Hi Arpita..I have done my 1 year fashion designing course 6 years before...n after dat long time I have now started practicing it from last 2-3 days...my design is not dat bad.i want to be a part of freelancing..I only know to make design..but no knowledge of fabrics n all.still can I start freelancing...
Hi Ruchi, Good to know that you are planning to get back to design 😊 if you think your design skills are good, you can start working on the projects. Keep in mind that clients may ask you to do other aspects of design too. Learning about fabric is good. you can do that by research online. Start putting your designs together. Better do it on computer. collect some 10-15 or more as your portfolio. when you apply for a freelance project, first thing a client want to see is your portfolio. Once you have some projects in your bag, those will start adding up to your portfolio. All the best for future. Keep checking my channel for any inspiration 😃
Arpitha I love ur videos. This one is very nice. Whenever I get time I saw ur videos many times. It will be very useful for those who wants to become independant.
Thank you Mitali :-) I enjoy the freelancing life. There is a lot of hard work though. I want to share my experiences. My aim is to help as many people as possible. Please share this video with your friends who you think this may help.

I really understand how it is. When I planned to grow my family, I needed some way to keep myself busy and earn some money. Freelancing helped me so much. After almost 9 years into it. I am so happy with my career. I am glad that my videos are helpful. Your sweet words encourage me to create great videos. Thank you :-)

Hii i have not done any fashion designing courses .. but i always do design for me and my friends they all love it and wanted to start a career in this .. can i prepare my portfolio and become a designer with out designer degree?
Now a days people at big companies look for a college degree for a fashion designer. But, as your designs are appreciated by ppl around you, start doing the same thing for charges. Whatever you do take good pictures and keep saving them. They will become your portfolio. Start approaching nearby boutiques showing your designs. Slowly you'll get a grip in the market. You are in business! Prepare a good portfolio. Learn how to do it.
Now a days everyone is online, everything gets done online. It is good to learn computer software to convert your hand done work into digital work. Adobe illustrator or photoshop are good to start with. You will find many tutorials on RU-vid about them.
Heyy arpitha mam i love ur videos and its always something which i learns from.ndw everytime.i had completed by fashion designing but its a lockdowb period and how could i share my porrfolio with someone online now how to start the work many r not talking freshers
Hi Neha, sorry I got to your comment late. try to find designers, brands on social media. reach out to them telling about your studies and experience. Ask them to give you a chance to create a small collection for them. if they agree you are in the business. Look for start up or small brands to start with. Charge a little less. Don't forget that is you apply to 10 people, 1 may return. Have patience and keep applying everyday. improve the way you write to them. show them what they will gain by hiring you in your conversation. create a template and start sending it out. edit it where required.
Hey Arpita. Your videos have been really helpful to me. I have done 2 yrs PG in fashion. And now I want to start freelancing. I have created Behance portfolio, but behance is not working properly since last many months. So cn you please suggest some other free online portfolio website??
Sorry for late reply. I got to see your comment just now. Behance is working fine for me. I have some of my work put up there. Use it only to keep your work and to show clients. You can also create a business page on Facebook and instagram only to showcase your work. Don't use it for personal messages and all. That also can be a good way to share your work with potential clients. Sorry again. I am feeling very bad that I am answering you after 6 months.. hope you get to see this message.
Yes. that is correct. You need take one inspiration and create 10 garment ideas from that. For example, if you take underwater as your inspiration, you need to create 10 different garments with those colours or showing the under water creatures or under water plants, coral etc. all these 10 garments should look like underwater when kept together. Hope that clarifies.
As you design on CAD, if you start looking for the same work on online portals you may get projects. Watch this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mzyM-2p-08c.html

Hey Arpita ..I have done 3 year diploma of fashion designing , now am unable to find job even I don't have fabric knowledge . Just I know sketching of design ...can I apply in freelancer
Prepare a good portfolio until you find your job. You can apply for freelance projects too. Prepare a portfolio with the drawings and keep your work online. There are some more of my videos on freelancing. Check them out for guidance.
You don't have to know sketching. List down the skills you have so you can provide those services. You can improve your skills slowly and give more services later :-)
I have created a set of videos explaining everything about being a fashion freelancer and answered many questions of others in these videos. Watch these videos here: ow.ly/RFnQ50vb4RN I am sure these will definitely help 😃
@@arpitharai Hi arpitha m studying Fashion and Apparel Designing in Bangalore. And I also want to know when to start for the internship I mean in which year.
I thought I replied to this comment. sorry if I didn't. 2nd year is good time for internship. Internship will give you exposure to the industry and will give you an idea on how it will be when you join the job. you can do the internship in your holidays too. if you have contacts in the industry, work for free or less money in your holidays. it will give you great exposure.
I use Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop for almost all my freelance work. You can make use of the software you are familiar with and start working on it. If you want to improve your skill set, then start learning whichever suits you :-)
