Most of my professional jobs have had very little managerial experience, I've led teams and committees, but they were never in an official setting where managing the team was an official part of my scope. I have decades of coaching experience, coaching kids to young adults, but employers seem to have a hard time making the connection that my successes as a basketball coach are transferrable to a business setting. Do you have any advice on how I can better help them make that connection?
Exceptional 💛 Sara what would be some top books & tips to make big in career as a fresher engineer in Aec construction industry or in general to achieve maximum success by becoming a generalist or a specialist as they say ? What should be the correct approach towards increasing our value as employee ??
I'm not going to actually recommend a book but instead I'm going to recommend doing some personality assessments: MBTI, Enneagram, Gallup Strengthsfinder. To showcase your value you need to understand your value (and if that is tough we need to boost your confidence) and then once you understand it you can communicate it (instead of expecting your hard work to speak for itself). That's the biggest key!
