This video proves that one can make a sponsored video that is actually benefical to the creator and the viewers. I love your art style and other simplistic art styles. I often find myself wondering how people are able to capture all those special little moments we excperience each day in their art or comics. I have a lot of respect for people like you. :)
I'm a poet and I love how this is 100% applicable for challenging and engaging with your personal style on whatever level. Big fan of your art and discovering I'm a pretty big fan of you as well. Cheers!
+angelsofpalo it's amazing how art style is applicable to all art forms, that's when I realised it's about who we are, not the medium or technique. Thanks for watching!
This is nice! Good you were genuine with the tips and where they came from. You let the product speak and didn't try to shill it. I'll give it a look. Thank you so much for the video :)
Honestly I think I will always be a cartoonist, since every day I think of everything in a cartoony style in my mind, and feel overjoying emotions when I think of an idea for a piece of art, cartoon, or animation, but I do need to have some classes, and there are none in my local area, so thank you for this
Thank you for your recommendations. There's so many great teachers on skillshare that its a bit difficult to choose just one to sit down and watch, definitely going to watch Christines course! 😊
Thanks so much for this video! You really inspire me. Sometimes I have trouble bringing out my side that loves anime, and cartoons, and kiddish stuff. I was once drawing for a friends grandma, cause she loves drawing. But instead of drawing the things that make me happy, like cartoons and lazy 🍳s, I just drew a hand. I wasn't proud of myself after that for not showing pride in what I like. I was sketching in my basement and was looking for videos to help me draw realistic figures. Then I came across this video! Instead of a video saying, "oh do this and make cylindrical shapes" it was easy, and laid back. It was mostly a wake up call to me. I began to feel like drawing was a race. That I won't get into colleg if I don't practice hangs every second, or I don't stay up at night and look for videos. To help me draw. But then I came across this video and remembered when I was little and I loved drawing...pigs..and Steven universe and hallway little characters. It was when drawing was enjoyable! Now I've turned it into something else, a subject like math that I would never find enjoyable/relaxing. Now once again I've realized that drawing is supposed to be a hobby AND something to strive towards. In fact I'm definitely gonna go draw something I enjoy now. So I just wanted to thank ya for making this video, you inspire me. This video pulled me out of the dim place I was in. THANKS A BUNCH! 🙏I have a little sticky note in my room Drawing: BE WILLING TO CRASH, LEARN, AND BURN!
just came across your channel - I love your videos!!! you seem so authentically you - it really inspires me to continue trying to live life being true to myself! Thank you for sharing!
I always wonder... how this guy can be so awesome? I mean, really? You are amazing, Jay. I'm not always around RU-vid, but when I am your channel is the first thing I look for.
Thank you so much this made me cry i'm so thankful for this because speaks out loud to me because I suck at every thing except writing and art and I want to become a writer but I really do not know why yet but that is because i'm young still and God has plans for it. But I been liking every video I watch and like on your Chanel. This Chanel reflects the things I want to be inspired to reflect what I want to share with others.
Hi Keira sorry for the late reply but thank you for watching my videos. Best of luck in finding out what you want to be - whether you're a writer or something else, work hard and do your best!
I dont have my art style. I love drawing Dragon Ball. I love drawing realistic portraits. I love drawing fantasy things. I dont like drawing... ( forgot that english word, damn it ).
Your art style is one of my inspiration in terms of drawing. They are so cute and it tells a story in a different way. Keep it up 👍🏻 -from philippines here
This really helps me, I keep drawing these characters which consist of basic shapes with no real anatomy and I feel bad about drawing them because I don't learn or prove any skills. Not that we shouldn't learn new or realistic things, I'm kinda learning anatomy drawings using a book from a famous artist currently, but I still like to draw those characters in that style more then real people. Thanks for encouraging drawing what you love to not only me but others too!
Thanks! I also hate to ask but, you said you were a professional artist in your 'how I found my art style' video and was wondering, what is it like and is the 'starving artist' stereotype true?
Man, another helpful video. Not going to lie here, but you encouraged me for the most part to keep drawing. And now I'm starting to see my art style change and grow. So thanks for another awesome video! Keep it up!
How my style is it’s a combination of influences and efficiency. My influences are classic Pokémon, manga I read here and there, robobuddies, and Vocaloid. It’s a weird stretch from my old style that was attempting to copy Ken Sugimori, but it’s efficient, and isn’t as meticulous.
Hello! I find you on youtube last week and i really appriceate you try to encourge us to find ourselves and be happy. Skillshare looks really cool but i couldn't find where to write that coupon code.
