Natlan is much more vibrant than I imagined

i really thought Natlan was gonna be a war ravaged nation, smoke filled skies, lava pools everywhere, and overall not much sun. i really wasn’t expecting this

There's a NPC sailor in Fontaine, i don't remember his name but i remember how he talks about his lover or something, and she's from one of the tribes in Natlan. He mentions that each tribe in Natlan has their own rules and customs.

Natlan is so much more amazing than I imagined. I was thinking some more dull jungle and volcanic wastlands here and there, but the raised plateaus and streams look so beautiful. Can't believe I almost took a break prior to Fontaine back then because I thought it was just gonna be similar to Mondstadt terrain. Natlan might be the most unique region we've seen so far

I love those graffitis, they look so fresh to the world of game and yet it blends well in this enviroment

I can understand why some people didn't like it. You expect blood, ashes and lava from Nation of war, pyro region, but.. 1 - it's just expectations. 2 - we haven't seen other parts of Natlan yet. 3 - Genshin's story can be dark and serious even with cute and bright look. Personaly I liked it, maybe because I was the one who expected "just ashes and lava" 😅

I’m gonna presume the 6 symbols are the six saurian we can control. However I think only 3 will be available at 5.0. Later down the line we get the other three.

The red dragon at the end looks similar to the top left symbol from the circle at the beginning, so it's probably also a type of Saurian that we can travel with!

I like the fact that saurians are dinosaur like, cause the asteroid that's theorized to cause dinosaur extinction fell in what's now Mexico, which is one of the nations Natlan is based of Also, Im pretty sure that the "tepetl" in tepetlisauri is form the word tepetl in Nahuatl (an indigenous language in Mexico) that means mountain or hill, so maybe all the other saurians have names with a nahuatl word corresponding to their element

I'm more hyped for a Natlan NPC instead of a playable character. It's been 4 years and we haven't seen even one!

just speculating but what if that big flying red dragon works somewhat like how antoine roger aircraft in fontaine do, we can board them from certain places and then they help us reach certain destinations

First part of the map probably just showing the vibrant and welcoming part of the Natlan, since every major version the traveller will travel to the cities first. Hoping the map of Natlan can be as big and expansive as Sumeru, and having multiple levels of landscapes as Fontaine (maybe a dangerous and dark volvanic underground area too)?

Here's some thing that I noticed. All of the saurians that we see contain some traces of pyro. When the geo one dives in the ground, it splashes some pyro into the ground it swims through, texturing the ground into an orangey and molten color. The hydro one has some bits orangey color in the crevices of it's blue skin too, and can even dive in lava, not just water. The green one, probably dendro, related to our terrorshroom friend has some orangey color to their overall design: the inside of it's mouth, it's long rope-like ability, and the round thing that it grabbed. Maybe that orange thing sealed inside that blue round stone is infused with pyro, and provides the saurian with energy to jump in the air. Lastly, that flying thing we saw at the end, it looks like it will be one of the 6 saurians too, like the three we were just shown. Maybe that'll be anemo, since anemo loved to swirl and absorb the element it's infused with and retain their color. Making it look red-orange instead of the typical color coded design an element is designated to. Basically, we will have all the elements as saurian companions in natlan, only except for pyro. Since pyro is present within all of them, and is the main theme for the region of pyro. Fitting because we'll have 6 pyro infused saurians in the 6th region so far. Unless we get it as a special saurian after the story? Could it be that we get it from the pyro sovereign or xbalanque, and receive a pure pyro saurian companion?(maybe we might even have the pyro sovereign as our companion!)

I think the way the Saurian will work is that we will walk up to them, press T or F or something and we will possess them in a certain radius around where they spawn. Sorush combined with Fontemer Aberrants, if you will.

It's looking like natlan is taking inspiration from monster hunter stories with how the bonds and utility between the saurians and humans works

There’s actually a purple hot air balloon in the background of the final shot, you can just see it under the Dendro Saurian when the camera is facing its side.

We are SO CLOSE to seeing whether Mare Jivari is really that dangerous (mentioned in Venti’s story quest along with other NPC’s)

I have faith natlan will be amazing. A teaser can only reveal so much....when fontaine was revealed we had no idea it was gonna be such an amazing area as it was. places like petrichor, the faded castle, central lab ruins, the picturesque cottage in the narcizzenkreuz quest, weeping willow of the lake...no one knew all that was explorable. Give them time to beautifully craft this new region and we will all be loving it in about 3 months

I thought natlan was gonna be pure war zone but omg it's the most vibrant region ive seen so far, Celestia is probably going to be the most vibrant

i keep seeing people say natlan is more vibrant than they thought but we have actually had a few teasers already of what natlan looks like in the past. not only that but this region could very well be a chunk that isn't affected by the constant war.

Mr Cat, there's an on going event right now in game that an NPC which is the host of the EVENT talks about Natlan and its people, why people don't go to other nations, About The Tribe of Echoes which is one of the tribes of Natlan and the Saurians. The Event name is "Specially-Shaped Saurian Search" where you kille pyro regisvine, geovishap, the dendro ostrich in Sumeru and the Sea Horse Electro type in Fontaine.

All Sumeru Desert 100% exploration. that's dedication right there.

