PS4 is almost ten - it first arrived on November 15 2013, so next week marks ten years of PlayStation 4 magnificence. What better time than to gather PS4’s biggest cheerleaders - the PlayStation Access gang - and relive the memories that defined the console. From the epic PS4 launch to the games that transformed our gaming lives, these are the times PS4 absolutely blew us away.
We’re kicking off our celebration of the PS4 anniversary with this walk down memory lane. Rob remembers the unveiling at E3 and how he dressed as Octodad at the PlayStation 4 launch. Rosie recalls The Last Guardian - a game with a deep emotional bond. Dave makes the case for another iconic PS4 game - Bloodborne. The discovery that kicked off Platinum Trophy mania in the Access team. And then along comes Nathan with two moments - the amazing PS4 games that bookended his PS4 experience.
These are our best PS4 moments, but what defines the console for you? Was it the moment you first brought it home and unwrapped your gleaming bundle of joy? Was it a particular game that transformed the way you think about interactive entertainment? Maybe it was just marvelling at the glowing PS4 controller. Either way, why not share your best PS4 experience or memory in the comments below. And make sure you subscribe to PlayStation Access for even more PS4 celebrations over the coming week…
And if you want to remind yourself of the best of PS4, why not rewatch our video on the best games on PS4: • Top 10 Best PS4 Exclus...

uncharted 4 blew me away, the graphics to this day are some of the best I’ve seen. The part when you’re jumping across jeeps pulling people out of them and then flying across a bridge through the water was insane.

I got my PS4 in 2016, and it included Arkham Knight and Last of us remastered. I still vividly recall the 1st time you summon the batmobile I was just astounded at what I was seeing. So many memories of Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War, Spider -Man. During the lockdown of 2020 I spent so much time playing Borderlands 3 and I think that helped keep my sane as I met fellow players on Reddit and discord.

The library of the 4 is so amazing. The fact that I'm still going through my backlog and discovering more and more hidden gems along the way is why I'll always love the 4 and will still be playing it for years to come. Rosie, your entry really spoke to me. I have very recently lost my 17 years old dachshund, Siggy. Even as he was getting older and slept most of the day, he would curl up next to me on the couch with his head on my lap while I played. I remember playing Dark Souls III and having to keep the rage in check because I didnt want to wake him up 😂 Anyway, I am a long time lurker and never comment, but I really felt the need this time. PS4 is the reason I’m a gamer. Before PS4 I only played like 1 or 2 games over and over. I didn’t follow any gaming media, I didn’t look forward to the newest releases. The first game I played on ps4 was Arkham Knight and I was in actual disbelief at how good it was. I didn’t think a game like this could exist. Then I played games like Uncharted 4, God of War, Spider-Man. All of these games made PS4 and unforgettable experience. Never have I been so into gaming and into a console generation. I was forever hooked on gaming after that and couldn’t be more hyped to see the PS5 revealed and now have my hands on that.

My favorite PS4 memory has to be getting the PS4 itself on Christmas 2014, it felt like I waited the whole year to get it and once I unpacked it and set it up in front of my family it was just an unique memory. Destiny is a big part of that memory and I was so hooked up to it. Happy PS4 Anniversary!

My favorite memory was when I first unboxed it with my parents that summer in 2017.... I pulled it out of the box and we all looked at it in awe... then I remember how I was so excited while hooking it up.... then we were all captivated by GTA V's gameplay...so realistic....my parents were especially blown away by the realism.... another memory was when my mom sat down with me and we both played through the intro of RDR2.... she then got up to do something but she then asked me whether Arthur and the gang managed to get out of the storm😂....ah good old PS4

Seeing young Mr Pearson with hair, seeing Holly again made me realise just how long i have been a subscriber to your terrific channel. With the line up changes you have always brought in people passionate & entertaining be it Elle & then Rosie & now Ash who i imagine Dave was happy to discover, adores horror games & also how entertaining Dave is being tortured by that genre. I also remember Dan & his love of the Phantom Menace on PS1. So many great people including Nath who stepped behind the screen. I loved my PS4, so many memories from great games like Uncharted 4, Witcher 3, Horizon Zero Dawn, Death Stranding, GOT, AC Origins, Persona 5, Resi 2 remake, Yakuza 0, Doom, RDR2, Dying Light. So many great games, a great new controller going from the PS3 even if the new touch pad became under utilised fairly quickly. Great segment guys, i look forward to the PS5 equivalent when PS6 launches in 2029.

