@@RaechelSykes Not sure exactly. I would start by cutting the cooking time in half, and then add more time as needed, until they reach desired crispiness.
Oh my gosh. You are teaching an old timer (87) new tricks. I have never done much cooking, but our daughter gave us an air fryer and then I discovered you on RU-vid. My first attempt was "grilled" cheese sandwiches. Using your techniques it turned out great. Then I tried frozen French fries and they also came out really good. So thanks for your enthusiastic presentations.
Ever since I came across your channel, I have been using my air fryer like crazy! I love your recipes and all of the tips and tricks. Thank you so much for helping me making my air fryer not a "dust catcher" anymore...
I agree with Dorothy !! Having a new cooking appliance means you should learn about it, it's different enough to come to an expert like FF and get it done the right time and use the techniques. Thanks FF, I subscribed to the Best teacher /cook and I have a Cosori, too !!
Cathy, these French Fries and your sauce are the best!!! My husband said he never had so perfect meal and was amazed to hear that no frying was involved. I used Russet potatoes and followed all your tips - they turned out just as they should be. Thank you very much for sharing and teaching us how to Air Fry! 👍😍🌹
I just followed your instructions to make fries for the first time in my life for my 5 year old daughter. She said they were the best fries in the world! Thank you!
I can confirm that this is the ultimate guide , thank you♥️ I just made some, but I bolied the potatoes a bit after the rinse and added paprika to the spice mix, they were PERFECT 😗👌🏻
I'd buy that cookbook of yours if I could. Your videos have helped alot in learning how to cook vegetables I normally wouldn't eat because my parents ruined them for me. And absolutely love your kids inputs!🙃
Thank you so much for this Cathy. I have soaked mine in cold water and dried, but never did the hot water. I will definitely do this next time. Hubby and I love fresh homemade fries in the air fryer, so much healthier. Your daughter is darling... Take care, and hugs. Claudia
I NEVER comment on videos but I have to share that I followed the directions to a T and my fries were amazing. I couldn't believe how delicious they were. Thank you for creating the best way to make air fryer French fries!
I made the fries according to your directions- they were delicious! Crispy on the outside, still soft on the inside, evenly cooked, not greasy or oily. A little bit of work, but worth it!
Although I wish she wouldn't spend so much time at the beginning talking about the recipe rather than giving me the recipe this is a great primer on best practices for good air fryer fries I subscribed after this. Lady like to research and teach.
This method works better than my usual method. I've always soaked my fries in the cold water, but never hot water. Love the hot water soak! Works much better. Cooking them for 5-10 minutes on 350 is like blanching fries in oil. Definitely my new favorite way to do fries. P. S. I don't use oil, but my fries hold seasoning without. Even healthier and I don't use oil for anything anymore.
These were excellent. I didn’t notice much starch in the water after the 10 minute hot soak. Thanks for the finger-width tip; it helped a lot!! I opted against dumping the fries out after they had cooked a bit and henceforth after because my AF doesn’t have a basket, just a rack. The rack falls out with the fries, and when hot, it’s a bit of a problem! I did use tongs to move things around thoroughly every 5 minutes. I tried some Lawry’s Seasoned Salt and it was good, and added ketchup as I didn’t feel like doing anymore work and it was delicious enough! Found your channel a few days ago and have been going nuts with the AF!!
I'm sure these are wonderful. Truly. But it seems like a ton of work. When I was a teen, I worked as a fast-food cook. We merely parboiled up tons of potatoes the day before then let them sit overnight in the fridge. The next day the skin scraped off like magic. We then used a french fry press to cut them into the same size and then we par-fried many quarts of them in hot oil. When an order came in for fries, we put an order of the partially-fried ones into the basket. Perfect. Of course, that requires a bit more planning but it was a restaurant. I am actually going to try to make them today using half my recipe (boil and cool) and then my air fryer for the final cooking process.