I was kind of expecting Natlan to look like a wasteland hellscape and I'd have been content with it, but it looks GORGEOUS! I cannot wait to explore it! Exploring is one of my favourite activities in Genshin (My whole map is like 100% maxed) and I had so much fun with Fontaine, I'm hyped to see what the Natlan environment has in store!

The trailer actually shows 4 Saurians. Geo, Hydro, Pyro, Dendro. That would match up (sort of) with the Saurian Search event.

Now I see grafiti almost at every frame, cool! Thank you! And the idea about the skull call for some tragic stories, as in all last regions.

Considering we didn't get many hints or teasers of Natlan until *very* recently, We're about to have a field day. Since we know almost next to nothing about the nature of it's locale and culture. (Unlike how we did with Fontaine and we currently do now with Snezhnaya)

There are rumors that Natlan will incorporate some sort of "vertical landscape design" with "several layers", such that while it will not be something we see in Sumeru (since its layered structure is not well-received by quite a lot of players), it will take on another path similar to that but different. So my guess is that it will have at least 3 layers of map in Natlan: One on the ground that we see at the end of the teaser, one underground where most of the lava and volcano stuff will be located, and one above the ground (probably floating in the sky) where we see the water(?) Saurian swimming with all the floating structures.

If i were to guess based on how the areas look like, natlan will span an area west of the desert up until as far north as fontaine or as far south as the northern most region of inazuma. Some of the areas seem to be a bit more temperate. Hence why i anticipate a decent north to south location

I think there's been a lore text somewhere saying that natlan is directly west from sumeru desert too

We are getting the 3 shown saurian , and with new zone expansions we'll get new ones

I think those saurians are mounts, as mentioned in some rumors about Natlan. They just made the player character invisible to not spoil the whole thing.

Probably those saurians will be the mounts of Natlan. Just thinking of riding them to travel makes me so excited ❤

To be honest as a Mexican Im so happy bc Natlan is mostly inspired in Mexico Im so happy this is diverse just like Mexico as in fact it is a megadiverse country I think it is like in 6th place or smth lolz :D and I liver in the capital I can confirm there are los of grafitti of all kinds even tho the last part looks more like Grand Canyon than Mexico

While there are 6 tribes and it's very possible that the Saurian types line up with them, the 6 icons at the start are very clearly not tribe logos. They are Saurian logos. That's why it shows us specifically 3 of them and then shows the 3 corresponding Saurians. They even highlight an icon specifically showing a drill Saurian symbol before zooming in and transitioning to the drill Saurian.

Also I noticed there were massive bones laying around on the land, I saw it on the dendro saurian part

In the large pan out with the green dragon & that one flying you can very faintly make out the shape of a shrine of depths like bottom/centre of the shot, for those that doubt this is genshin 😅

I imagine the six icons also correlate with the type of saurian ride mounts we'll be able to use in Natlan! I'm curious if we can only use each suarian mount in their respective sub-regions, or if we'll be able to unlock and use all suarians all over natlan, as opposed to them being like the fontemer aborrants, which can only be used in fontaine's underwater areas, and only applicable in certain areas (besides the one that can be used above the water through a mechanism). Also I hope to the gods of teyvat that Natlan npcs have some variations in skin tones, cause Sumeru was rough 😭

I think the Lava with unique coloring is the primal fire that the Xbalanque is the one entombed with. Maybe a descender of the dragon race, maybe a prince like Scylla (he's likely not the pyro dragon)

Looking a the diving region it looks like some kind of story quest area. Also small theory, the lava in the trailer looks like it's mixed with some kind of elemental power, or some kind of elemental power is coming from somewhere under the lava. Looking at the dragon what if it lives here?

Imagine shapeshifting as a new character system for some natlan characters. Like how they create bond of life for fontaine. Theres atleast a new mechanic for some characters there.

Of the 6 icons at the start we are shown 4 with 3 of them showcasing their mechanics The last one is the flying red dinosaur like which takes the north west icon that looks like a phoenix being red indicate it being pyro of course flying is an anemo thing while we see geo go underground dendro jumping like spiderman the mantaray swims in both water and lava

I liked the landscape! I'm honestly so curious about what's gonna happen since we have so little info about Natlan. Also, maybe Hoyo could get a little more creative for characters' skin tones since Natlan is colorful and diverse. I wonder if they actually have the balls to do it (they don't. it's just a dream of mine)

i'm actually so excited for natlan, they have taken literally the exact opposite of what i imagined it to look like and i'm so happy. i wanted to be shocked and i am. natlan is so going to become one of my favourite regions.

I think that, we did not see any natlan npc at the moment simply because, as Neuvillete says, natlanians are in fact semi-dragons, may be those saurians are actual natlans dragon forms?

The music reminds me of Trials of Mana or original Seiken Densetsu 3. Especially the ost name "Few Paths Forbidden" and "Powell" from remake Trials of Mana.

that's what I really like about GI story. it feel like hoyo already know how the story goes and how the end of the story just like some great mangaka.

I hope natlan allows us to see whole desert on the south. im just waiting for port ormos to be connected by sea to everything else

<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="60">1:00</a> Types of Saurians seem much more likely to me, cause the three that lit up align perfectly with the three Saurian species they showcased both in terms of element and symbolic appearance, and the flying dragon thing at the end could be one of the three symbols that are left out. Wouldn't be surprised if each tribe had one Saurian species that they are especially close with though.
