she's right. my sis laughs at me when I buy hair oils. she uses cheap shampoo and conditioner, grease, and hair loc butter when she does twist-outs.. and her fro is so big people think it's a wig. I am going back to grease
Just a reminder: 1. Don’t put oil on before or after grease 2. Don’t mix oils into your grease - it dilutes the original formula 3. Don’t keep applying grease to hair and scalp - you’re causing build up 4. Don’t mix your greases - use one grease for your hair and one for your scalp if necessary 5. Don’t comb or manipulate your hair after you washed, applied grease and styled. It’s going to be dry and brittle.

Must mention that my mum used grease in her hair her enter life using the old fashion methods. even now and her hair never breaks using Blue Magic...it always grew long.but I kept on following new ideas & products and that's why Im now experiencing hair growth problems. One clarification that is needed is about using Head and Shoulders...I skip this step because I do not need it. To be honest, I will sometimes co-wash because I like the formula of As I Am, or I will use a clay wash, Or I will use Smooth as Silk Deep Moisture shampoo. The reason I use henna or clays is because I have Grey hair. I honestly don't think it matters which shampoo, as long as it is not too harsh on the hair strands...but that works for me, lol! But you have good advice about choosing to use grease or oil. Thank you!
Oils have really made my hair flourish, and is so beneficial for my scalp, and use a leave in and mango butter as a sealant, with only natural African soap shampoo ( Ecoslay), and there deep conditioner ( natural ), which acts as a leave in.
I don’t think grease breaks hair off I think manipulating dry textured hair period breaks it off. You should be only manipulating, styling, sealing wet hair and if it’s dry a week later just wash it to start over. Adding products to dry hair just makes the oils sit on top of the hair and contributes to product buildup that isn’t helping your cause.

When was a kid my mom was only using grease on my and my sisters hair, and we always had long hair, I grew up and used quimicals, my hair was pasting weasting lengh, and using grease, massaging almost everyday, I did big chop 2 years ago and on my shoulders now (for me is even taking long to grow this time) i tried shea butter, but i feel like keeps my hair dry in shot period of time, than decided to go back to my old ways and I am seeing quick improvement. I just found your videos and I've been trying them for a month now. I noticed the bigger my twist are the more moisture my hair has. smaller twist might make your hair dry out faster. I also heard in humid weather grease will actually pull moister out of your hair. instead use Shea butter. I won't be able to experiment until summer comes but so far doing your regimen I have less breakage and that's a plus for me🎉

Oil is beneficial but not for what most people are using it for oils do nothing for your hair strand except condition in this regard you are correct however oils can be beneficial for overall scalp health if you are applying the oil to the scalp directly as nutrients can be absorbed topically through the skin and the scalp is the skin however she is correct the best way to get nutrients into your body is to eat them.

I have been using grease , l was trying using grease and water and l love how my hair is feeling like, but when l want to deep condition l first use warm to hot water to remove the grease or even wash it with hemp soap to remove the grease, cause l believe that the grease will prevent moisture from getting in .l also use grease on my daughter’s hair, it’s flourishing, thanks hunny your tips are helping me a lot. Second or Third Day:- 1) On the 2nd or 3rd day or when you feel the first itch. Wet/rinse hair with hot water, then put a plastic bag on your head for about an hour or more to soften up the grease 2)Rinse hair again then apply grease to wet sectioned hair and twist. Continue with this step for the month. This means you only shampoo your hair once in the month? & just rinse with hot water the other days and follow up with grease. OR You use head & shoulders 1 x for the month with the moisturising shampoo. Then every 2 or 3rd days softened hair with hot water. Then use a moisturising shampoo rinse and follow up with grease. I started using grease on my teomson hair. They are biracial and have 2c-3a hair and hair grease even works for them. My youngest scalp used to icych from all the natural hair products I used and he scratched his head so bad he got a sore. I put the coconut oil Blue Magic hair grease on that area and in a few days it healed and he stopped scratching his scalp. So now I wash, apply a leave in, apply a light layer of grease and braid it down. Works wonders. I love wash n gos so I'm trying to find a way to add grease onto my regimen while using less products.
I love it, I see a difference in just one week! I'm glad I saw this video because I was re-wetting my hair and adding more grease to my scalp and hair. I did notice a lot of hair in my come, it was breaking because I was not washing the grease out and was just wetting my hair again with water from the spray bottle then putting more grease on my hair, you are right that was a big mistake, I will not do that again. From now on I will be washing the grease out with hot water, shampoo with my moisturizing shampoo, bag for 30 minutes, then apply the grease. Hi! Just as an FYI, the bag should be used prior to shampooing. Rinse hair with hot water, apply bag for about 30 minutes or so, rinse, and then shampoo. Rinse shampoo out, apply grease to sectioned hair and then twist up. I am from Clarksdale (the Delta). 💕

Oh no. 😢 That's going to cause buildup. Based on MM's instruction, when you start to feel that first itch after using grease, that's your sign to moisturize again by washing the hair and scalp. Keeping it clean is the MM motto. You only rinse and reapply without washing when you use oils. If you use grease you have to wash it out every 2-3 days and reapply it again. Head and shoulders only on the scalp and your moisturizing shampoo on the hair then you follow-up with your grease or oil. Right MM?😇