I have many interests and it's made me want to draw anything like flower, still life, landscape, doodles and my style changes every pic. I was suffering when I see other people who already have established art style.
If we're being honest, my influences are really people like you with a nice simplistic style. I personally feel like Realism is dumb, like, no offense to realistic art, the art itself is aesthetically beautiful But, I've always prefered art that feels like it has SOUL to it, like for example simple art. The more abstract an artist makes their work, the more their unique perspective of reality can really shine through so it always makes my heart melt at those kinds of simplistic art. Simplistic art just feels genuine. To me, Art that feels like it truly came from the artist has always filled me with an indescribable level of joy. I love it. Keep up the great work, I hope you garner much success, you deserve it. passed the sappiness, really my inspirations off the top of my head are Gravity Falls, Adventure Time, Avatar The Last Airbender. Fairy Odd Parents, Teen Titans(mostly because it got me into drawing and creating stories). Marvel comics(got me into superheroes), DC comics(got me into Fantastical creations that are more zany than the down to earth heroism of Marvel), Harry Potter and heck there's this webcomic called Homestuck that I love to death despite it's flaws, it's many, many many many flaws. Really, I commend all artists who can do this kind of stuff, it takes a lot of passion to do this kind of stuff day to day to day just so that you can see your skill continuously grow and thrive. Oh my god I'm such a dork
OMG YOUR IN AUSTRALIA!! so am i!! i live in perth tho :( it sucks here theres not much to do art wise and im hopfully going to move to Melbourne when im old enough ^w^

Thanks for reading this long also comment ur video links if u have or if u already have thx bro!
Drawing Lover keep drawing, literally. Even with the negative view, keep producing your work and keep sharing with everyone. Soon, you’ll become comtempt with your work then learn to love.
Hey dude thanks for the comment! I will make more practical tutorials in future. I just have so many ideas of videos I want to make. Thanks for subscribing and please be patient. Hope you can try to find some positivitiy :)
I just found your channel and I really like what you have to say because I am in this spot currently. I create realistic oil and acrylic paintings and recognize that art doesn't have to be hyper real in order to be good. My wife disagrees so its a constant battle. Do I create what her and everybody likes to see, or do something else.
Thanks for watching :) I would paint want you like to paint. It's a big world so I'm sure there will be people out there that like what you like. As you find more of these people hopefully your wife might begin to understand your vision and goals.
@@jaywalkerpictures Thanks for the quick reply! She has to be on board regardless of the crazy ideas of have! Perks of being married! It's just a matter of playing around and seeing which direction makes me happier. I'm starting a channel and hopefully will get some insight based on what interests me long enough to want to keep creating content, and what interests other people. I feel like you started the platform for a similar reason! :)
I'm always fine with some one having an sponsorship, I just hate when they have to example it because they know there are people out there that are going to call him a sell out.
My first thought acually was... Jaywalker uploaded a video awesome!!! my second thought: hey he already made a video about this topic I hope it will be good. :D ... and it was good :)
so by draw what makes you happy you essentially are telling the people that like the shonen anime style that they should keep drawing that way if that is what they like. correct? this is a really good video, i love watching all of your videos, keep it up. and another question, ive been drawing a lot of realistic photos, i go to google find a picture of a person i want to draw and i draw them because i heard that it is good to know how to draw realism which i agree with, but if i have that down and have a good understanding of that, would it then be logical to go and draw something anime if that is what i want to draw? ( dont get me wrong, i am drawing the faces because i want to but i would much rather draw anime styles)
The point of that tip is to look after your own creative spirit (i.e. take time to draw what makes you happy). A lot of people feel external pressure to draw a certain way and it crushes their own individual ideas and creativity. So for you, yes if you love anime, go for it. Its great that you understand the importance of realism, so take some time to do work that nourishes you. A lot of trolls online rant "Anime sucks, realism is important", they're right that realism is important, but they've taken it too far to the extreme in believing that realism is the only way. To become better artists we need to embrace a more level headed approach. Use realism to learn, but also take time to draw what makes you happy.
thank you for the timely response, you are one of my favorite artists on youtube, (not just because of timely responses haha) and thank you for the clarification.
Will you be elaborating on the subject of creating art though story telling. I've done the work of putting together a influence wall only to find out that it's less about style that interest me and more story telling.
How do you believe in Skillshare? i was on it for 6 months and learned nothing of value. Even the classes by great illustrators teach nothing or very little. You cant learn anything significant on there. Its just a waste of money.
