We always gate-checked our stroller, and checked the carseat, as it got jammed on one flight (you can use your carseat in the assigned seat, and they couldn't get it out. Had to cut the belt. I also ordered diapers/supplies and had them shipped to my destination (they weren't readily available where I was at, and it saved time shopping for all that stuff). Then, I left them in the condominium as a donation to the cleaning team. I buy shampoo bottles/conditioner/mouthwash there, so I don't have to carry them, or collect the free ones at the hotel; however, it takes 3-4 of those to shampoo long hair- so it's just better to run to Walmart for that if you have to.

Limit liquids to just the water that the FAs come through with so that they aren’t going to have to go pee at inopportune times!!! Also our biggest issues with flying with kids have come when it comes to getting off the plane! I finally figured out one more snack on touchdown gets them through! Because it can be even 30 mins still before you’re actually physically getting off the plane. Anyway go you for continuing travel with the kids!!! That’s awesome! I am getting ready for a 13 hour flight with 3. I’ll need to up my snack game big time.

We totally agree with getting Global Entry and TSA precheck! Life is so much easier with it. I would add that when traveling alone with kid/kids you need to have a signed parental consent document from spouse - some airlines have blank versions online to download and use.

Great tip! I flew alone internationally in October (after I filmed this video and had the baby) and took my then 2-month -old baby with me to Turks & Caicos. I was not asked to submit a parental consent! Do you feel like it's dependent on location?

If you live near Canada you can get nexxus. Which is cheaper than global entry. It is 50 dollars for 5 years and includes TSA precheck and global entry. You will need to go for an interview in a US Canadian border city. I have nexus to go with my expanded drivers license to get into Canada. This way I don't need a passport.

I have another tip for airport security if you have kids. If your kids or have kids under 13 in your family do not remove their shoes. The new guidelines allow kids under 13 to keep their shoes on generally.

Nice video! I like your mindset. I have twins who are 7. We have been traveling since they were 6 months old. It amazes me how parents think they should not take kids on vacations or on airplanes till they are 5 plus. You have to train your kids from day one to travel and get used to changes and inconveniences. We travel 3 times a year by plane. We do not let our kids slow down our travel life after we had kids. When my kids were toddlers we would go to bed at midnight and wake up at 10am plus. I never have liked when kids wake up at 5-6am. There is no reason why. Now with school hours. My kids go to bed 10pm and wake up 8am in general. I have trained my kids to not yell and scream and run around. They know when they play they can. My kids can sit in an restaurant and sit still. When they were younger any noise they made. We instantly shushed them or took them outside. When they were toddlers If they cried I would take them outside instantly to show other parents who to teach kids manners and have respect for others. We are overdue for our vacation this year and my kids feel it. Vacations are very important. We have not gone out of the country only because I want them to be a little older for waking purposes. We never have encouraged naps after the age of 3. So many parents are strict on nap times. It’s ok if your kids miss a nap. Hell if we are stopping our plans out and about to go home and take a nap. Your kids will be ok. Cranky yes. But they will pass out. Years of not having kids and being married made us this way. When we go on vacations we pick hotels that are not next to tourist areas. Kids tend to wake up 5-6 am. We like to sleep in on vacation and wake up late and stay up late. If you can afford it. Please take your kids on a vacation. My sister has kids ages 10 to 16. They only have been on one vacation. They have the money but think it’s a waste of money. Her kids have never been to Disneyland or anywhere fun. My number one tip for flying is to keep your kids up till 2am the night before. They will wake up till you get to the airport. They will pass out on the plane every time. We did this especially when they were 1 plus. We hated it when baby’s would cry on airplanes. We knew the parents gave them a full nights sleep beforehand.

Do you know if 4 yr olds need to use the carseat while on the plane? No special safety devices?
@Meg_O
@Meg_O 3 года назад
Most airlines do not require a car seat for any child, no matter the age. Your 4-year-old won't be required to sit in one, it's just your personal preference. Since your child will be a ticketed passenger, they will have a seat for them reserved anyway - it's up to you to decide whether or not you want to bring the car seat. No special safety devices aboard most airplanes. Our family never brings carseats on board because we find the car seats to be too much of a hassle to drag through the airport. We have an upcoming flight to Jamaica in June and we may actually do it this time for our almost 2-year-old. We kinda feel like it may be worth it now to keep him extra safe and contained in his seat. We shall see!

Does my 3 year old need any seat restraint system or just the belt that’s on the plane
@Meg_O
@Meg_O 2 года назад
Technically you're find with just the seatbelt on the plane! You're not required to bring anything on board. The baby I was pregnant with in this video is now 2.5 and we have been bringing a lightweight carseat on board just to contain him and strap him in better, lol. But that's not a requirement!

My daughter is 4 years old and I want to know do I need to take her birth certificate or any identification for her
@Meg_O
@Meg_O 3 года назад
We haven't really needed to bring birth certificates lately. We flew last week and then a month ago (United and Southwest) and at security checkpoint they just had the kids tell them their names. Your best bet is to call the airline beforehand and ask what they prefer at check in! We've found that if they're ticketed (which they are at 4 years old) they typically just ask the child what their name is to identify themselves. But it never hurts to call and be prepared on the off chance they're strict about ID!

@Meg_O
@Meg_O 5 месяцев назад
It used to be where if one adult had precheck, the entire reservation could go through the precheck line. Now all adults need precheck, and minors on the reservation can go through with them. So theoretically your husband can take the baby through with him and you’d have to go through the regular line. It’s 100% worth having precheck so definitely do it if you can!😊

Hey, here's a tip....why not leave the kids at home? Rather than disrupt the entire flight with a screaming kid or kids, leave them with a relative or hire a sitter. You're not entitled just because you decided to breed and inconvenience everyone else. I know, I know, you're entitled because you chose to bring these monsters along and after all, it is YOUR plane and YOUR right to disturb others because you have kids. That's just the way it's become.

@@Meg_O Jerk? At least I'm not hauling kids around on a plane that create havoc because I'm not entitled and I'm considerate. Continue on.
@Meg_O
@Meg_O 3 года назад
@@kevindelaurentis8666 pretty unrealistic for you to think that kids shouldn’t exist in public places. You’re going to be severely disappointed in life, and pretty angry. Also pretty classist to think that people can afford a sitter for a week or have reliable relatives. Oftentimes, traveling IS the cheaper option. Pretty jerk-ish for you to assume that I think everyone else should be inconvenienced because of my children. You clearly are not a parent. No parent says, “everyone needs to deal with my annoying kids.” No parent wants to inconvenience others. Get over yourself.
@NoraMarie13
@NoraMarie13 3 года назад
Dude, chill out. You’re not entitled just because your parents decided to breed you and inconvenience everyone else. Rather than disrupt other human beings for just trying to travel like yourself, stay with a relative or hire a sitter. Screaming kids on a plane is not fun for anyone, but neither is being a jerk to someone. Let parents take their kids on vacation. Let the kids enjoy planes too