What is the purpose of using the grease? To seal in moisture to prevent the hair from becoming dry and brittle which will cause breakage? Do you massage the grease you use into your scalp? In general hair growth comes from retaining length, and it takes an average of 4yrs of caring for your hair before you will see the desired length.
MM, I don't know if I asked you this before, but have you used Blue Magic Indian Hemp grease? I bought CD pomeade and it has CORN OIL in it....I have had this grease for 2 years?? I am researching corn oil in grease. It seems to be okay for me, but once I am done, I will try the one you have. I have not used that in years...What I wrestle with is wanting to use something nourishing for my scalp, and I don't thing that BM grease is nourishing for my scalp?? I think it is good for sealing and that is all. But at least my scalp is not inflamed like it was back in the day. Sometimes even oils itch my scalp. So I only use the oils as needed. I don't use grease and oil together on my strands. I may use oil on my scalp, and then grease my strands though... You want to know a dumb thing that I did a few years ago with the dandruff shampoo? This was when I struggled with dandruff, and it was probably due to build-up on my scalp...thanks to listening to you and others about grease. Well, I mixed Jason's anti-dandruff shampoo with Giovanni's anti-dandruff shampoo, and talk about scalp on fire! Whoa! Good thing I had Sulphur - 8 grease to calm it down. Also, your scalp does not need to be nourished, it needs to be moisturized and conditioned because the shampoo's strip away the sebum. All the nourishment takes place within the body.... from the inside out.

Hi! I only detangle on wash day when the shampoo is in my hair. I do it really quick too! Meaning, the goal is not to remove all (if any) tangles, but more so just uniform the hair to flow downward.
My hair is 21 inches. As a child my mom never put no oil in my hair just the grease after she washed it. I see now they mix grease but I never did that,and I dont mix grease for my grandkids because I no better
Mrs. Mississippi I love your videos! This concept may work for you because you wash your hair frequently. How could this work for someone like me? I wash me and my daughters hair every 2 weeks. I can keep our hair moisturized for 4 to 5 days with my current regimen (no hair grease). But with using hair grease I wouldn't be able to do this. Why? Because I would not be able to re-introduce water to the hair unless I washed it and started all over. I like your concept, but I just cannot figure out how it would work for me.
I love this video but I have a question, I wear braids most of the time for a month or two. How do I keep my hair moisturized during this time if I shouldn't reapply grease?

Wow! You caught me! I was going to add just a little tea tree oil in that grease because my scalp itch. Okay, I wont do it...lol Daaag, you caught me again, I was going to mix Sulfur 8 & Blue Magic.....lol That scarf though...luv it.
I actually found not applying anything to my scalp has helped it tremendously. Applying it to my strands is sufficient enough. My scalp feels 💯 percent better. No itching, soreness or irritation. I'm sure what's on my strands gets on my scalp & that is enough. I use a leave in & blue magic. My scalp & hair is doing well 11 months natural yesterday. So proud after many many years of relaxing. So proud.....thank you for bringing the 411 on grease....very good.

Is it ok to prepoo with one grease before washing and then after washing use a different grease? Sometimes some grease get discontinued or are difficult to find. Other times, I just have grease I gotta use up and get rid of.

Use a deep conditioner after shampooing & when u rinse it out use cool water. Also don’t shampoo with super hot water it will just dry your hair out, use lukewarm water. Then after that u can go in with your favorite leave in and seal with grease, the moisture will last a lot longer this way.

Glad to be coming back to it and would love to be able to figure out how to make it work for my hair. I’ve been watching your videos and I really appreciate you. I just cannot figure out the wash routine. Do you always wash your hair in the sink? Washing 1 twist at a time? Do you ever wash it in the shower? If so would you please do a wash day routine for in the shower? I was confused about the head and shoulders shampoo and the moisturizing shampoo? Hi! It’s hard to say because I don’t know the full details. It depends on wash day routine prior to putting in the braids, products, how long you plan to wear your protective style, etc.
Again, great video. I was looking through comments before asking. The product labeling suggest daily use on hair and scalp. I wash my hair once a week but spritz my scalp every other day and apply oil or grease to my scalp because its too dry. Would you suggest just washing my hair every three days, concentrating on my scalp with Head & Shoulders as opposed to once a week with scalp oiling every other day?.
Hi! If you spritz your scalp every other day with water, grease or oil should not be used on the scalp. The oil and grease prevents the water from touching the scalp; therefore, causes the scalp to dry out. Consistently applying the oil to the scalp can be the reason your scalp is so dry. I wash my hair often to rid of the grease, which allow my hair and scalp to obtain the moisture from the water. I reapply the grease to seal in that "new" moisture. It's like resetting the moisture and grease.

I tried the green blu magic it lengthened my hair can I use the blue color next time I thought the green really lengthened my coils and strengthened them but I don’t want it to be to strong and break can that happen ? Thank you for the no manipulation tip until next 3 days washing with hot water and re moisturizing I won’t touch it ! Also if I just did your wash routine can I leave the hair for two weeks just rinsing with water in between and then two weeks from now wash and grease ?? If I wait that long with out putting grease in it again what will happen if I only rinse it ?

Hi! No, you shouldn't spray water because the water can not penetrate the grease. The water will cause the grease to congeal and harden which can lead to breakage. The goal is to wash every 2 to 3 days, but lately I have been washing every 5 days. I wait until my scalp itches and then i know it's time to wash. My scalp started itching within like 3 days but in winter you dont want to go out after washing your head so every five days will work for me....i have braids in and it got dry i put water then a moisturizer over it. Next time ill apply a better amount of grease like you mentioned.

So far i tried only one type of grease. Theres still the blue, green and Indian hemp......to see what worke the best I also after 3 days will spray a leave in conditioner and then a moisturizer then wash day after 5 days:)