for me it was Uncharted 4, it was the game that got my parents to sit down and watch me play from the beginning to the end of the game. This video made me realise our little friend Astro has been my introduction to 2 consoles now! I got my PS4 in early November 2014, nearly a year after launch, and while I awaited the installation of the games that came with it (TLOU remaster, COD Advanced Warfare, and Destiny) I faffed about with the Playroom! And got a fuller experience with the character in PS5's Astro's Playroom on PS5 launch day while those games (Demon's Souls, Miles Morales, AC Valhalla) installed. Can't believe it's basically 3 years since PS5 too.

I have to agree with Dave. I always tried to play Soulsborne games, but could never get far. The farthest I ever got was killing the Abyss Watchers in DSIII/up to Sif in the original. Then I played Elden Ring and beat Godrick but accidentally went to Calid and quit again! A few months later I came back and not inly beat the game, but got the platinum! That made me finally feel confident enough to retry Bloodborne, and I platinumed THAT game too. Then in the same month as those two, I platinumed Sekiro. Then this year, I Platinumed the remaining 4 games and I loved them! Can’t wait for Shadow of the Erdtree!

I came to PS4 in October 2014, so I was a little late to the party. I was coming home one day after work and just decided to go into Asda to see if they had one, and they did. So I bought it, rushed home and tried justifying the purchase to my then-boyfriend over text. The first game I played was Infamous: Second Son and it blew me away. Then-boyfriend sold my PS4 four years later with my permission and I didn't come back to PlayStation until the PS5 came out and I've been playing some of the PS4 games I've missed during those two years away. I'm so glad I came back. 😊

The PS4 started my love for trophy hunting, which made me finish and apprechiate a lot of games. Until Dawn was the perfect game to start my trophy curiosity. Most games, I have played on the PS4. The controller is still my favourite. I love my Firewatch theme. It is so calming. I miss it on my PS5. Of course, Bloodborne is THE game. I remember seeing it for free on PS4. And I was so terrified of playing it. What if I wasn’t good enough? What if I couldn’t git gud? I struggled with equiping a weapon and with many bosses, but eventually I beat it. I even bought and played the DLC, because I couldn’t get enough of it. PS4 is my favorite console to date.

I wasn't as much of a gamer during the PS3 era, I think it was only the beginning of 2012 that I was starting to get into console games again because a flatmate I moved in with had a PS3. Still, I preordered a PS4 and was so entranced by the beginning of Infamous: Second Son. Just the atmosphere and vibes from the very beginning of that game sucked me in and I really loved my entire time with that game. As soon as I finished my first playthrough I just had to play it again. Which is a really scarce thing for me. It even ended up being the first time I went for a platinum trophy, something which had previously had no appeal at all for me. It was like reliving the magic of when I got a PS2 as a teenager.

I’ve really missed the Tuesday Checklist format, I hope it returns as a regular feature (on the Wednesday of course)

Mine would also be associated with Bloodborne. It was the first time ever playing a Fromsoftware game. The first time I was completely owned by a game. The first time (and only time) I ever took a game back to gamestop because it was "too hard". I found out later that I spent about five to six hours in the first ten minutes of the game!! Needless to say, I didn't know wtf I was doing. Fast forward a year I'm still salty so I give it another go. Best Platinum trophy I have ever earned!!!

A subtle but superb business move by Nath by pointing out the company's other major client with the Netflix mention late in the video

Many great memories, but for me Horizon Zero Dawn will always be my chart topping PS4 game.

Y'all should do some more retrospective videos like this but for older PlayStation consoles, would love to see more PS3 & Vita/PSP stuff

I've been gaming for a long time. I felt the golden age of gaming when I played Bloodborne and he Witcher 3 back o back knowing nothing about either games prior. As for he hardware, the share button is amazing since we all had that amazing gameplay moment we wish it was recorded. We could finally do that now.

Definitely the opening of Ghosts Of Tsushima for me. It was one of the final jaw-dropping moments from that wonderful console.
