I don’t have drawers or shelves in my closet, how can I organize my bags, shoes, scarves, and belts? I live in a tiny apartment in the city and my bedroom is also my closet, storage unit, and living space. I have several cheap clear Sterilite 3-drawer rolling containers that I removed the wheels from and stacked on to each other to make more room to move in and they’re a constant headache as they don’t shut properly and they’re so lightweight that they fall over when I want to open a drawer. I have lots of dollar tree organization bins and containers but I can’t seem to figure out how to organize anything with them and make a space that would be easily accessible and not just on top of the clear drawers. Needless to say I’m stressed about my living space and I want to be organized so badly but I’m just having trouble figuring it out. Any suggestions would be welcome and I thank you for the video. 👍😊

Hi Meghan! Small apartments can certainly pose a challenge to storage. Do you have a closet door? Over the door storage systems can be a good solution to keep your items contained and organized - same with a hanging sweater organizer, if you have a closet rod. We also like dual purpose furniture, to help create more storage options.

Hi, I have a closet with shelf’s and I also have a dresser I don’t really know what should go in the dresser and what should go on the shelf’s. Do you have any tips?

Hi Carrie! It's definitely specific to each person, but generally we recommend hanging items that may easily wrinkle and folding heaver items, like sweaters. But if you're like Joni, you might hang everything!

How do you handle organizing those worn-but-not-dirty clothes, like jeans that were worn once?

Elizabeth Whiting I have a basket in the bottom of my closet that I put my “half worn” clothes. Like jeans, clothes I wear around the house, etc.

AJ's suggestion is great! We often install hooks into our clients closet to hang items that can be re-worn but shouldn't be folded back into the clothes.

So...I’ve tried the file folding but when I take a few items out it all falls over. Any tips? Like bookends?

Hi Becky! File folding does generally work best with a full drawer, but we often use drawer dividers in tandem, to help keep things in place! This is one of our favorites from TCS: bit.ly/2Q4YU5y

My closet looks... Bunchy? I’m not sure how to explain it. I feel like my clothes never sit nicely they all look gross and tangly. By I wear most of the clothes, and i don’t think there is much in there? Do you have any tips

Hi there! We're sorry your closet is giving you such a hassle! You may already be doing some of these things, but here are a few suggestions: Matching hangers is a great place to start -- sometimes mismatched hangers sit at different heights, or there are different colors mixed in, so it's less aesthetically pleasing to look at. Categorizing is also very helpful, both in practice and in the overall look. You can sort items by color, by sleeve length, by season. However works best for you. And sometimes you may just want to plan a quick weekly tidy, to help get into the habit of having an organized space. Let us know how it goes!
