1. Have a strong why | 2. start to settle down early | 3. Put alarm far away from the bed | 4. Have clothes ready in the morning | 5. go to sleep early
Great tips. Luckily I have been on pension since end of April last year. So I no longer or seldom need to wake up to an alarm. Find in the Swiss winter, I sleep deeper and later in the morning. But as from Spring it is another story. Up at the crack of dawn to go on a lake cruise, hiking or perhaps do a daytrip to France or Germany for say an art exhibition, visit one of the castle gardens or do a bit of shopping. Love your channel name as it suits you so well. A pretty charming Irish lady with a pleasant voice to listen to. All the best from Zurich - CH.
I started getting up at 5 a.m. every day about 4 years ago and it has been so good for me! I enjoy the quiet of the home and the day coming to life peacefully. Such a good habit!
I like the tip for leaving a note by your bedside with what you want to acomplish in those early hours. I already get up pretty early and love not being rushed to get out the door, but feel like I would benefit from the gentle reminder so that I make the best use of the time. Thanks for another great video!
I have been getting up in the wee hours of the morning for years now. I love the uninterrupted time to myself. There is no pressure to be busy, and thereby risk waking the whole household. I gather my thoughts, and simply listen to my own heart.
I started getting up between 4:30-5am when I moved back to the South Bay in LA County CA. It was for the quiet-comparative, of course, as no city is ever really quiet. I found I needed that space of time before work to myself, before I loaned it out to an employer. Now that I am here in a one forest in Montana, I find I still love to rise this early and just be part of the day starting while all around me this small town is sleeping. Time for prayer, for reading, for connecting to this journey. Thank you for your videos-they are chock full of loveliness.
Waking up with the sun is wonderful. It is hard with a spouse at times, but if you can sneak out of the bedroom and move freely around the house this works. Great reminder to sneak out and get more done during the day. 😌 Thank you 🙏🏼
I did a new thing this past winter and I found it really helped ... I stopped using an alarm clock. When I wake up after 4 am I get up. So some days it is 4:01 and some days it is 5:20. I love having the time to do yoga, meditate, journal etc. but I wanted to also learn how to really listen to my body and honour what it needs. Very lovely video and I love your channel!
This came to me at just the right time! For almost half a year I've been working nights, not getting to sleep until 8am at the latest, and my body's rhythm is totally opposite to "normal" schedules. However, next month I'll be starting at a "normal" schedule job, so I'm beginning to get my body ready to completely flip flop. It was easier getting used to nights because I just drank a ton of caffeine to train myself to stay up later and later, but now I basically have to allow myself to get as tired as I can handle during the day so that my body wants to go to bed in the night instead. I really liked being awake for the tranquility of pre-sunrise, so I look forward to incorporating an earlier rising to still get that early morning peace in my day! Beautiful video as always!
Kathryn Matthews hi Kathryn, I did nights too yearS ago. They take their toil on the body so you should feel great getting into a regular routine. Let me know how you get on... You body may take time to readjust
I notice so many hindu gods picture at your home ...even your cellphone wallpaper is lord jagannath 😍 this is sooooo touching... Lots of love from India
Very good tips. I agree with all. One tipp additional from my side. I have a automatic light control in my bedroom which simulates a sunrise, so I usually wake up because of the light and I do not need an extra alarm clock.
I watched this last week and now on week 2 of 5am starts. I have totally felt the benefits! Calm, feel more productive and I get time to myself... along with getting jobs done before I even have to think about work. Thank you! X
alternatively as a bus driver: i'm back on the 03:45 alarm call tomorrow. I probably take the occasional barista to work and every few weeks I probably take her home from a night out.
Great tips………but I worked 30 yrs at a telecommunications company so I am usually up by 7:15 a/m enjoying coffee & meditation. (USA in Kentucky!) 🤗🤗 Love your videos.
Getting up earlier is something I really want to do again. I used to be an early riser, well, at least in summer ... I do find it hard in winters though. An important point you mention in your video is having a plan or to-do-list ready for the next morning. Great idea! Thank you much for sharing. God bless you!
I have been following your channel for quite sometime now and I wonder how did i miss this video? This video is so different from others as we are so used to your meditative voice and here we get to hear the energetic side of your voice. Great as usual. Thanks a bunch.