This is a great receipt that has become pretty-much my standard. It is quite important to cut uniformly, soak and dry the fries. After 10 minutes in my Cosori Air Fryer, I add them back to the bowl and sprinkle in the seasonings, whatever I am in the mood for. One trick that I do sometimes because I read that McDonald's soaks its fries in beef stock--and I cannot be bothered to do that--is to add a dash of powdered beef bouillon to the seasoning. After that, I put them back in the basket, turn up the heat, check them every five minutes and toss them in the basket without returning them to the bowl. Doing it this way, they turn out better than most restaurant fries: They are not as good as the best, but they are better than most. One way that I have been eating them recently is to immediately drizzle Okonomiyaki sauce and Kewpie Mayonnaise on them whilst hot and, then, sprinkle on some Japanese Furikake Seasoning. Also, with the right seasonings, they are delicious even without any extra sauce.
I just made these yesterday. I followed everything you said. They turned out amazing. My family and I really enjoyed them! I will definitely make them again!! Thank you.
Oh my gosh these taste really good thank you for teaching me because I have such a rude family they never wanna teach me anything and you being so kind and humble to teach us really is appreciated!
Hi, first of all thanks and nice done! What I do and getting super crisp on the outside and super soft on the inside, is steam the potatoes for 15 minutes and than on max temp for 12 to 15 minutes depending on thickness
I do love homemade fries. The way I have made them for years is a two step frying method like you did. First to cook them through and second, at a higher temperature, cooking them to they are crisp. The only oil to use, ir fat, is rendered duck fat. It's as good as frying things in bacon fat. So I when I get an air fryer I will try it your way but with duck fat. There is a restaurant in my area that makes avocado fries. They first cut them into strips and bread them in a mix of quinoa and other seeds and then fry them. The outside is crispy and the inside are soft. The are seved with a chipotle mayonnaise and are very addictive! I will experiment and get back to you.
Hey there! I actually made a keto version of avocado fries in this video (with pork rinds though). I didn't love the saltiness of the pork rinds, but they were good otherwise! I'd love to hear what you do on the outside! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-58V0nkaYmfI.html
just found your site and it is amazing. Your instructions/tips/demonstrations are among the best I've seen anywhere on line. Great job! listing the time stamp for different aspects is brilliant and great for going back and rechecking something. Thank you. I am looking forward to Air Fryer adventures. (Have already been seduced by the IP and don't know how I managed before I had one of those!!)
Guess what!!! My mom got an air fryer as a gift for her birthday 🥳🤗! I sent her the link to your channel 😊! I plan to get mine for myself for Mother’s Day 🙏🏿! Can’t wait to try this! And the fry sauce looks amazing 🤤! Thanks for sharing ❤️!
I have a tristar basket and two trays difficult to clean so my new Corsori will arrive today gone for the wifi model Always watch your vidios you give good tips and advice
AMAZING! Your video helped my brother and I make fries on our first time using our new air fryer. I am so grateful that you made this video. Thank you so much!!!
After I watched lots of videos about air fryers which you have uploaded, I just bought (online) Black+Decker 4L Digital Air Fryer, Model no:AIRF-OGB400-B5, it's around $155 and hope it will give a better output. if you can find a same model, you can try it too and share the experience. I learned a lot about air fryers because of this channel, thank you very much Fabulessly Frugal
Hello ! Just discovered your channel. I think your channel will be very helpful to me since I'm a new airfryer user. My airfryer hasn't arrived yet, but soon coming. Look forward to seeing more from you. Thanks from California. 🌅
Welcome! YES you have come to the right place! I just finished filming a video with 4 recipes that are PERFECT for new air fryer owners! Watch for that this coming Saturday! So glad you're here!
I was thinking about getting an air fryer especially for French fries or sweet potatoes fries but we’re 5 adults so seeing this video makes me realize that an air fryer definitely isn’t for me ! Thanks for the video
This cooking time is insane. I cut my fries, rinse them good and let them soak for a couple minutes. Spray them with some extra virgin olive oil, cook them and when done cooking, season them lightly and enjoy. I could make a couple separate batches in these time frames, although I do evenly distribute them in my Ninja Air Frier different then they kind in this video. You could go all out and cook a medium pizza in mine. I don't make a ton of fries since it is just me and I don't have a huge stomach. 1 potato a good size and I am all set. I like your garlic and salt mix at the end, but the other, sort of ruins the healthy side although seems tasty with that dip you make.
