The fact that 84% of drinking water contains microplastics is TERRIFYING! Is there a way to filter out microplastics? Do we need to write to our city government about this problem? How do we work towards a solution?

Sadly going plastic free just got a little harder. Bulk Barn has suspended their re-usable jar program due to corona virus. There seems to be an assumption that covering everything in plastic is more sanitary? What are your thought?

I think people need to remember, that if you wash and dry properly, it's cleaner than any plastic in the world. It's soo dumb that they are trying to make the world worse with all the b.s plastic because of a virus. You take your time to clean and sanitize properly, without a ton of plastic, you're fine.

One time I told a group of people about receipts having bpa, and someone's response was "So don't lick it!" And everyone laughed. So I think there is misunderstanding out there about how BPA, along with other things, can enter our body... it's not just what we ingest. But on another note, I love your videos and thank you for always providing sources!

LOL. Yeah, I don't recommend licking them. It's crazy how it's absorbed through our skin.

@@cerid527 No worries! I didn't take it that way at all. I'm sure a lot of people don't understand that though because when you think about our skin absorbing things... it is kinda odd.

DIY tea bags are my solution *paper you know is just paper so eco friendly coffee filters or cupcake wraps *Tea *Some thread or twine you know is eco friendly -Make sure all materials involved are microwaveable in case you can’t put the tea back into the kettle and recoil it there.

Yeah. This is why I only do loose tea. Or, if I do buy bagged tea, it’s Celestial Seasonings. I can compost those.

Some stores no longer use BPA coated receipts. I found out because I was concerned about touching receipts all day as a cashier. Not sure about in the US but the store I used to work at here in Canada hasn't used BPA coated receipts in 5 years. A lot of customers would rant at me about our receipts and I'd have to have annoying repetitive conversations about this. You could always ask the store if their receipts are BPA coated or not.

Most of the ones that don't contain BPA contain BPS which is just as harmful. Hardly anyone uses plain paper receipts anymore. Since our receipts are printed with thermal imaging tech ut means they're most likely plastic.

I spoke with Luke (the non-aluminum and non-baking soda deodorant), and they have wet wipes for like wiping down after working out or when you can't take a shower. They are biodegradable and the packaging is recycable. They are flushable, but even water treatment plants say to not flush any wipes down the toilet.

Don't work out. Sporting works best at a lower metabolism if you don't sweat ;)

I had no idea about the receipts containing BPA but while doing some research I found out about teabags and coffee cups. I also didn't know about the menstrual products containing four plastic bags worth of plastic. That's unbelievable how much plastic is menstrual products that shouldn't be there! Thank you so much for making this video it was very helpful!!

Did not know about the receipts, I guess it is the heat-transfer ones that are bad, you also have printed ones with an ink-lint or mini-inkjet-printer. Best solution is to make a photo with your phone and an app like Office Lens for waranty items and leave all receipts at the counter. Most shops today even don't mind if you have a receipt, they simply look it up in their computer, if you can hand over a bank transaction when things need repair/replacement. Plastic teabags? Seriously? I only know Lipton for using it, and their tea tastes like flower fragances anyway, all other teabags are paper. Must be a huge EU/US difference.

I‘ve just finished my first exam and we were not allowed to bring reusable bottles. I‘ve drank out of two plastic bottles and I feel nauseous already. Any tips for this? My anti-nausea medicine is packed in plastic, too :/

Do you get your medication in those plastic films or in a bottle? My pharmacy takes back the bottles for recycling along with any leftover medication do it's best to check with them

Plastic sickens me. As helpful as this video is, the only really solution is national legislation. Obviously there are a lot of uses where getting rid of plastic would be untenable, but we need serious legislation to limit plastic usage to the bear minimum.