I'm to bed at 8pm and up at 4am every single day for decades. Its my natural sleep pattern. I can't imagine sleeping til even 5am. I would be brain dead getting up that late. LOL. We are all different. My entire work day is done by 9am.....then I am on my own to do as I will. I just found your wonderful channel, and subbed. You are awesome!
Apsara A ah nice routine you have. I love having so much time in the day. It really is about bed early isn’t it. Glad you found the channel and thanks for subscribing x
Danille Sindac early to bed is the absolute key and having a strong why to get up :-) also make sure to be kind to yourself. If you don’t get up. One day you just will.
If you would be doing it so that you do some yoga, enjoy breakfast, have a light morning cleaning routine, feed the chickens, pick a flower...it wouldn't be that bad. Most of the youtubers I've seen happy to wake up at 5 work from home.
@@iradogaru2114 exactly. It all depends what you wake up for/to. Yoga or standing in the cold rain/wind on a tram stop (let alone being said tram's driver who had to get up at 3-4 am to start driving that tram at 5 am......). And where. In the latitudes where the sun doesn't rise until 8-9 or even later, 5 am is really a torture. Attitude is important but unless you are a Buddhist monk there is only that much you can do with the things that objectively suck.
It used to be for me as well. But as soon as I started changing my mindset I realized what a privilege it is to witness sunrise while everyone else is sleeping
@@jayalexander6798 I am right there with you!!! I am retired now after a lifetime of shift work that changed sometimes weekly! so If I dont have to be up for work I sleep until I wake on my own, I dont have to get up at the crack of dark to get work done, because that is what they are doing and in this video she has a list to accomplish and I am a die hard night owl! I am wide awake at midnight to 4a.m so that is when I putter around house and do whatever.
@@chrisfry436 Research has suggested that about 20% of the population are true night owls. It must be really difficult to fit in with a day job if this isn't your natural circadian rhythm. I appreciate that you are now retired but I think the advice for anyone else out there is to find a job that fits around them better. I'm a true early bird so I'm not sure why I was even watching this haha! I am up between 4am and 6am every morning with no alarm, however, I lean more towards the 4am. Some mornings it's even earlier although that does become a problem after a while because I get too tired.
Not a morning person & likely never will be BUT great video. Literally when I have to wake up early my senior, blind dog looks at me like ‘this is wrong. Stop it. We don’t do this’ and he legitimately huffs if I keep him up.
Thank you for these tips. I also love to get up early as I want to start my day calmly without rushing around. I meditate as soon as I get up, then I do some stretching, and wake my body up gently and then proceed with getting ready for my day. It’s well worth getting up early as it sets a good start to my day and I find I’m much more productive 😊
YA'LL!!!! i used to have a hard time waking up in the mornings and my mom and i have actually gotten into argument because i could never wake up on my own. that i was to old to be told to do so and i would honestly really struggle getting up. i am a very heavy sleeper. but this one app helped me so much!!!! its called Alarmy, the color of the app is a clock with a pink orange in the clock. the square of the app is white. you put your alarm, and where it says how to turn off the alarm, put the "take a picture" portion. you have to take a picture of something, and in order for you to turn off the alarm, you have to take a picture of said thing. what i have and recommend, is a picture of my bathroom sink. with the lights on. so when i wake up i have to turn on the lights and concentrate my camera to match the picture ive already taken. i use the restroom as soon as i get up anyways and it really helps!!!!!!
I am up at 5 am to have my me time. I knit and work on projects that take super focus. My six year old is a lot of energy so having my hour to really have alone time has helped my mood so much!
Thank you for this! I have a project deadline that is looming closer every day and this is a helpful reminder that getting up earlier will help me to accomplish this in a more balanced way. Have a wonderful week!!
I use all of your tips, plus I have this plumeria who needs constant care, and I do it in the morning as well, so when I come home after work it's nice and thriving. Meditation and yoga re a strong component of my daily life, and when I don't do them, it shows, trust me!
I rose between 3:30 to 4:00 am every weekday because I opened the office @ 5:30 am to accommodate staff & distribute paychecks. Often we tried to sleep until 6:00 am on weekend, but quickly discovered that deviating from norm was hard on the body. I did this for decades. Now we are self-employed & go to sleep & rise when we want. . .unfortunately our bodies & minds have adjusted to rising earlier. When we fight our routine sleep patterns, we become sluggish & tire more frequently throughout the day. Now, at age 65, my husband & I agree that your body adjusts to certain hours of sleep & it is best for both of us to rarely deviate. We both feel happier & more productive when we practice our normal sleep patterns. However our normal may be very different from yours! [P.S. We so enjoy your videos. Have you ever thought about narrating story books for all ages? You have an incredibly soothing voice.] Thanks for sharing your journey with us!
