This should be required viewing for new MPC Live users. Totally overlooked the erase "except note" function, def a time saver. Sample cycle is a total power move, was trying it with keygroups, setting loop points and reverses and then turning the arp on and getting all kinds of madness :) Nice work, great tips!
Dude, I know I’m getting to you late on this video! I have watched a lot of creators with their “Masterclass” tips… Brother, you take it to another level! I cannot thank you enough for all of this vital information! I have taken a week off of work, just to focus on your master classes! This is amazing! Just to have somebody proclaim the truth and knowledge back to you, and reinforce that Information/knowledge! Simply profound!
Out off all mpc videos on here these are the most informative and dive deeper than others, i have learned everything from his beginners guide and after watching this have learned advance techniques Thank you. Peace
Great Video, the Sample Cycling is a super super tip, just to add to that, for other folks watching, you have your MPC connected to the computer therefore you Time Stretching algorithm is Elastic Pro, not Pro Ten when you are in Standalone mode, there is a big difference in these. Elastic Pro is probably the best we have in the industry, Cubase, Protools, Bitwig all use this exceptionally well. In Controller mode, the CPU weight is shifted to your computer so you will be way better results and the sample cycle will take it to the next step, so if its super critical time stretching always connect to the computer using the software. You can always just bounce the audio back on to a pad, so that you can work without the computer, but you know you got the best time stretch already in your project.
luckily found this before even making my frist attempt, waiting for the mpc live 2 to arrive, nd going through your videos. this one is golden! Many thanks for sharing.
Wow… this was fantastically informative. I recently added the MPC Live 2 into my setup coming from an entirely Elektron background. I surprisingly took to the MPC workflow quite well but it is a lot of jumping back and forth between menus (whereas Elektron’s are less like menus and more like tabs). I’m using the menu+command regularly but everything else you added on top of that… wow, it can be so much faster even. The subtractive deleting is exactly how I use my Elektron boxes to flesh out songs and I was planning on using the Live in a similar fashion so you just showed me the fastest way to implement that technique. And the Sample Cycling… wtf. This was excellent. Definitely liked and subscribed. Looking forward to more of your content. Thank you for this.

Man YOU really are a techaer! This was so helpful no-bullshit cut to the chase and going into detail when needed (instead of skipping the important steps to show off like other "tutorial masters"). I was going "WOOOOAAAH" the whole time. Thank you thank you :) +sub
Thank you so much for the kind words my friend, I’m currently shooting a full MPC master class, and can’t wait to release it. I appreciate your support
Have a big respect for all the contents you share and also how you explain the MPC without hiding secretes. I aways learn something from your videos. Thank you!
@@CREATEEDUCATEINSPIRE Both. Il work like you initially. Whole track in a single seq. Copy out and mute/edit. Convert song to seq then edit as one before recording any automation.
My Man! Tip #4 Erase Button: I've only been using MPCs for less than 2 years. But I've never had this explained this clear and precisely! I will watch this multiple times, until I feel comfortable using the Magic Eraser this way! #5 Sample Cycling: I feel that Sampling is my weakest area of my beat production. So I'll continue to practice this method so I can improve in this skill! Thanks for your time and demonstration! 💯
So many gems in this video, it’s like a masterclass on it’s own. Knew a few of them but with all of this and a bit of practice i’m going next level pretty soon. Apreciate it a ton! 💣💯
There’s a ton of tutorials on here for mpc but that sample cycle I had no idea it could do that as I asked that as loads as I do house with loads of percussion and 4 bar loops this is great thank you
For me, Akai has taken the theory of limitation breeds creativity to another level since the MPC2000. However they maintained the same workflow feel but now created many different ways to be smart in getting the results you want. In particular this video shows that genius mode of working. Especially with the sample cycling.
Thanks for the great tips. Definitely solid workflow tips and just appreciate you for posting these and illustrating everything is such a understandable way with useful context!!!
Very, very good! Thank you for sharing! I knew some of those features, but your detailed described workflow helped much more than have all of the tipps seperately. By the way: Cool song you made!
these are great tips, thanks! i can see doing some really cool stuff with the sample cycle like putting it on a breaks for semi random chop sequencing.
