't mean it's forgotten or ignored. It definitely feels to me that it's going to come much later maybe in 2025. The Island Visit also doesn't give me the idea that it's Island Hopping, definitely feels like a different thing to me, like early part of Multiplayer. I'm more surprised tho that there won't be any settlement in the Arctic Biome, especially when it feels like it's gonna be the most different. It would be such a big opportunity imo for the team not to introduce a unique cozy village and NPCs special to the freezing biome.
So glad Spirit City sponsored this video! I tried the game out because of your Next Fest video and I'm excited to follow the game when it fully releases
Great video!! Spirit City looks so cute as well love that they sponsored Crazy how much there still is to discover in Coral Island. So excited for the release next week
I know it's so crazy!! I love that we don't know everything!! Spirit City is super cozy and the small team behind it - delightful! Thanks so much Meredith!
I'm also really curious about the big rock next to Anne and Paul's house. I hope the map is getting an expansion some time in the future

My theory is that that will be the path that leads to the Savannah. Since it is on the same island, there has to be a walkable route to get there. Right now if you smash the rock, there is a dirt path that leads to nowhere.
I don’t know its a mystery or just I didn’t figured it out yet, but the altar on the cemetery says it’s missing something or stuff like that. We offer anything to the cemetery altar?
Honestly, with all the content already available, all that's coming with the 1.0 release and ALL that's being planned for next year, no one is going to have time for island hopping anyway I think it would be very wise of the team to push that way back, and like you said, space out introducing new islands. Hopefully that way they could also flesh out these islands and expand the stories there
The monkey temple is likely tied to the japanese three wise monkeys. The island has hints of those figures, and the giants kind of imitate them in statue form, but the giants are separate entities. Btw, did you catch how our character comes from Pokyo (Tokyo?) I know the game is by Indonesian devs, but they do love their japanese hints...
I hope since the update is soon that it will allow us to catch all the bugs cuz I can't still can't catch this one last stupid moth for one of the shrines
I don't think so. As each of the updates they have done over the past year, one did NOT need to start over. However, the 1.0 Release has changed so many details that it really is imperative that the playthrough works smoothly. This will be the foundational game and updates will just add content rather than the operation of the game.
This person was asking about AFTER the 1.0 release and the further updates. I don't believe that a restart will need to happen with those updates. ONLY AT 1.0@@asheirahs_nook