Thanks so much. I never knew my voice was soothing till doing this channel. I'd love to narrate children's books that sounds wonderful. Thank you also for sharing your story with me. I'm glad you and your husband have garnered a healthy sleep routine. It is vital for our healing and wellbeing. x
i liked the suggestion to clear our minds before we attempt to sleep. mundane chores have a place dont they ? all were useful and helpful ideas..thank you once again. !
Your videos are so helpful! I want to simplify my life and having a five minute video to watch when I get home from work is so helpful to motivate and remind me to just slow down.
I getup at 0430h just soI can have alone time to regroup before my kid wakes up... I now sleep right through the night instead of continuously waking up during the night. I light some candles & relax
Just curious about the wallpaper. It's very pretty. Were you Hare Krishna? It's just lovely. Getting up in the morning is something that is very difficult for me to do as well. Thanks for the tips.
Amanda W go for it! Let me know how you go. Remember bed early is the trick and knowing the ‘Why’ you’d be amazing at what early rising can give to your life :-)
This is a great video. I used to get up early for work but than when I didn't have to get up I stopped and now I have been getting up late and going to bed late. Sometimes I get anxiety about going to work the next day so I stay up late to avoid going to bed. Do you recommend any activites to help with that. Thanks for the lovely video.
Enjoy your videos and love your practical tips.....favorite ones recently were tips to reduce plastic packaging. Your presentation is so calming and useful. We have radiators for heat and I use them to dry clothing in rainy days of below zero temps, instead of the dryer. Of course, my clothesline is always my first choice.
Hi! I've been doing the same, waking up at 5.30 am from Monday to Friday. I get up, immediately moisturise my whole body, stretch it for one hour approx, meditate for 30-45 mins and read a book. On the days I go to the beach at 7.20 am, I wake up at 6.00 am. The most diff part is to go to bed early, that's what I thought, but during the first couple of days of this new routine, I felt already tired at 9 pm, so I was sleeping at 10 pm.
Thank you for your videos! I have really enjoyed watching several back to back, am reducing my single use plastics well and am enjoying the journey, but have found it can be frustrating... I will apply your wisdom and see if I can get up a tad earlier to maximise the day!
Sharon-ELizabeth Regan ah lovely! Go easy on yourself. If I'm in bed late I put the hours later to get up in the morning so it really is so much to do with an early bed time! And I food late in the evening.
Im always up at around 5.30am. I don’t start work until 7 but I use that time for slow breakfast and to meditate. But yes an early night is essential ☺️
Thanks for those tips. I don't get up before 6:30. But when i used to go to the gym I awaiked at 5:00. I did not do since a year. U give me back this will to do it again. Merci beaucoup. 😊😊
I wake up at 6.30 every morning to prepare for work, make breakfast for my child and husband, and drink my coffee. I would love to try getting up earlier ( do some cooking, exercise, cleaning etc) but my house is really small and the noise would probably wake everybody up 😄!! I guess I must focus on more quiet activities 😆😆! I really liked your tips 💗 thank you for sharing your experience 👍
Helen Hapsi haha yeah I figure out what I need to do and then I see the hours getting earlier and earlier! There just is never enough for it all. I do exercise with others asleep. House is tiny. Cleaning no though too noisy! 😆
This is such a good video and I also love the vibe you put out there. Your videos always make me feel nice and calm, they help to turn down my anxity as well. Thank you. ❤️😘
I would love to get up at 5 or 5:30 AM, but I seem to have turned into a night owl. My whys are: To have quiet time for Bible Study and Prayer; Meditation; and Exercise. Any suggestions for changing my ways?
I'm so lucky because I naturally wake up early, somewhere between 4am and 6am with no alarm. I prefer to leave myself to wake up when I'm ready since I am currently working from home and do not have to be anywhere for a set time. Life is so less stressful when you are able to wake up naturally every day without the blaring of an alarm. I just want to get out of bed and start my day, I honestly love mornings. However, I wasn't like this for many years so I consider myself very very fortunate.
Thank you for this video it is very helpful. I have been trying to do this now that the new year just started. I enjoy the quiet moments to meditate and I too have been into improving on the piano. How long have you been playing the piano?🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Really helpful video. Specially for me. Thank you so much for this. Your videos inspire me so much. Thank you always. Lots of love from me to you. Relaxing and calm to watch you.
