I've watched Lena's other 'instructional video's and she is great. ALWAYS making the individual she is working with feel confident and relaxed.during the sessions. Follows her father Jerry and always fun to watch then interact with each other in a fun way at the range. Great Ambassadors for our Gun Community.

Her students have confidence because they have success, because they follow her instructions.Because she knows what she's doing.

Simple, short, and very effective video for a new shooter. Covers all the essentials in a clear, well demonstrated quick start guide. Sharing this with my wife as she is brand new to the sport. She can learn more in this 5 min clip than I could teach her in an hour.

There is always something of value to learn from Lena (and her dad!) Lena also demonstrates what a patient -sober-kind soul she has which is a fundamental requirement for being such an excellent shooting instructor. Thank you Sportsman’s Warehouse for sponsoring this excellent video.

been teaching for about 30 years... Start w/ stance. "Stand like you're going to punch a bag". Then posture: slightly forward. Arms, etc. Grip, etc. Sight picture, etc. THEN... teach the gun is going to do 4 things that the shooter can't stop: A very loud noise, muzzle flash, muzzle jump, and recoil (all at once). The shooter has to let them all occur, they can only correct once the shot is fired. That takes time. Also, shooting fatigue is a real thing for most people and 50 rounds is about it. I start off with a .22 rimfire auto, let them watch me shoot first, then their turn. Then up to a .38 revolver, then a 9mm auto, etc. No rush. No set # of rounds. Just be very aware of all things involved including possible intimidation.

My niece was so hard to instruct, had her just watch your video, and she calls and says now she can grip her pistol just fine and it don't hurt!! You and your Dad are such great instructors!! God bless you and yours have a HAPPY NEW YEAR AND A BELATED MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

2nd comment because i can't shutup: What a great bedside manner! I imagine that among those new to weapons there are a good percentage who are a little- or a lot- nervous about it (which is totally relatable) so, teaching them not only in an assertive and capable way, but also disarming and even FUN way, must really make a difference to them for their first experience. Good show again, Lena 👌🏾

As a suggestion especially with someone shooting a larger caliber handgun is to load the firearm with only one round. That way there is no chance of an accidental second shot being fired while trying to control recoil, which has resulted in critical injuries in the past.
