Thinned my fall carrots today and picked a bunch of radishes. I will probably can the carrots and pickle the radishes tomorrow. Have a great weekend. 😀

Hi Jeff, agree about the mulch. I use sugar cane mulch which comes from the crushed cane after the harvest in Queensland. Since I've been using this my soil has improved so much. Happy gardening, cheers from Aus.

Cant wait to implement these videos when I purchase my greenhouse next spring! We ‘generally” get snow in late December or January here in Cape Breton so I’m excited to try fall planting. Another great video! Thanks! I see that you have a SK Roughriders cap. My niece just moved back from Estevan in July after 8 years teaching there! Wonderful people from Saskatchewan!!!

Totally agree with your wonderful advise on mulching. However, last season I found that earwigs found it to be a new home. After significant plant damage, I had to painstakingly remove my mulch and set out oil traps for the pests. Believe me, I mulch everything else!! So appreciate your videos, thank you.

Jeff, more great info. Oh, what’s the planting season for ‘snow peas’? I know, not funny. Waiting for more, please.

Ha ha thanks Jim. The peas can take quite cold...not as much as some people think. Ideally, you're picking the pods just before frost or around frost. Some varieties are more cold tolerant than others too...so definitely experiment. Most are a 60-day crop minimum, so work backwards from your start of the cold and plan accordingly. :-)

Until the mosquitos are gone, I have to stay covered it's aggravating. Now the stink bugs are out ugh!!! 😵😠🐛🐛🐛🌱these Pest ate my last zucchini , my first Lemon cucumber and spaghetti squash. Not to a good start for this first year of gardening but I'm hanging in there. BT is on its way 😂🤣🌱🐛🍅🍉🥕🥦🥒🍁🍂

I need to get into cold weather crops. I usually just grow summer crops and then once the cooler weather comes, I don't do anything for several months until spring.

That's most people Jonathan...totally normal. People can get burned out by the end of summer too. Give it a try though...its much less stressful and actually more enjoyable sometimes! :-)

@@TheRipeTomatoFarms food and for decoration. They are a natural dewormer for chickens. Decorations of me natural antioxidants for them. Maybe I will look up a recipe and see why I can make too. They are the one plant I actually haven’t took care of and they thrived the best!!! 🤦‍♀️😂🤦‍♀️

@@TheRipeTomatoFarms they love pumpkins and squash. Usually I cut them in half and they will eat it that way. The seeds are the first thing they eat. 😂 They will completely devour them in no time.

For some reason I thought you were way up in N.E. Canada but our Frost Dates are similar. ThT IS GOOD AS IT ALLOWS ME TO MOSTLY mIRROR HOW YOU DO IT AND WHEN. aNOTHER ONE i FOLLOW IS IN nEW zEALAND SO i HAVE TO DO OPPOSITE OF HIM EACH YEAR. LOL. [[Sorry, hit the Capslock-half blind two-finger typist whose too lazy to go rewrite all of that. :P ]] I've no plce to start indoors-only two windows I might be able to frame a small set of interior greenhouses and no funding for lights or a pplace to put them anyway. I will have to permuse on it a bit.

@@mindofmadness5593 even in Canada, my first frost date isn't until November... And even then it's a very very gradual easing into real winter anyways! It's the moderating effect of the Pacific Ocean.

I don't have a grow light for indoor sowing, so my lettuce, broccoli, spinach and beets all germinate except for the Cabbage, try twice no luck, even throw a tomato away in the raised bed and there is A tomato plant growing, what's up with the Cabbage, seems to be one of those needy plants

I'm still new to veggie garden. My back yard is on the south side of house. Which direction should my beds run? I m aware to plant tall veggie on the east side of bed, but maybe the whole bed is laying out wrong.please advise

Hey Naomi....east-west, north south both work....they really do. How you orient the tall crops and the short ones will have more of an effect! :-)