Hi Cathy, the chips looked lovely and so did your dip. I do mine with a crinkle cutter and I cut them a bit thicker. I use garlic flavoured olive oil and steak seasoning. With having the cosori dual blaze, the thicker chip works better. I do them at 180 degrees for about 23 mins and they turn out perfect.
I love the idea of the second toss in olive oil and is probably what I was missing. I like the oven fried part when baking them is the oild coatingvs air fried. when I air fried the first time it was dry and hollow.I will definitely trying this.
This is exactly how I prep chips for a regular oven, so this reassuring that the air fryer is going to work out for me. Just bought the Instant Vortex Plus 5.7litre. 😊
Just brought home an air fryer and found your channel. First cook, 3 red potatoes (what I had) cut and steamed for 15 minutes, dried, then tossed (shake & bake style) with oil/salt/garlic/basil/paprika and into the fryer at 400F for 8 min, toss then 8 min more. Result pretty good, but I think could be better. Maybe over steamed and under fried just a touch, but not a bad breaking in. Wings on deck in a couple hours. New tool, but the learning curve looks to be steep (aka fast).
I do most of what you mention except soaking in hot water and flipping the fries but that's because I have an Actifry that has a stirring paddle. Going to try the hot water soaking to see if that improves the fries.
I've tried a few online methods and with okay to poor results. Your method is worth a try. Seems like a lot of work for fries though. I use my method which is peel, cut (starfrit pototo chipper), wash, dry, oil and then cook for 12 min at 400 and flip after 7 min. I eat in the dark while watching a movie so I get by. Once again I will try your method. You did a great job
You can also try this method for even crispier fries : simmer the potato fries with a 1/2 tablespoon of baking soda and 1 tablesppon of salt for 8 minutes before air frying. (The baking soda makes the outside of the potato rough so it gets crispier when you cook them in the air fryer ) . After simmering , drain and toss in a bowl with a few sprays of oil and then air fry for 20 minutes at 400F :)
@@healwithmarianna yes; just let the water boil and then turn it down so that it just bubbles softly ....it is still quite hot just not at boiling point
We got the same air fryer a few days ago. I don't know why I never bought one before. It makes great chicken. And it's nice to make frozen pre-made onion rings and control portions and have less greasy foods that taste just as good. Next I'll make mini pizzas from scratch and see how that works out. You make great videos.
Hi!!! I really liked your video. Im using my AF more but am still leary about some things. I shall give these fries a try. Great video!!! Stay safe. P. S. Im just a salt and ketchup gal!!!
I will definitely be trying your method. I only rinse mine once but now I will do it several times. Also, I have one of those things that cuts ripples. Makes the fries really pretty! :)
I don't agree using hot tap water for the potatoes. Hot water from a water tank can be unsafe. It can have metal contaminants from the heater elements, plus minerals, or scale, that stays in the tank. Also, when hot water moves through the pipes to your kitchen faucet, it can pick up contaminants, like copper, nickel and lead from pipe joints and older faucets made with lead in brass.
Kathy, hello from Australia. Great tips that work well, thanks. (Why do you wear your watch whilst preparing the food?) Try using a large zip-lock bag to add oil and spices (that saves cleaning up time) I use Canola Oil spray and either Italian mixed spice, or veggie spices, into the bag for coating! Shaking Air Fryer pan every five minutes and removing french fries (we call then chips) when the color is right. My Air Fryer is over 5 years old and is used many times in the week. Bye....John Murray
Hi John! I wear my watch pretty much all the time actually, and don't really think abt it for the videos. Do you find it distracting? And thank you for the tip! What is your favorite thing to cook in your air fryer?
@@empoweredcooks I am not distracted by the watch. Roast Potatoes are my favorite. (Well, I am Irish and have been in Australia 40 years!) Peel and pre-cook by boiling. Have them about golf ball size. Leave the skin on at times. Sometimes, I use whole carrots as well. Place in Air Fryer with Canola Spray and the magic happens!