I am a natural "lark" always up by 4.30am or 5.0am in the winter months. Best part of the day for me to be up, sitting in my garden watching the dawn come up.....even in winter! As a Christian it is a time of prayer and contemplation. Only if it is pouring with rain or very windy do I stay in doors. My Mother did this and I started joining her aged five....am now over seventy. To compensate am always asleep by 9 pm. Husband on the other hand is an "owl"...his brain only starts waking up at noon and at his best around midnight 😕😁
I want so badly to wake up early to meditate and practice yoga. Having young children, these pieces of self-care have disappeared. Thank you for simple suggestions. You make it seem easy but thoughtful - i of course know that it’s not easy!
I've been doing 0500 hrs get ups for 4 years now. I find routine is the key. Get up, wash, coffee lasting 20- 30 minutes. Walk dogs, feed dogs, make my lunch for work then have breakfast. Takes about 1 hr 30 minutes. I love that time by myself with only the dogs as my companions. It's that routine now I even do it on Saturday. On Sunday I get up at 0600hrs. I always go to bed between 2045 hrs and 2100 hrs. Would not change a thing .
Hi I like to get up at 5.I feel that I get more out of my day. I don't work. Do my chores. Love sewing, baking, cooking etc. When you get up late the day just drags. It's12. 57 am. Right now. From a lock down. Lots of love from South Africa.
I used to get up early. The upside of it, your day is longer. You have a lot more time to do things. If I'm tired during the day, a half-hour nap reboots my energy. I had a supervisor that took a fifteen minutes nap. She had a long drive home. I don't get up early anymore. I write till 2:30 am. and wake up at 8:30. six hours of sleep works for me.
It is difficult to wake up early without sunlight for me in UK. Back in India, sun rays are like kinda alarm. By 6 sun rises even in winter and so i always found it easier to wake up early. Please suggest something for winters in west.. countries.
I worke in th evening so I and since i am a little girl I go to bed to late , my parents go to bed to late , today i am 62 and it's very difficult to change but I try and try again.Thank you , you give me motivation.
Hi thankyou for making this video. I wondered if you had any recommendations for a comfortable mattress I've seen some are Bamboo or made of natural fibers which might be good. I've got trapped nerves in my back and I have the hardest mattress like sleeping on bricks I think that's why my back is so bad. Any recommendations for a very soft mattress would be greatly appreciated. I just wanted you to know I adore your videos.they make me feel so cosy I can't wait to have a little cottage in the country one day that's my goal your very lucky and a very kind and beautiful person admire you so much. Much love Carly xxxx
Thanks Carly, such kind words. I’m not sure with mattresses. My uncle uses a bamboo type mattress. He says it’s amazing. They are more expensive but worth it if you have a bad back. The other is memory foam Not as eco but my parents have one and have no back problems anymore. The more money you can afford to pay the better the quality
@@FairylandCottage thankyou so much think I will try the bamboo one as more eco. I really hope you're doing well. I was thinking of you today as in one of your videos you were saying that you were super critical of yourself and what you did. You said that if you didn't do it perfect you didn't want to do it. I was thinking of that because today I was asked to do a major project. I've never done before, I help out in a florist and was asked to make a guitar from flowers so I did cut out all the shapes used berries for the buttons and tuners and used wire for the strings. After I finished I really didn't like it and wanted to start again but I couldn't as the funeral it's for is tomorrow. I kept seeing things I would of done differently kept seeing my faults. I just hope the man who ordered it is going to want it. I need to stop being critical and having no confidence. Any idea how I can get better? I get so upset same as my artwork if things are not perfect or it doesn't look right. I have never done floristry before and today first time I'd attempted anything like that. Maybe any artistic job will drive me crazy as just want things perfect especially for other people. Any words of advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm not sure I can keep doing this job because I get too upset if they don't come out right. As always I think your amazing as soon as I get home I put your videos on you make such a difference to people's lives mine included. I love your cosy videos and your way of life, maybe one day I can get a little cottage in the country your very lucky. Your beautiful inside and out. Keep shining brightly. Much love Carly xxx
I frequently wake up in the five o’clock hour and it’s quiet and peaceful in the house. I mediate, pray and read. Rarely I have to wake up in the four o’clock hour for work, but that’s not as peaceful 🙂