Hey thank you so much! That’s one of the best tutorials I’ve seen (and I’ve watched a ton of them!!). Keep educating please, you’re really good at it ❤️ I subscribed to your channel
Very helpfull! Yes, please more. I am completely new to the mpc concept and I am glad to see, that it is more than a daw if you know how tracks and sequences can be used to actually play a song.
@@CREATEEDUCATEINSPIRE , I don't know. Depends on the content. I bought my MPC 1 for sampling and looping and sequencing my hardware to completely finished tracks. But my compositions are all in one sequence, each track in it, from intro to the end. Like building a track in FL Studio...
Massive thanks for the Patreon support. What videos would help you? Start to finish full tracks with the project files downloadable? Let me know the style of music and I’ll get some projects over to you!
@@CREATEEDUCATEINSPIRE You’re welcome. I would like some “from start to finish” tutorials with the downloadable projects. The 80’s tutorial is for me the best one although I like downtempo, hip hop, synthpop and house as well. Take care :)
@@CREATEEDUCATEINSPIRE Sure!!! On the popular side, Dua Lipa covers most of the modern synth-style. Less popular are Jessy Ware (dance/disco synth oriented), Ollie Wride (synthwave), Annie and Agnes. Of course there are a lot more examples I could name but I’m sure you’ll love the artists I mentioned. Have a great day 😍
Thank you!! I had stopped copying my sequences because I thought it was oversight from akai as far as duplicating muted pads (unwanted pads). I had to recreate whatever pads I needed on my next sequence. Now, it all makes sence. Thanks again!! 🎉Happy New Year!! 2022🎉
What great video, thank you. There is no button press shortcut to open/close the eyeball icon is there? I open and close it a lot because I want to access the options like Pad Control that are hidden when it's open.
This is a very useful and excellent video, the problem for me is the range of MPC samplers (I’m a MPC One user) are convoluted and over complicated, I simply don’t enjoy using my machine.
@@CREATEEDUCATEINSPIRE Great news. Part of my frustration is my most creative moments were with my old MPC 1000 back in the day! Nothing spectacular, just sample some old disco loops, a bass “C” note spread that over 16 pads, stick on a house/techno beat, compress, burn a CD and done! I’m playing a couple of my tracks DJing on a Friday night. My musical tastes haven’t changed over the last 15 years I just wanna do the same thing and I feel like it takes way too many steps to get there on the newer MPCs!
@@trevormalcolm4328 as an old school drum machine user and house/techno vinyl DJ, I've never owned an MPC until recently (6 mo.), What you're describing sounds easy on the MPC one. Don't get me wrong, it took some getting used to but watching others on RU-vid step by step got me up and running quickly considering the capacity of the MPC One. Just learned this trick here (sample cycling) and was considering whipping up quick remixes or snagging loops from old vinyl. Good luck.
@@CREATEEDUCATEINSPIRE this video kept me from purchasing a “cycle kit “. The first tips were awesome but the last two blew my mind. Didn’t know you can put four chords on a pad. I notice that it said note off so which means I can make a one pad hi hat or any drum sound combo. ??
With hats, I think its easiest to have an open hat on a pad, and the closed hat sound on another, and put them in the same Mute group, so the closed will cut off the open sound. thats the easiest way and also allows you to control the timing. The note off is an interesting one, essentially the pad plays when you release it. So nothing happens when you hit the pad, but the loaded sample plays when you release. A pad can only be one play state, Cycle, note on/ off... So, the best way i've found to use the note off is linking it to a note on pad. Example: Note off is great to add some realism to a piano/ keys samples. lets say you have a piano sample, you could link that pad to another pad (in note off) and put a sample of the piano sustain pedal, that way it sounds like the player releases the sustain peddle when you release the pad. Or, ive taken a guitar sample, and linked to anther pad that has the sound of my fingers sliding on the fretboard of a guitar, so when I release the pad with the guitar sample, you hear the sample of my fingers moving and it adds some realism. Ill make a video on some creative ideas you can do with the note off, and go through these.
