Hi Deirdre, thanks for watching, hope you are well. Yes, the entrance we use is at the end of Calle Venus which is opposite the Sofia Restaurant at the end of Calle Careezo. There is a path with decent access to the shore of the lake.
Another great video as they keep me conected to the area when home. Had to return to Scotland on the 14th to ensure we had enough days to come over for our next six weeks from mid April onwards. Where is the best way to access the Lake from around the Mercadona area as we have a car?

The salt deposits were formed over a period in geological past called the The Great Messinian Salinity Crisis. There was a repeated cycle of the Straits of Gibraltar closing up, and then the Mediterranean would dry up, leaving layers of salt up to 30m thick. It would take about 1000 years to dry up, then the Atlantic would break through again and fill the Mediterranean back up, taking several hundred years , there was at least ten cycles of this.. The final breakthrough of the Atlantic was extremely violent , up to on million litres a water a minute roaring through, which carved a deep channel and prevented it closing up ever again.. The Spanish dont own the salt, it was sold to the French centuries ago.
