This should be required viewing for new MPC Live users. Totally overlooked the erase "except note" function, def a time saver. Sample cycle is a total power move, was trying it with keygroups, setting loop points and reverses and then turning the arp on and getting all kinds of madness :) Nice work, great tips!

Dude, I know I’m getting to you late on this video! I have watched a lot of creators with their “Masterclass” tips… Brother, you take it to another level! I cannot thank you enough for all of this vital information! I have taken a week off of work, just to focus on your master classes! This is amazing! Just to have somebody proclaim the truth and knowledge back to you, and reinforce that Information/knowledge! Simply profound!

Great Video, the Sample Cycling is a super super tip, just to add to that, for other folks watching, you have your MPC connected to the computer therefore you Time Stretching algorithm is Elastic Pro, not Pro Ten when you are in Standalone mode, there is a big difference in these. Elastic Pro is probably the best we have in the industry, Cubase, Protools, Bitwig all use this exceptionally well. In Controller mode, the CPU weight is shifted to your computer so you will be way better results and the sample cycle will take it to the next step, so if its super critical time stretching always connect to the computer using the software. You can always just bounce the audio back on to a pad, so that you can work without the computer, but you know you got the best time stretch already in your project.

Wow… this was fantastically informative. I recently added the MPC Live 2 into my setup coming from an entirely Elektron background. I surprisingly took to the MPC workflow quite well but it is a lot of jumping back and forth between menus (whereas Elektron’s are less like menus and more like tabs). I’m using the menu+command regularly but everything else you added on top of that… wow, it can be so much faster even. The subtractive deleting is exactly how I use my Elektron boxes to flesh out songs and I was planning on using the Live in a similar fashion so you just showed me the fastest way to implement that technique. And the Sample Cycling… wtf. This was excellent. Definitely liked and subscribed. Looking forward to more of your content. Thank you for this.

@@CREATEEDUCATEINSPIRE Great news. Part of my frustration is my most creative moments were with my old MPC 1000 back in the day! Nothing spectacular, just sample some old disco loops, a bass “C” note spread that over 16 pads, stick on a house/techno beat, compress, burn a CD and done! I’m playing a couple of my tracks DJing on a Friday night. My musical tastes haven’t changed over the last 15 years I just wanna do the same thing and I feel like it takes way too many steps to get there on the newer MPCs!

@@trevormalcolm4328 as an old school drum machine user and house/techno vinyl DJ, I've never owned an MPC until recently (6 mo.), What you're describing sounds easy on the MPC one. Don't get me wrong, it took some getting used to but watching others on RU-vid step by step got me up and running quickly considering the capacity of the MPC One. Just learned this trick here (sample cycling) and was considering whipping up quick remixes or snagging loops from old vinyl. Good luck.

@@CREATEEDUCATEINSPIRE this video kept me from purchasing a “cycle kit “. The first tips were awesome but the last two blew my mind. Didn’t know you can put four chords on a pad. I notice that it said note off so which means I can make a one pad hi hat or any drum sound combo. ??
@CREATEEDUCATEINSPIRE
@CREATEEDUCATEINSPIRE 3 года назад
With hats, I think its easiest to have an open hat on a pad, and the closed hat sound on another, and put them in the same Mute group, so the closed will cut off the open sound. thats the easiest way and also allows you to control the timing. The note off is an interesting one, essentially the pad plays when you release it. So nothing happens when you hit the pad, but the loaded sample plays when you release. A pad can only be one play state, Cycle, note on/ off... So, the best way i've found to use the note off is linking it to a note on pad. Example: Note off is great to add some realism to a piano/ keys samples. lets say you have a piano sample, you could link that pad to another pad (in note off) and put a sample of the piano sustain pedal, that way it sounds like the player releases the sustain peddle when you release the pad. Or, ive taken a guitar sample, and linked to anther pad that has the sound of my fingers sliding on the fretboard of a guitar, so when I release the pad with the guitar sample, you hear the sample of my fingers moving and it adds some realism. Ill make a video on some creative ideas you can do with the note off, and go through these.
